I went to Alpine Clocks and Jewelers today for a simple repair and I couldn't be happier. The staff was friendly, courteous, and did a great job repairing my watch, it looks as good as new! If I ever need a watch repaired, I'll definitely go back to these guys.

I needed my watch band repaired so I took it to Alpine Clocks. The owner was very friendly and told me he could repair it for a fair price. He fixed it quicker than I expected and now it fits perfectly. I will definitely be back for future repairs.

These people are strange - very strange - just in time for HALLOWEEN!!!!!\r

They are in complete control. They take a hefty fee to diagnose the problem - then you are already in for $90.00. Too much to turn back if you want your clock

I have a Seiko Dive Watch. I noticed some moisture getting into the watch in January 2010. I took it to them becuase they were close. 3 Months later after repeated calls, I FINALLY recieved a call saying that they replaced the waterproof seals in my watch and it needed a new crystal. Additionally, it was time for the watch to be oiled and the internal mechanism adjusted. They had already taken the watch apart and refused to release the watch for less than the $120.00 due for work that I never authorized. I picked up the watch on a Friday. Took it back on a Tuesday (they are closed on Mondays) because it was leaking water and would not keep running. 1 month later, they called and said they had the watch ready. I picked up the watch on a Friday. Again I took it back on a Tuesday for the same reasons. 1 month later (Yesterday) I picked up the watch AGAIN. I just noticed that therer was water in this watch AGAIN...I will return tommorrow...and the saga continues...

Pros: Convienent

Cons: Service, Time of Service, Service....and oh yeah..Service

I went to Alpine Clocks and Jewelers primarily because it was convenient and seemed like a reputable business. I was wrong. Alpine was not capable of making a basic repair of my Swiss-movement quartz wristwatch and refused to honor its own 90-day warranty. Because the watch stopped occasionally, they first replaced the battery, although I advised that I just had the battery replaced. The second and third times, they determined that the watch was in fact operating properly. The forth time, they admitted that it stopped occasionally and advised that all it needed was to be cleaned, oiled and regulated, and gave me a 90-day warranty. Because it stopped yet again, I returned it to them under the warranty. They said that they cleaned, oiled and regulated the watch a second time. It stopped again. Instead of going there a sixth time, I took it to the Watch and Clock Shop on Gravier St. which, which although inconvenient for me to visit, nonetheless diagnosed the problem immediately and replaced a faulty movement within 3 days. The watch has operated perfectly ever since. Bringing this information to Alpine, they would not honor the warranty they provided and refused a refund. There is no possibility of disputing a charge on a credit card since Alpine only takes cash or debit transactions for repairs??which is smart of them so as to shelter themselves against any recourse. I learned my lesson the hard way. I hope that you learn it the easy way and be forewarned.

Pros: Convenient Location

Cons: Not Competent for a Basic Repair and Deceitful

The reviews of this company seemed surreal. About a year ago I needed a repair of my antique mantel clock and must say the lady behind the counter was very helpful and willing to answer what questions she could. They called to inform me of the problems with my family heirloom within two weeks and how they would repair in detail. The price to repair was healthy, but the clock went through "Katrina" and was rusted and the case was damaged. The point is, these repairman took what I thought was a total loss and restored it inside and out better than it was before katrina. A month later I picked up my clock after they called to inform me it was ready. These people have got to be organized to keep track of all the repairs I saw hanging on the wall. Why three people came in with clocks for repair while I was waiting to pick mine up. I had some questions after I got the clock home and they were very patient and again explained in detail what ever i needed to know to care for the family heirloom. By the way, my clock keeps perfect time and my overall experience was enjoyable.

Pros: informative and helpful

Cons: They need more counter space; gets a little crowded at times.

Every time I enter this place I am struck by how much stock they have and how depressed and hostile the vibe is. They NEVER extend themselves or offer any but the bare minimum of info. The place wreaks of conservative tight wads who dislike everybody.

Q: "Do you sharpen French Chef knives?"
A: "Well, the guy who does it comes in on Mondays and he'll have to look at it to see if he can do it. Just bring it in and leave it here."
Q: "Well, what's the most he might charge, worst case?"
A: "Oh, I don't know anything about that.?
Q: "So if I leave it with you, how long will it be until I know if it can be sharpened here?"
Q: "Oh, I can't really say. I don't know anything about that."

No offer to ask the boss. No apology.

I brought back a gift swiss army knife with no receipt ($60). They would trade it for one of equal or lesser value with no receipt. Fair enough. I wanted one that cost HALF. They wouldn't exchange it late in the day because the computers had been turned off. So they couldn't take down my info and enter it into the computer the next day? For a free $30 extra profit? I said, "You're still open, right?" The response: "We didn't know you'd be wanting to do a return this late in the day." So today I called an hour before closing and asked if there was any chance that they could keep the computers running so I could do my exchange. The answer, "Well I can't really say..." Forget it. I'm giving the knife away and going to a big box store to buy another pocket knife. These people are ruder than New Orleans Garbage Men. Never a smile, never a hello, never anything that you'd expect from a family run business. Ove the past ten years I've probably bought from them once a year. NO More. I say, let them stew in their own juices.

Pros: Great selection

Cons: extremely negative shopping experience. Bad service after purchase.

.

This place has the worst "lazy service" imaginable! I spent over $1000 at this store (and probably more than $2500 in the past 5 years) and when one of my numerous clocks - that I purchased from them - broke 4 months later, I went back and asked if they could exchange or at least help me fix it. The lady who was working there did not even bother to "try" and help me. She just stood there for 1 minute - literally - trying to piece the thing back together but when she finally couldn't figure it out, she just gave it back to me and said, "Sorry, I can't fix it." Next thing you know, she starts accusing me of breaking it and shows me the receipt that reads: "All sales are final!" I mean how rude! After she said that to me, I responded, "Ok, we'll just purchase from somewhere else next time," and walked off happily. Take it from a very unhappy customer and please do not shop there. Spend your hard-earned money somewhere else and at some place that actually appreciates their customer's business. Because clearly, these people do not understand the terms "customer appreciation." And by the looks of it, they REALLY need the customers because now that I'm not purchasing anything from them again, they probably lost their only customer to begin with.
