This is a relaxed and comfortable restaurant with good food and good bar with beer and appetizers. Local place with a good reputation and its is easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Abington Ale House & Grill is not what it used to be....

by lisa b.

I go to the Ale House fairly often. I am usually very impressed by the food. However, the last time I went I was literally appauled and disgusted at the food. I went there to have a great dinner but I was served breaded chicken with Chicken Noodle Soup as gravy. There were literally tiny squares of chicken on top of my soggy chicken that was supposed to be crispy...and that sat on a bed of INSTANT POTATOES, with some oddly bright neon green beans next to that. I've had mashed potatoes there before and they were fresh! I had some skin in my potatoes before but this time they were bright white and pasty!! what happened Ale House?!?! Did you fire the great cook?!?! this was wednesday night the first night you had the trivia night....i'd fire the cook!!

The Best

by Donna E.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I've never been disappointed. The portions are huge and the quality is excellent. There's no downside to the Abington Ale House, other than the noise if you're looking for peace and quiet. It can get packed here.

Don't Snub This Pub Grub

by Annie B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,047

I was pleasantly surprised during my last visit to The Abington Ale House. I hadn't been there in years. I went there for my mother-in-law's birthday party. First off, they give everyone a free meal on their birthday. (Bring a photo ID for proof.) So that is really cool! Secondly, the waitress was super friendly and flirted with all the men at my table...my husband included...but that's ok. More importantly, the food was excellent. There were 10 of us. Not one person had a bad meal. In fact, we all loved the food. I had chicken pot pie, which was about the size of my head. And I am a fathead! One cautionary note, it was chock full of garlic. So, if you are trying to keep vampires at bay, this is the meal for you. My mother-in-law had steak for her free meal, and she adored it! And she is not an easy woman to please either. The atmosphere is neither quiet nor romantic. It truly is like a pub...kinda loud and kinda frenzied. Prices are fair, and the portions are huge. Doggie bags for sure. For a real treat, go around Halloween when they open Barrett's Haunted Mansion, which is adjacent to this restaurant. I think the restaurant owns that too. It is one HELL of an awesome haunted house! I scream my dang lungs out every Halloween there.
