This is an excellent antique shop. I love how the owner has everything arranged so nicely, it's a far cry from those dusty dirty places most are. The owner is very knowledgable but doesn't hard sell you. At first, I mistook him for being aloof but then after a bit realized he was there to help but leaves people to roam and explore on there own. As Andrew explained later: He doesn't like to be pressured by sales people so doesn't do the same to his customers. I found 19th Victorian, Empire and Sheraton period pieces there as well as some excelllent quality furniture from the 1900s. And, much to my delight, a few Art Deco and mid-century things. Plus, the prices are very reasonable, he could get 50% more for some of things I saw. Their web site is on my list of daily favorites to I can check in on new arrivals and see what's sale priced.

This is really one hellacious store! They have great period pieces and some excellent high quality vintage furniture as well. Don't confuse it with the junk store up the street that sell broken VCRs, at the Roadhouse in Norwood they know an antique when they see one. But, they aren't dumb enough like the nieghbors to try to tell you a 1970s console record player is valuable! The cute blonde curly guy that runs the store has a right to proud of a business that's not only surviving this economy but thriving. Too bad the rest of the square can't ask him how he does it.

What a really wonderful find this store is. The moment we stepped in the owner, Andrew gave us a greeting, informed us their was a downstairs and then...LEFT US ALONE. No badgering, no pesky salesperson following us about trying to sell us everything.

He had some wonderful old music playing, and when I asked he told me about the internet radio station Pandora. I'd never heard of it but now have it on my computer.

I suppose to some who are used to fawning salepeople or enjoy suck ups, the style at the Antique Roadhouse might be mistaken as attitude. It really isn't, not one bit. I now because i asked him about it and he explained his philosophy of greeting customers then letting them be. He told me he doesn't need a salesman to sell him something and will ask if he has questions so he transferred that to his own store.

And I think it's a super ethic. No pushy salesman, just very knowledgable owner operator...if you need him. We bought a couple of things and are thinking about something else we saw. We'll most definately be back, Andrew and his Antique Roadhouse have made us devoted customers and constant gawkers at his ever expanding web site.
Bravo!

This is one great antique furniture store. I emailed Andrew last week about wanting to see a diningroom set on his web site. Turns out he was on vacation for Christmas week but Andrew interrupted his first week off in a year to meet us at the store. In fact, he arrived an hour early to turn on the heat and shovel the sidewalk just for us. Andrew is a nice guy. He was charming and helpful gave us our space, basically leaving us to roam the shop without pestering us like so many dealers do. His shop has a wonderful eclectic mix, he obviously likes his business and has fun doing it. We ended up buying something we hadn't even come for but that's the cool thing about going to places like Andrew's Antique Roadhouse, you never know what delights you'll find. We'll be returning often and watch the web site for new things

We live on Beacon Hill and can tell you that The Antique Roadhouse beats anything on Charles Street. Andrew got us great prices for all our pieces, all without the attitude one gets from the shops in Boston. His men who came to pick up our antique furniture were polite , courteous and thoroughly professional. I was amazed that they spent more time carefully wrapping and securing the pieces out on the truck than they did actually moving it. These men obviously respected fine antiques as much as Andrew. Even though we are down sizing, I still adore browsing his web site to check out all the latest finds. And, be sure to visit his shop, he has a wacky sense of humor, you can tell by some of the wild things he has there. One never knows what Andrew will come up with or where he gets such wonderful pieces.
