I love my Hair!!!
by hamomail
I was tired of my old stylist not giving me any new suggestions so I looked up some salons and ended up at Blu. This salon was cool and relaxing. The staff made me feel totally comfortable. My appointment was with Kayla and she gave me two totally different takes on what I could go with for a new style. I felt comfortable enough to let her decide and now I have a look that is all my own! Thank you so much I love it!!!!!
Pros: Great view of Newbury street, Not Newbury Street prices
Cons: No tip on credit card

This is a very small hip salon on Newbury st. It was overpriced. I didn't think the work was greater then any where else.
Pros: it's newbury st
Cons: no parking, overpriced, ego's

Great experience at BLU Salon
by mrjb521
I actually seleted this Salon on City search :) . I live in Europe and was coming to Boston on business and needed a cut and color. Sooo, I made an appt at BLU not know who would cut my hair ( it was Erin)
Well , to make a long story short I told her what I wanted and she actually suggested something a bit difference regarding color. Well, she was right and the result was great in addition to cutting my hair exactly as asked. Nice to know there are still people who are professionals and make the right calls when working with customers especially hair..
Great cut and color!!
Pros: Very skilled and personable
Cons: Newbury parking

Best Hair Coloring
by bknow0824
Actually, I don't know if all the stylists provide the best color, but mine does. I followed my stylist, Layla, from Niall Roberts to Blu. She's the best. When I moved to RI for a few years, she gave me my color formula so I could get the same look there. I'd follow her anywhere.
Pros: Service is excellent from beverages and food to the actual appointment. They've even run out to put more money in the meter if I need it.

One of the best salons!
by dmet
I love Blu Salon. My sister recommended this place to me and I loved it. Erin (the stylist) did a great job with my haircut. She understood exactly what I meant and showed me different ways to style my hair. The hair treatment was fabulous too! They also do not pressure you into buying hair products; but I was impressed with the ghd flat iron they used on me that I ended up buying one at the salon.
Too bad I don't live in Boston anymore...but I'll if I'm ever in the area I'll make sure to make an appointment. Worth going back to!!
Pros: Great service; Skilled Stylists

i hate to admit it but im the type to judge a book by its cover... i walked past blu during xmas last year and it seemed pretty cool, so i decided to try it out. first off, the employees at blu seem to have some real attitude problems. they just all seemed really snooty and like they were better than you! my stylist didnt really seem to listen to me.. my color faded more quickly than it ever has (pink highlights) even though she spent what seemed like forever doing a treatment that she said would last for a while, and my cut was very so-so. overall, not impressed at all. definitely not worth what i paid.

Best salon in Boston
by junegemini
I have been a client at BLU Salon since the summer of 2004. They continue to achieve my very utmost expectations and I always leave this salon feeling like a million bucks. My stylist is always very knowledgable about products for my hair 's needs (I have very curly hair and like to wear it straight), and always gives me her recommendations and tips in order to maintain my hairstyle until my next visit. In addition, I've also had excellent manicures and eyebrow shaping from Victoria who also has achieved several Best of Boston awards for her exceptional services. This salon is also very clean and comfortable and I would highly recommend it.
Pros: Goldwell color, not too harsh on hair

Great Coloring Service
by vanillamint
This salon gave me perhaps the best color work I've ever gotten in Boston. My stylist was also very knowledgable about products for my special hair needs, and recommended a great leave-in conditioner for my dry hair. I was unsure of the color I wanted for my highlights, but I knew I wanted something that added more life to my hair but was still subtle. Her color suggestions had just the right effect and I love it!
Pros: color products aren't harsh on hair
Cons: tip must be in cash

Best Manicure in Boston!
by vgenin
When I moved to Boston a few months ago, a co-worker recommended Victoria. At the time I had no idea that she's a four time winner of the Best of Boston Award. After I received an eye brow wax, manicure and a pedicure, I can honestly say that both my nails and eye brows have never looked better! What I really liked about Victoria is that not only does she take the time to listen to what I like, she really takes her time to pamper you to perfection. You never feel rushed, on the contrary, the experience is both soothing and invigorating! The facility is beautiful, sparkling and relaxing. Victoria is both professional and courteous. Victoria will exceed all of your expectations!

exactly what i wanted
by emanyc76
i am new in town and was referred here by a friend and i loved my experience there. leila talked with me about what i wanted, what had been done before, etc - and did exactly what i wanted but was unable to explain properly. and at a reasonable price (as compared to my former nyc salon). she told me what products she used and did a soft sell of them, but i did not feel pressured in any way. all in all, a good experience.
Pros: good service, nice people

Can I get what I want?
by mlmgirlie
Well first of all I am not happy with this salon at all.I went in the salon with expectations of a haircut and a color I wanted. She said she couldn't do any of the hairstyles because my hair wouldn't work with them, she couldn't give me the blonde color I wanted because it would ruin my hair. She is suppost be master colorist does she tell everyone who wants blonde hair it will ruin their hair?I should have just left when she told me this, but I stayed and got brown hair with hardly any blonde highlights. If you really wanna go here do not let them tell you what you can have, tell them what you want and if they cant do it leave!!!Now I have to go somewhere to get my hair done the way I want it.
Cons: 3 seats to wait, very small

An Oasis of Relaxation
by boston11
I decided to splurge after finals and treat myself to a desperately needed pedicure and manicure and so, a friend of mine recommended to me Blu Salon. I went in without any expectations, as previous experiences did not fulfill my perfectionist nature. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised, not only were my nails and toes impeccable and flawlessly painted, the classical music in the background and the soothing 3 Time Winner of Best of Boston really knew her trade. On top of being a top notch professional, she's courteous, funny and very helpful! I highlly recommend Victoria and Blu Salon.

