Tastings Caterers catered our wedding in August of 2009. The food was very good, with mostly positive feedback from our guests. (One person complained about dry chicken, but most guests were very satisfied.)

However, Tastings?? co-owner Sue Zahner treated me in a very unprofessional manner in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and also sent me a rude, mean email about a year and a half after the wedding.

The problem started when we were planning our tasting. Sue had seemed wonderful in our initial meeting. We live in NYC, but were planning a wedding in my hometown in MA. We explained our scheduling difficulties ?? my husband works market hours and was using all his vacation days for our honeymoon; I work at a church, so must be in NYC by Sunday morning. Sue promised to work around our schedules when planning a tasting.

Starting in January of 2009, I tried to schedule our tasting. Sue had not told her employees of her promise and had forgotten all about it herself. We finally ended up with a tasting for the two of us and my parents on the Saturday night before Mother??s Day. There was a torrential downpour that night, and my parents were about 20 minutes late, but we offered to start without them. When they arrived they were very apologetic.

Afterwards, I sent Sue some notes about what we liked/didn??t like/wanted to change. Sue sent back an email in which she excoriated me, my husband, and my parents for being 45 minutes late, and told me how rude it had been of me not to let her know that my father wasn??t coming. (My father was there.) She also told me how rude it was of me to demand a Saturday night tasting during wedding season (once again, she had agreed to this and we had tried to schedule in January.) In response to my request for a bit more garlic in the tzatziki dip, Sue suggested that I make it myself. In several conversations trying to sort this out, Sue never apologized and was insistent that my father was not at the tasting.

In the following weeks, Sue began to treat us poorly: she added a cake-cutting fee, and did not waive it until I produced an email from her written several months prior indicating that she would not charge this fee. When we requested that some leftovers be sent to our honeymoon suite (which she had earlier said they always do), she informed us that there are never any leftovers.

Dealing with Sue Zahner in the weeks before my wedding turned me into a nervous wreck; my heart pounded and my hands shook whenever I saw an email from her in my inbox. I was so anxious about how she would behave that I hired a wedding coordinator at the last second so that I would not have to deal with Sue. The wedding coordinator was not very good, and managed her time poorly so that she did not have time to change into professional attire before the wedding. I was not impressed with her, but at least kept a buffer zone between Sue and me.

In February of 2011 (18 months after our wedding), I received this email, which I am quoting in its entirety: ??Your wedding reception makes us laugh every time we think of it and the memories of your party planner that night at your FORMAL wedding.... dressed in her blue jeans, non-fitting sweater, chunky pocketbook and no knowledge of weddings.. .just adds to the fun. I bet you are so happy that you had her on your side. I will be talking about your particular reception at an upcoming seminar that includes these details, so others get this picture. Just thought you'd like to know. Thanks so much for opening our eyes to who we like working with and who we want to go above and beyond for.?

The way Sue Zahner of Tastings treated us was unprofessional, rude, mean, and vindictive. Nothing could ruin our wedding, but it seemed like she was trying her best. Shame on her, and on Tastings Caterers.

This Event was to celebrate our Mothers 80th Birthday last weekend and we hired Tastings again for another special family celebration. This makes the 12th event in our immediate family in the last 14 years. Obviously, we love their food, the artful way they display it, all of the servers we've had over the years have been wonderful and especially working with Sue and now with Eileen too. It's been a pleasure and hope to work together again at our next event, most likely a high school graduation BBQ in May. Our Mother cried tears of happiness and when Sue presented her with 2 extra lobsters to take home ( out of the shells!) and a small personal birthday cake, it was as if she hit the lottery! Thank you Tastings for taking such great care with all of our family parties. I would always recommend you as would my brothers, sister, cousins, etc.. you all get the picture!

When we began looking for a caterer last fall for our wedding coming up in a couple of weeks, we read so many encouraging reviews about Tastings Caterers, that we
felt so good/confident about this company that we hired them!
Then when we attended one of their Group Tastings a couple of weeks ago, we were totally blown away.
They did everything Sue said that they could do and more. And I know how hard it is to please a crowd of people( as I work in the service field also.) It's impossible to make everyone happy, especially with food. How do we pick a menu??
. But there were over 60 people at this Group Tasting and we only heard positive remarks from everyone that we talked with. The couple next to us were using them for their Rehearsal Dinner, Reception and Brunch.... lucky them!
Believe me, if you read anything that isn't 100% great about them I would consider the source!!
Like I said, you can't please everyone and some people look for ways to complain.(like some of my fiancee's friends have done after their wedding receptions which were held mostly in hotels!)
This company cares about what they do and we are so happy and so excited for our wedding day which is only 2 months away! Yikes!
I just hope I can eat like I did at the Tasting, and my nerves don't get in the way!

