We loved this hotel. Booked it for our 15th wedding anniversary and our first trip to New Orleans. We'd read many reviews on travel sites and the biggest complaint seemed to be average room size. At 12x15ft for the main part of the room and a very tiny bathroom, it isn't big, but it is sparkling and cozy... and bigger than most rooms in the older, classy "inner city" hotels I've stayed at in places like Boston and Chicago. This hotel has history and class!
You cannot beat the location... far enough off Bourbon St to be away from the craziness, but at the heart of just about everything else. We walked everywhere and were close enough to the St. Charles Streetcar Stop that a rental car was really unnecessary.
The hotel staff is stellar and the Rib Room restaurant staff is simply the best.. polite, funny, engaging, warm. Don't expect a cheap breakfast at the restaurant, you won't find it. But, you will find good food and some of the nicest folks around. If you like pancakes, plan on splitting one order... three pancakes take up an entire dinner plate!
One piece of advice is to be sure you enroll in the free Select Guest program. It gives you free internet access, a paper in the morning, and two breakfast beverages, delivered to your room at the time you specify, per person each morning (we could choose from hot tea, coffee, cold tea, coke, diet coke, OJ, cranberry juice).
My chief complaint would be noise. Our room was fairly close to the elevator and the walls are a little thin. This was no big thing until Friday night when the weekenders came back after partying in the French Quarter... and we had an early flight Saturday morning, so sleep was appreciated. Had the hotel not been full, I have no doubt the staff would have gladly given us another room.
Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Already planning the next stay!!

A gorgeous hotel in the heart of the French Quarter, with beautifully decorated rooms and staff that are at your beck and call. Ask for anything...the answer is yes!
