I just moved to Charlestown and have tried every place in town.Though the town does'nt offer many choices, unless you count Dunkin Donuts, I'd have to say Sorelle Cafe is the best. In the morning I stop into the older original Sorelle and get good strong coffee and a tasty scone. The service is fast and friendly. The other cafe in the Navy Yard is bigger and great for grilled sandwiches. Excellent yogurt parfait!
I tried that other place Zume on the Main St. and found it kind of sloopy, with not very good food.

The location at City Square has poor quality food. I have tried to eat there many times (my office is located in the same building), but the food is often distasteful. The prepackaged vegetarian salads are fine, but anything cooked is bland, overcooked, dried out, etc. Even the chocolate cookies, which look tasty, have an odd flavor and consistency. With prices this high, the food should be fresh and tasty, but it is far from it. Also the cleanliness needs to be improved. The small metal trays they serve the food on are sticky and not washed properly, and the tables need to be wiped down more often. Overall, they need to focus on improving the quality of their cooked items and improve the cleanliness.

Sorelle has survived due to location/convenience/lack of competition. The baked goods are ok and the coffee a step above DD... apologies to you DD drinkers(though if you are reading a Sorelle review you are most likely not DD person;)). Head up Warren Street unit it merges with Main and check out the new place.....Zume it is on the right They have great baked goods(strawberry scone my fav) and the coffee is the best in C'town. Nice interior with comfy leather chairs to relax in and read the free copies of the Globe and Herald they put out.

Sorelle is a Charlestown institution- a small bake shop/caterer that is located in a cute and historic storefront in the cities gas light district. Sorelle is great for your morning coffee beverage (there is no Starbucks in this part of town) and they make absolutely the best muffins anywhere around. The muffins are delicious and you can smell them baking every morning throughout the neighborhood. yum!
