Very Awful Experience... Be Warned Not To Stay Here!
by Paul P.
I just got married and was on my honeymoon, We choose to stay at The Remington Suite for all of the amenities it offered. We even upgraded to The Bridal Suite and was given a plain room but was charged more. However once we checked in we soon learned that they offered NOTHING that they listed. We were suppose to have a bucket of chocolate covered strawberries and champagne which we did not receive. We asked about it and was told it was on the way over and over and never came. We were suppose to get breakfast in bed brought to us which never came either. In fact we were told they only do that if they feel like doing it. If you want food you have to walk across the street to The University Club if it's open and then have it charged to your bill. In our case it was not even open.
We checked to make sure they had a Jacuzzi, Indoor Pool, Gym etc etc when we called to ask about availability. We were told they had a Jacuzzi, indoor pool which we could use as well as a gym and a sauna when we called in and double checked as well as the night we checked in. It was not until the next night when we asked about our bucket of champagne and strawberries and fresh towels that the hotel was under construction. They had no room service, no maid service, no breakfast in bed, no champagne or strawberries in fact they claim they no longer do this even though it's offered on their website and brochure.
Their pool was drained and their gym and sauna was off limits, They have no parking lot and therefore you either pay a parking meter, parking lot attendant a few blocks away or allow them to park your car in their garage which they told us was free only to learn it is not free after all. The very first morning we asked to speak to the manager to try and cancel our room and seek some form of reimbursement for being led on because at no time did anyone tell us their amenities were under construction or no longer offered when we asked about it before we booked in.
We made the mistake of paying for it upfront with our credit card and the manager never contacted us. We kept complaining and seeking the manager and were told they were trying to get in touch with her and that she would contact us which never came until the last paid day we were to be there. I was under the impression that she was avoiding us until we were there on the last day because we were very outspoken about wishing to cancel our room and by avoiding us we did not get to do so. Then when I told her how they had nothing to offer and we were never told they were under construction or we would have went somewhere else she informed me that they did not promise us anything. She also wanted us to check out and told me that I would be still billed for that day. Then she only wanted to offer 50 bucks off the next time we stayed. She finally agreed to 50 bucks off the bill but added 50 bucks to the quoted price just to knock it off and try and deceive me. Complete rip off and scam! I am seeking legal help on this matter so be warned.

Horrible Experience at The Remingtom Suite
by melissa d.
During Hurricane Gustav, many south Louisiana families faced mandatory evacution. Several families were able to reserve rooms at this hotel. It was nothing but utter chaos! The front desk help was rude and totally disorganized. We were all over-charged. Valet parking was offered, but when one's car was needed, the hotel staff acted as though it was such an inconvenience to retrieve the vehicles. None of our group had more that the maximum number of guests per room, but the hotel staff questioned us, indicated that they were going to check the rooms, until FINALLY we handed the staff a list of each person in each room. That should have NOT been necessary! After checking out, we attempted to contact the manager of the hotel due to items left, improper charges, etc.; however, we still have not received a return call, nearly one week post-check-out. While we were faced with a hurricane disaster, the treatment at this hotel was nothing more than a disaster due to the rude, inconsiderate, unhelpful staff and poor management.

This is a local hotel that is extremely nice. We stayed here for our Anniversary and was very impressed. Our suite had a fully stocked bar, and the lobby is very nice. They have hosted people like Bill Clinton and Donald Trump. I was very impressed in how nice this place really was for a very reasonable price.