Surpassed all expectations! From the food to the service to the overall bottom line with the costs!
What a comforting feeling it was to have them on my side for my Mother's big birthday bash!
Next up: Retirement Party for a co-worker this spring.(looking forward to me being a guest this time)

It was so refreshing to finally find a catering company that was on the same page as we were when planning our wedding held on New Years Day.
Sue and Eileen were always easy to talk with, no matter if it was about our ideas for food, concerns over budget or colors that match our flowers! We never felt like we didn't matter to them. I can't tell you what that meant to us. I do not live in the Boston area, which made it more stressful to find a caterer for our wedding. But once we met Sue, I knew that they would be the right choice for us. I do not regret it at all. I wish we could do it all over again, from the group Tastings that we attended to the full on wedding reception. It was everything and more. We can't thank Tastings enough for making our wedding both stressless and memorable!

I had to write about the meal that I just had at a BarMitzvah 2 weeks ago. It was utterly fantastic!
I knew it was going to be great when the first thing I ate ( Baked Goat Cheese over Pesto Fondue) made me salivate for more and more. It just got better from that point on in my mind.
I have been a reluctant guest at far too many of these events that the food is only mediocre and then this happens!!
YEAH to everyone who was involved with that event. They outdid themselves.

The many passed appetizers that were served were really flavorful and I made an absolute scene when I couldn't stop eating..... until we went upstairs to a beautifully decorated buffet with many choices from Tenderloin, Grilled Vegetable Ravioli Primavera, to Pan Seared Fresh Salmon to this masterpiece called
"Curried Mushroom and Leek Strudel"... the staff told me it was one of their signature dishes and it's now one of my all tme favorite food items!
The Desserts were whimsical... cookie spoons with toppings, mini banana fosters bread pudding shots with rich caramel and vanilla cream, their "Oh My God's" ( white chocolate truffles filled with creamy chocolate ganache, homemade caramel and smooth marshmallow, all dipped in dark chocolate!! were just what their title was for sure ( I asked the waitperson to describe them in detail to me and my wife over and over again... and then the Ooey Gooey Vanilla Bean Bites.... I''m going crazy thinking about them!
The service was flawless, the staff was knowledgeble, the place looked like a Cirque du Soliel Music Theatre and the dancing completed this experience.
From now on, If I know that Tastings is catering anything that I am invited to attend in the future.... I will say a very loud YES to that invitation! I recommend them over anyone else!!!

This company ROCKS!!! I was at a wedding at the Village Hall in Framingham last weekend and from the first thing I ate which was the Maple Glazed Scallops in Bacon, until the last of the Warm Apple Cider Donuts were gone... I couldn't tell you what was my favorite... it was all worth a high five!

The Bartenders were the incredible, the staff friendly and the overall party seemed flawless. This is the company to hire, when you want it all! They delivered 150% in my mind. This is a wedding that will be talked about for years to come. The Band that played, Mystique, sure did carry the party into the night. We left happily full and exhausted from so much dancing!

I was at an event that Tastings Caterers was hired for last weekend in the pouring rain! I and my immediate friends just can't believe what an amazing job they did... under such tough circumstances. They worked out of the hot, humid and with not alot of room in the garage, and managed to feed over 180 guests at this event... the food was superb and it was presented with a red, white and blue theme that they took to another level. I can't even decribe the bars.. which were over the top! We almost changed our minds about attending this event due to the poor weather...but ended so pleased with the whole night, that I just had to review them. They are wonderful!!

I don't usually write about my experiences at events, but I had to give a big high five to the staff at Tastings Caterers for making my best friends wedding the best wedding I have ever been to.... and I go to at least 6+ a year at the moment. I have been to Hotels, Inns, Museums and Clubs for weddings of my friends and family, and they didn't compare with the food and service that we all experienced at the Codman Carriage House, Not only was the appetizers wonderful and plentiful, and the buffet was presented as though it was a picture in a magazine like Bon Appetit. It was the food that stole the attention of us all.... The Tenderloin was grilled to perfection! and the Curried Wild Mushroom and Leek Strudel should be in the markets so that people like me can buy it to impress my dinner guests at home.
We all totally agree that their wedding cake was the best ever... so many flavors, so moist and so so yummy!!

Someday, hopefully they WILL be my wedding caterer too!!

I went to a surprise party that was catered by Tastings last weekend. It was wonderful!!!
The food, the staff, the presentation and the birthday cake was above and beyond anything that I've ever been invited to that had a Catering Company handling the party. The last catered event that I attended that had a caterer... was totally awful... the food was cold, and unimaginative and the staff were all snippy and most were temps and didn't even know the food that was being served that night.... ( it certainly wasn't this company!)
it was really nice to see that there can still be great food outside of a restaurant setting. This surprise party was held in a gorgeous Historical Mansion in Lincoln and it was just the right marriage for Tastings Caterers and my friends party. I left there in awe of what they did. If I ever get a chance to hire a caterer... it will be Tastings Caterers!

