Complete menu changes daily and includes soup, salad, appetizers, entrees, fresh baked Indian bread and dessert. A must for Indian food lovers. Bukhara?s menu has a tremendous variety of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Nightly specials allow Bukhara?s chefs to try new recipes from all the regions of India. A weekend brunch buffet and takeout are also available.

In Short
Owned by the same folks who brought the Back Bay's Kashmir to culinary fame, Bukhara is similarly upscale. It occupies a beautiful gilded space that looks out on busy Centre Street in J.P.; there's dim lighting and soft, unobtrusive service. A large, well-priced menu, featuring nightly specials and a fantastic lunch buffet, actively attracts patrons from outside the J.P. city line. Bukhara features cuisine from both the northern and southern regions of India.

Bukhara Bistro is GREAT

by abbeytown

Recent transplant to Jamaica Plain and I just found the most darling indian bistro. Went with a few new friends on Wednesday evening and liked it so much I went back with my boyfriend last night. This food is soooooo good. I had curry on Wednesday and Tandorri chicken last night and OMG it was just the best!! It is such a lovely restaurant - so much better than most of the place I have been in this city and so reasonably priced. It was fun and lively. There was about a 15-20 minute wait Saturday evening but my bad I didn't make a reservation, got seated right away on Wednesday. Oh and free parking - can't beat that. Safe to say I will be eating often at Bukhara. If you haven't been there already do try it. The food was yummy. I am going to try everything on the menu - will take many many trips as the menu is quite extensive. I asked for spicy and I got spicy, my boyfriend asked for mild and he got mild. We were very happy and he was very happy with the bill. Good food to keep you warm in this cold weather. Try it. I loved it and I hope you will too.

Pros: Charming, delicious food, friendly people, free parking, very reasonable price

Cons: Can't think of any cons - really loved this restaurant

Bukhara is the jewel of Jamaica Plain!

by romat

I highly recommend Bukhara. The food here is great, always fresh, always perfectly prepared, the portions are so big that there is always enough left for lunch and/or dinner the next day - and the price is great. Where can you get three meals for under $20. Indian food was new to me in 1999 when Bukhara opened and the wait staff has always been very helpful in explaining the dishes. I love this place. It is worth making a special trip to JP. The restaurant decor is very charming. The free parking in the back is a plus. But the best thing about Bukhara is the food. I have never had a bad experience here. And I have never been told they were out of an item I wanted to order. I encourage everyone to try this restaurant. The food is so delicious! My personal favorite is the chicken tikka masala - this tomatoe sauce is the best I have ever had - my compliments to the Chef! Bukhara is the jewel of Jamaica Plain. Keep up the good work!

Pros: Food, food, food! Portions, free parking

Cons: None

PATHETIC!!

by Rahul1831

The worst restraunt I have ever been to in US, Utterly disappointed with the service and the food. We went around 2 hours before closing time of restraunt. They didnt have anything we wanted and all we got from the menu was just 2-4 items. We ordered (considering the LONG DRIVE) .. SAVE YOURSELF A EVENING AND WHO WANTS TO WASTE A EVENING WITH THIS CRAPPY PLACE... I AM SURE ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE DONE BY THOSE LOOSERS!!!

Go for the buffet

by quinniepants

The buffet is the best deal around, so go during the afternoon on the weekend to take advantage of it. The food is superb, really delicious Indian food with the right balance of spices. If you go for a regular dinner here, you still get the high-quality food, but it is a little pricey for what you get. And the waiters are really, truly bad. They are not only disinterested and unresponsive, but seem to silently judge you. I'm serious, if you go you'll see what I'm talking about. Apart from the weird waiters, the food is fantastic. Just be sure to get take out or go to the buffet.

Pros: Big parking lot behind the restaurant, excellent samosas, unbeatable buffet

Cons: waitstaff

Poor Service, Mediocre Food

by flights

I went to Bukhara last night since I had heard some good things about the place, but was sorely disappointed. I have never had such rude waitstaff anywhere. It took forever for the waiter to take our order, and the drinks showed up after the appetizers were served. When we asked for our leftovers for a box, the waiter put the dish on top of the plates that he was clearing away. This to me is a definite no-no! As for the food, it's just mediocre. Nothing stood out. I definitely won't be going there or recommending this place to anyone!

Pros: Parking

Cons: Poor Service

Solid Indian spot

by kidray

I like Bukhara, but I think it's a bit overrated in reality. The food is good no doubt, but you're paying for it and the ambience, in my view, isn't all that great. It's just ok. I know everything is expensive in Boston, but I find their prices a bit higher than other Indian resturants in the general area. Nevertheless, it's a solid solid option for Indian cuisine. But it's nothing that will blow-you-away.

Pros: Good Indian food with a great location in JP

Cons: Pricey for what you get

Good restaurant but...

by tashpatell

Bukhara is the place to go if you are craving for Indian buffet. The food and service is pretty good and their prices are very reasonable. Its also a huge plus for them that there is a lot of parking at the back of the restaurant. The only bad thing about them is that they have not really changed anything in their buffet. I just wished they would either add new food or change what they always have especially for people like me who go there all the time.

Pros: good food, good price

Indian Buffet

by meredith4444

This is JP's only Indian restaurant and is not as inexpensive as other Indian restaurants ( if you are willing to drive). The average dish is about 12 dollars. The food is pretty consistently good but not stellar. The portion sizes are kind of small. The buffet on the weekends is your best bet. The service is very good.

Cons: expensive

Vegan friendly and yummy

by veganbostondotcom

This place serves some of the best Indian food I've had in Boston, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan friendly options on the menu.