Result OK but not a pleasurable experience
by eddy007
Like many my life doesn't allow me to spend all my time in salons getting buffed and polished. Pedicurist kept going on and on about how awful my feet were (and really they were not that bad). If it had to be said at all, once would have been sufficient! Of course I could see that my feet were not the best they could be, why did she think I was there?!! In my opinion, I was paying her to work on my feet, but she gave off the impression I should be grateful to be there. So after a mental battering I paid my $65 (and despite what this website says, they only take cash) and left. While the pedicure lasted well, the whole experience felt like a chore and I couldn't wait to leave.

Very Impressed
by ees
I am a student here in Boston, and I searched through this website to try to find a good hair salon that wasn't to expensive. I saw all the good reviews about Blu, and I decided to check it out. And it was WELL worth it. I had my hair cut with Leila, and she was AMAZING. She even recomended certain brushes and products to use that weren't what Blu carried - and she told me where to find them. She was completely honest with me, and I love my new haircut. As a total salon, Blu has my vote. They were extremely courteous, clean, friendly, and the whole place had an overall great vibe.
Pros: Great value, Nice environment

Love Blu Salon
by boston1007
I have been going to Blu since it opened several years ago. After going through years of bad luck on Newbury Street, Blu Salon has been a breath of fresh air. My experience there is always a great one. I get my hair colored by the superb master colorist, and, after sipping on tea offered to me by the lovely receptionist, I get the best cut I have had in years by one of Blu's senior stylists. It's evident that these stylists have the experience and creativity that is often so hard to find. (Note: I was in a bind month's ago and needed my hair cut last minute. My regular stylist was booked full so I saw one of the jr. stylists, and she was fantastic!) I highly recommend Blu Salon. It is cool, laid-back, and never pretentious, which is often the case on Newbury Street.
Pros: Awesome color/cut!!, Reasonable prices, Friendly service
Cons: Newbury St parking...

Don't let the quaint atmosphere and hip young staff trick you into thinking you'll get exactly what you want. The stylist (supposedly a master hair stylist) had no idea what I wanted and just gave me confused looks. She was not friendly. I asked her to frame my face and more, but she just ended up trimming hair. After awhile I got tired of telling her what I wanted. I can't believe I spent $40 on a trim. I have permed hair, the curls and thin and spiral. I asked her to touch up on the loose curls, so she get a 1 in curling iron and starts curling my hair. Instead of giving me small spiral, she gave me big curls at the tip of my hair.
I was very dissatisfied with the place over all. I would have paid much more to actually get what I asked for.
Pros: nice place, on time, cheap
Cons: not friendly, can't comprehend

Well worth a splurge for yourself at Blu
by twilight_sky
My experience at Blu was great! I'm infamous for switching salons, but since I've been to Blu I stayed. Leila gave me the best coloring (red w/ highlights) that I've ever had and completely updated and sophisticated my hair cut. The pricing was half of what I've paid at other Newbury St. salons for superior service. The atmosphere is attentive yet relaxed. I highly recommend Blu!
Pros: Color, Great Cut/Layering, Very Attentive Staff

I have been going to Kayla for seven years now. She is absolutely the best! I can always ask for her honest opinion about color and cuts and she has supported me and made me look amazing throughout the many hair decisions I have made. Highly recommended!

I visited Blu for the first time and was truly surprised. The staff were friendly , approachable and truly skilled. I came back to Boston after long vacation in hopes to have my hair fized. It really needed some serious work. Leila gave me a great haircut - modern and manageable, and Kayla absolutely revived my color. I love going there becasue you leave feeling a different person.

I just visited Blu Salon on Newbury after my friend had insisted that I try it out for quite awhile. My experience there have truly exceeded all of my expectations. Upon my arrival I was offered a cup of fresh coffee which I enjoyed by the window while reading magazines and watching people on Newbury. My stylist Bee didn't make me wait. She was great. She assessed my hair and gave me a great professional consultation. She did my color, toned it, cut it and gave me the best makeover I needed so badly. I'm glad I finally found a salon to which I will be going back soon and can recommend to my friends. I was also able to restock on my favorite B&bumble and Phytologie which will come in handy this summer. Friendly atmosphere, professional and knowledgeable staff, affordable prices - I loved it.
Pros: Open late, Easy to get an apt., Inexpensive

I actually followed my stylist from another salon to Blu and have been very happy. Blu is a great place to retreat and relax for a while, and my stylist Leila is great! The prices are also very reasonable - I'd highly recommend her or any other stylist there.
Pros: Great service, Reasonable prices, Good atmosphere

She's the one!
by technochino
I moved here from California and was really worried about finding a new stylist. I tried a couple of places on Newbury but was not happy with any of them. I happened to come across the Blu Salon and decided to try them out. I got a stylist name Karen and she was awesome! I haven't gone to another salon since! She's trained at Vidal in SF and LA and luckily for me is now in Boston. She is a perfectionist and will cut your hair exactly how you want it. I highly recommend her! Ask for one of her neck & scalp massages, you won't regret it!
Pros: Excellent cuts, Reasonable prices, Scalp massages!
