Truly Wonderful

by Matthew W.

I lived in Brookline for 2 years, and this was my go-to place for awesome food. A huge array of food items on the menu, an incredible beer selection, and the best steam beer burgers ever!

fantastic

by Jessica E. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,512

With possibly the most beers on tap in the area, this place is phenomenal. The food is top notch and service is generally great. One of my favorite things on the beer menu is the flight option where you get four 5oz. beers in the same family (pumpkin patch, stout). It's a great way to sample while still knowing it's something you'll like.

Go for the sports

by David L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,095

As many other reviewers have made note of, the place has a good selection of about 100 beers on tap. So you won't find it easy to make a selection. I go here most often with buddies to watch sports. The venue is a little more low-key than your average Allston hang-out, so come here to sit back and actually enjoy watching the game--as opposed to watching your back. Also, the food, if your wallet can handle it, is very good.

Overwhelming Selection of Beer

by Patricia M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 939

Sunset Grill and Tap offers an overwheliming selection of beers. They literally have hundreds of beers on tap. The food is your standard bar food. It's a great place to meet up with friends.

OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE

by Eric P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,825

I just went here for the first time last week, after living in Boston for 2 years. I'm furious that I wasted those 2 years not coming here! The food is unbelievable, one of the best burgers I've ever had, maybe THE best. Great appetizers and everything else too. Prices are great. Oh, and by the way, 112 beers on tap and 400 more in bottles. You're crazy if that doesn't do it for you.

Great food, cool atmosphere

by Jennifer W. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,647

I've been here a few times, and all I remember was how much I enjoyed their portabello mushroom burger and fries. They have a good selection for vegetarians, great drinks, and a cool atmosphere for hanging with your friends. Good prices, and all-around good service from what I recall. Try the portabello mushroom burger!

Its not just a terrible Don Henley song anymore!

by Jeff B. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,429

Boasting the largest beer selection and one of the largest food menus in New England, the Sunset Grill is Allstons best spot for casual dining.

Spicy Mexican selections (try the quesadillas, which are jam packed with meat and veggies) and traditional American fare (all-you-can-eat ribs on Monday and Tuesday nights!) are their specialties. The salads are fresh and filling and the steamed beer burgers are thick, juicy and cooked to order (yes, even rare) and come with pretty much anything youd want to put on them; get one with their fantastic onion rings for a substantial meal.

Whatever you get, make sure you wash it all down with a few glasses of your favorite selection from the massive beer menu. And if you have trouble deciding, your waiter can help you choose; these kids know their hops.

The service can be slow, and the wait gets a little long during peak hours of course, but its worth your time on both accounts. Grab a beeper, sidle up to the bar and get a head start on the liquid portion of your meal. Just don't order a Jack and Coke - they don't have a hard liquor license, so it's beer only!

PROS: Great food, lots of rare beers
CONS: No hard liqour, long dinner wait on the weekends
