What's the word for W New Orleans? Spicy. W New Orleans is conveniently located near the river , just steps from the notorious French Quarter but in a quieter location for a peaceful night's rest. W New Orleans is close to shopping, Harrah's Casino and the Warehouse District. Eat. Drink. And be merry. Legendary restaurants, incredible jazz and the best of New Orleans's notorious nightlife surround you. The Ernest Morial Convention Center is also within walking distance of the hotel. Let lounge impresario Rande Gerber put his voodoo on you at Whiskey Blue . Or fall under the spell of flavor at foodie's delight Zoe, where Louisiana comfort foods meet contemporary cuisine. When times get too hot, cool off in a poolside cabana. It's time to have fun. And W New Orleans is the perfect place to start. Why would you want to be anywhere but here?

The Scene
This hotel is giddy with ironic design twists, from the waiting bed in the lobby to the mega-size chairs in the sarcastically stocked library-as if any of the jet setters who check in here would have the time (or the inclination) to enjoy the stacks of board games, let alone lounge in the tranquil bamboo garden.

The Details
Each of the 423 rooms boasts minimalist design and the famously comfortable "W beds," custom-made with fluffy down. While the cool factor is at a maximum, elbow room is at a minimum. Rooms, however, do have data ports and other high-tech gadgets. The fourth-floor outdoor pool shares space with a fitness center and laptop-equipped cabañas. The modern attitude continues in Zoë and goes into overdrive in the bar, Whiskey Blue. There's a 24-hour concierge and room service.

Key Points

  • Steps from the French Quarter
  • Outdoor Pool
  • Whatever/Whenever Service

The best W in New Orleans

by Lauren M. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 100

I know that there is a more charming W right in the French Quarter
but that one gets a little noisy.

This is the W I always stay at. It's just a few blocks from the French Quarter near Harrahs Casino - in a much quieter and more relaxed area.

The rooms are gorgeous- the beds are super comfortable- there's a nice on-site bar & restaurant.

Stayed here with a group of girls for a bachelorette party and loved it. Sleek, neat and a perfect spot to hang out.

Pros: Great place, Good bar

Cons: Right next to Harrahs.. could be dangerous

Atrocious service

by sabrowne

The staff was incompetent, slow, and rude. They forgot to clean the room twice in our week-long stay. When they did clean the room, they forgot something. One day no toilet paper, another day no washcloths. When we called for replacements they said "sure" and then never came with them. We checked in at midnight after a long day of travel. They gave us a nice room, but the heater was broken. Their solution was to keep us in the freezing room for 45 mins while we waited for maintenance. The guy could not fix it, so they told HIM to move us to another much smaller, cruddier room. We had to ask to merely be given the same type of room we were originally booked. This place is just awful. Stay here only if you are more interested in looking cool than in receiving competent service.

Pros: bed, scene

Cons: , service, service

Happy Homecoming

by claney

I lived in N.O. for 6 years, went back this Christmas with my fiance and 16-month-old son. When I booked the reservation I mentioned that I would be traveling with a toddler, and lo and behold there was a crib in the room when we walked in. I brought Baby Einstein videos with me, as Expedia said every room had a VCR. When mine had a DVD player instead, they happily had an engineer switch it out. Service: impeccable. Every request was satisfied, and a phone call followed to make sure of it. Only suggestion: a little more lighting in the rooms, please! (The rooms are definitely designed for more baby-making.) Let's find some dimmers, guys.

Pros: Service, BEDS, Design

Love the W beds

by kaj22

As with all W Hotels the beds are heavenly, comfortable and the best in the business. The staff are friendly and helpful, once they know your name they remember it and call you by your name. It's close to the Quarter and the convention center so you can avoid the noise at night. If you're looking for a "traditional" NOLA experience then you might want to look elsewhere. The W is clean with bright colors and very hip and stylish. If you want a more antique and traditional NOLA experience then don't stay here but if you want a hip and stylish experience then this is the place for you. The two bars are relaxing and a nice place to unwind from the day/night. If you go Zoe's try the grilled endive and roasted roma tomato salad, it's the best I've ever had.

Pros: The beds, Friendly staff, Location

W is for What a Bed

by conwaygal

This hotel is cool and funky. The bed has to be one of the most comfortable ever. The room was cute and ultra-modern. The bar in the lobby is a major gathering place for those who want to see and be seen. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The restaurant was only so-so. All in all I enjoyed my stay.

Stylish and relatively reasonable

by susanblue_citysearch

This W location is much cheaper than the one in the French Quarter, and it's just a short walk away. The lobby bar is nice, as are the lounge areas in the lobby. The rooms are full of W-touches, such as red & black décor, leather furniture and a gumball machine.

Pros: style