We were guests this past weekend at the most wonderfully catered party by Tastings Caterers, at Temple Israel in Boston.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated special.... and we were only guests!!
The appetizers were unique, plentiful and passed non-stop. The kids were having so much fun with the DJ, that we could have stayed in cocktail hour for at least 2 hours! Then the food stations opened... it was a total Asian influenced station...We ate way too much at the noodle station... the Chef even new my husbands name(after 4 times up)... the flavors were right on... the presentation at the stations were amazing and whimsical.... I understand that this caterer also did the cousins BarMitzvah last year... and we were so sorry to miss that one... especially now that we have had their food!.
Then when the dessert station was available... we thought that we couldn't eat another item... but those Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes, the Ooey Gooey Vanilla Bites... and did I mention the cookie spoons with chocolate and raspberries? It was sinful and so worth it all at the same time.
I met the owner of the business... who also acted as the photographer for the party...as they didn't hire a professional and had cameras on the tables.. but since everyone was so busy eating and dancing... she took it upon herself to use up these cameras and took hundreds of pictures for the family..... many of us guests said WOW! ,this is going above and beyond in my experiences with caterers.
The parents told us that they were thrilled from the moment they tried the food and met Tastings.... good to know.
We just want to be a guest at all of their catered events.... anyone out there hiring Tastings.." please invite us!!"

They are the best.... you just can't go wrong in our book if you have them as your caterer. I hope to use them in 4 years... when we have our turn.

We hired Tastings for our wedding this past July and they went above and beyond our expectations. From the minute I arrived, I felt no pressure to worry about anything. The staff was wonderful, the drinks plentiful and the food was totally amazing. My parents were so pleased and the compliments about the food and service, that we are still receiving, certainly proved that we made the right choice in this Company. I would recommend them to everyone and hopefully they will be around for many more years to come. ( maybe when we have a daughter getting married in say 30 years?!)
My husband can't rave enough about the wedding cake.. no one has cakes that taste like Sue's.
We can't thank them enough for all they did to create the wedding of our dreams..

Used Tastings 3x. Can not say enough about the quality of their catering, the professionalism of their staff, inventiveness in stretching budget, and association with other vendors and facilities.

Will definitely use them a 4th time, when the occasion arises.

Always recommend when the subject comes up.

I was a guest at a wedding that this Co. catered in May at the Codman Carriage House in Lincoln, MA. It was a tribute to them for all they did to make this a special wedding for my friends.
This Couple certainly made them work hard that day. Moving a complete restaurant into an open field for dinner. No tent, not lights and no cooking facilities. The meal was fantastic! It was hot, tasty and beautifully presented. My hat is off to them all!

I do know that this bride was difficult to work with(it was hard just to be a guest with her demands), but that's the way she is. Being a "service person" in her real job, should have made her appreciate all the work that was being put into her wedding, but she still was "bridzilla" to us all.

I can only attest to the great foods from cocktail hour thru the mini desserts... as they did not make the cake (which I heard was heavy and gross). I personally thanked the staff and commented to the chef how much my friends and I loved all the food and was amazed at the whole scenario.

Hire them ... they are incredible

I just had the most incredible experience with this caterer at my friends wedding at a Botanic Garden in the Worcester area. It was one of the best meals I have ever had... and at a wedding no less!!! The appetizers were abundant... and hot... the meal was cooked without a kitchen... they grilled on site and it was truly "melt in your mouth" tenderloin. Then the dessert buffet was like no other... 4 differents kinds of wedding cake, warm cookies baked on site and passed with milk shots... and the finger pastries and fruit.. topped off a truly wonderful evening for us all. I know that the bride and groom were over the moon with happiness.

I hope that I get to be a guest again at a Tastings party... it will be an invitation that I would never refuse.... in a million years!

Pros: Great Service... spectacular food with flavor

Cons: none - except that the venue was hot

I have had the most incredible experience with this caterer... they went above and beyond anything that we ever thought we could have... escpecially in our budget. My friends and family LOVED the food and the presentations... and the desserts are the best anywhere I've ever been... and I travel alot.

They took care of everything and made it the perfect event.

I would recommend them to everyone over and over again

I had a wonderful experience with this caterer. I helped plan a friends wedding and they did an incredible job!! The food was excellent and the service impecable. Everyone raved about the food. My friend was thrilled with the reasonable pricing. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! I saved a stack of their business cards so I would always have their information available to recommend them.

They were truly wonderful to work with. Both Sue and Barbara are sweethearts to deal with. They answered my endless questions and allowed me several in-person meetings. The food was good and the pricing was extremely reasonable no hidden costs and they didnt charge the typical 18% gratuity, 5% administrative fee. The stationary hors devours were ready to go when guests arrived a half hour early. Tastings also baked our 3 layered, 3 flavored cake for very little extra. We also got ALL of the leftover food to take home with us. Negatives were relatively scarce table service (see above water incident) and they were sometimes difficult to get a hold of. They ran out of potatoes at one of the food stations (not a very big deal though since we had so many other starches to choose from.)

Tastings Caterers catered my wedding last year and did a fabulous job. That day, I was very at ease and confident that their event coordinator had everything under control. People loved the food and especially the cake. I've been told by many guests that it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. This is because you can have multiple flavors and they are made with mousse or cheesecake fillings. Yum! Prior to the wedding day, working with them was very easy. They were very helpful when it came to selecting the menu items, and their pricing couldn't be beat. They were tough to get a hold of sometimes, but that didn't affect their performance on the wedding day.

PROS: Awesome cake, great food, great prices
CONS: Tough to get a hold of on the phone
