As if...

by Laura M.

I moved to Waltham from Southern Calfornia and chose Waltham because of the multi-cultural richness that the city provided. While exploring the town, I saw the Iguana Cantin which tauted serving Mexican food. Being Mexican myself, I was overjoyed because if we go too long without good Mexican food we get surly and cantankerous. I looked at the Iguana Cantina menu and what sadly disappointing catastrophe was right there for all to see? WRAPS! Which is exactly what I yelled incredulously at their door. Followed by "No self respecting Mexican would eat, serve, much less have on a menu something so clearly NOT Mexican! Turn in your membership cards, IMPOSTORS!!!"

After about nine months, I was convinced, though through resistance, to have a meal there. What was I treated to, you wonder? Fruffy, sickeningly sweet cocktails parading around as margaritas and some of the worst food I've ever had the misfortune of being served. The people were really nice though.

Great Mexican food and decor

by Patricia M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 914

This place has great Mexican food and margaritas. The decor is truly fitting for the Mexican theme. They even have a talking iquana that meets you at the door.

My favorite Mexican place

by Tiffany T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,836

Iguana Cantina has the best Mexican food, at the best prices, with the best laid-back ambiance ever. Whenever I go here, I get something different - because it's all good and I want to try everything. And you cannot beat the prices!

taco night

by David K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,690

I've come here often, but only on Thursday because of their taco night. If you buy any drink, you can eat as many tacos/burritos you want. There is a table set with meat, cheese, veggies, and other toppings.

Great Environment and Specials

by BostonIsForLovers

After my first experience there, my friends and I became regulars. I love the atmosphere, the food is great and the people are nice. The owners are welcoming and it is evident how much they appreciate their regulars. They have an outdoor patio which is great in warm weather, lots of TV's if you want to watch the game, half-priced appetizers during Boston games, and $2 miller lite drafts. There is also trivia on Wednesdays, where you can win gift certificates. I have recommended this place to all my friends, and everyone who has gone loves it. My high school friends and I get together around Thanksgiving time every year, and this year I suggested we meet at the New Landing and we had a great time together. Plus they accommodate big groups because there is so much space and seating options.
I am a vegetarian, and when I eat there I know I have options because they have a variety of meals that apply to any taste, not just meat and bar food.
Moody Street has a lot of options, but this is by far one of my favorite spots.

Pros: great sports bar, half-priced apps, $2 miller lites, lots of room, trivia wednesdays

Cons: not a good place if you are looking for a cheap entree

comfortable, friendly restaurant

by bizzybee29

I just got back from dinner at the new landing - i have nothing but good things to say. i was greeted in a friendly way by the bouncer and the hostess. we started at the bar where the bar tender was very attentive and the fancy drink I had was really good! we then went into the restaurant part to eat and were given a booth where we could see a # of tvs to watch the celts game. The waitress was very accomodating and we got our food quickly. We had appetizers and dinner and all was very good. I highly recommend the steak fries, the onion soup, and the chicken fajita wrap. I would definitely go back.

Pros: friendly, comfortable atmosphere

Worst "upscale" Sports Bar experience in Waltham/Cambridge/Boston area.

by al2323

It was the worst sports bar we have ever been to. Nice TVs but horrible atmosphere unless you know the owners. We stuck to the tables! Tables were dirty, booths casually patched up. It's like a post-fraternity house. Worst place on Moody Street (or general Waltham area). Good place for guys to watch sports. Food - nothing special. Service - terrible. Would not go back there. If they want to stay in business, my recommendation is to appeal to more people - not just your buddies. Not recommended at all.

Pros: Food was same as most sports bars, nice TVs

Cons: Terrible service, dirty environment, frat style greetings to their buddies

The New Landing Rocks!!!

by Buffalove74

The New Landing is an awesome place to hang out. The food is great. I love the 10 cent wings and the $2 drafts. The staff is always welcoming and very friendly. The New Landing has a good crowd and there is something there for everyone. Plenty of t.v.s to watch any game you want on Football Sundays. I would definately recommend this place to my friends and family!

Awesome food, Amazing atmosphere

by LCizzle

The New Landing has a remarkable dining atmosphere, attractive to all age groups. Their menu accomodates just about everyones taste buds ..a wide range of tasty appetizers, unique burgers and wraps and phenominal entrees...not to mention the BEST fried seafood in the area. I have been there several times since they have opened this summer and have yet to complain. Whatever the occasion may be.. beer appetizers and sports with my freinds, quiet dinner on the patio, family get togethers, wednesday night trivia, or just to grab a few drinks the girls... I always have a great time. Also, New Landing offers a weekend late night menu... which does not end until 12:30am! Can't beat that anywhere! I am a huge fan, and highly recommend the New Landing to everyone!!

Pros: patio, food, prices, atmoshphere
