Churn

by Kate K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,988

Have not been here for awhile although I used them for years. It's a big practice so there are a number of vets there which is good and bad. You can almost always get an appointment in the near future but not always with the vet you want. Also, vets churn through there pretty quickly and prices are a little high.

excellent care

by Anonymous

My animal has been very well cared for at this hospital. The vet we see has been very good with my dog. When my dog was sick the vet was very caring, she sent home a typed report of every test they did, every medicine they gave (and why) and instructions. The secretary and the vet both called within a few days to check in.

This office has changed a lot over the decade

by Anonymous

I have been going to FPAH for 11 years. My dog hasn't seen the same vet for the last 8 years. They seem to rotate staff like a retail store. The last one we saw was a few months ago, she lacked knowledge and people skills. She seemed frazzled and unable to provide good information about simple facts on Lypomas (amoung other things). There prices have sky rocketed over the past very few years. It seems to me FPAH has become a money grabbing corporation over these recent years. I will be seeing a new vet next week with zero reviews as of yet... I will leave my findings when we have some good info.

Vet jumped to a wrong conclusion

by Diana M.

I took my 20 year old cat to this hospital because she had some swelling in her jaw. She had lost a tooth. The vet's first diagnosis was that she had cancer of the jaw (supposedly typical in older cats) but he had not even looked in her mouth yet. Because she was 20, he quickly started talking about putting her down. I asked if he would do something to rule out an abscess before talking about putting her down. After I held her, he finally looked and said he would give her antibiotics and if it were indeed an abscess, then the swelling would go down, if not, then it was probably cancer. The swelling went down and I called another doctor. I cried all afternoon.

Vet Experience

by Anonymous

I recently moved to the area and needed to switch vets. I used insiderpages to find the best in the area.

They were very welcoming and helpful in treating an acute issue with my dog. They were also very effective at creating a plan for future visits and perceived future issues.

Although I was guilted a bit by the vet about some of my ignorance, it was probably deserved. However, I cannot be angry or upset because it was clear that they cared. I was very happy with the visit and I will be going back to them for the foreseeable future.

On a side note, it was interesting that they were more concerned about my dog's dental issues than anything else. No other vet was as concerned about my dog's teeth as they were.

Very Caring Service

by Kathleen K.

I brought my somewhat mean cat for an emergency visit. The vet we saw was patient and caring especially as the cat is not easy. We saw Dr Perkins - I highly recommend her. She was very competent. Even though we've moved, I still bring the cat to her for routine visits.

Wonderful, caring veteranary clinic!!

by Lisa P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,574

We have two cats and we have had negative vet experiences in the past, so we hesitate to take them just anywhere for medical care.

A few years ago, one of our cats injured herself and we had to bring her for emergency care. Fresh Pond was the only place open at the time (it was early in the morning) so we went there. We were very pleasantly surprised with how much everyone cared for our cat and worked very hard to make sure she was ok. We have exclusively brought both our cats to Fresh Pond from that point on.

Excellent

by Tiffany B. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,079

This office is wonderful. We have been taking our pets there for many many years. The staff is caring and remembers you right away. The fees are quite resonable. They send you a yearly reminder card for check ups and what vaccines will be needed.

Excellent and caring!

by Sandra C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,895

Excellent service and reasonable fees (e.g. $44 for an office visit for a cat). I got great tips for dealing with my cat's shedding problems and they take their time to talk with you and your pet. They also give a free animal tag at each visit.

Big disappoinment & I'm not even a client

by reneeg9

I'm in the Belmont area temporarily and have a diabetic cat. I was running low on syringes for him and called to find out that if I had my vet fax his prescription over could I please pick up a box. They will not help unless my cat is a patient of theirs. Thanks but no thanks. Of all the vets I've worked with this is a first. So they would make me pay for an appointment then they would sell me the syringes. What a ripoff. The good news is that there are other vets in the area and I don't have to deal with this arrogance. I would give this group no stars, but since they answered the phone, I guess it's worth one star.

Worst vet I have ever dealt with

by kristi1000

this was the worst experience I have ever had with a vet. I went to them for help concerning a ferrel cat, an was they actually insulted me and my situation. It was horrible, if you want to deal with people with a soul, do NOT go here.

Fantastic vet hospital!

by citygal33

I brought my cat to Fresh Pond for her yearly exam and was impressed by the facility and staff. The hospital was very clean and everyone was professional and attentive. The doctor that we saw was concerned about being proactive about my cat's health, especially her teeth! I'm so glad that I found a great place that I can trust with my cat.
