The Fort is an institution in Springfield. I remember going there with my parents and grandparents when I was a child. The atmosphere of old world Germany is enchanting. The food is excellent and the prices are not too too high. The service has always been very efficient but not overly friendly and somewhat rushed at times. They accommodate large party's well. Their game nights or specials are great. All in all an excellent restaurant.

This is my man's favorite bar and restaurant. The Student Prince is the preferred hang out for the Who's Who in Springfield and the surrounding area. They are a German place and have they best white and tan beer. My guy was a bit upset when they stopped allowing cigar smoking because it was real popular. So it was a 5 star and now is more of a 3.5 star but we will give it a 4.

The Student Prince is a land mark in Spfld. for many years. I remember going there with my parents when I was a little girl. The atmosphere has not changed in the inside. They have carolers sing during the week of Christmas. It is a place that brings back many memories.

What a wonderful landmark this establishment is. You are greeted by the owner at the door and quickly seated. The atmosphere is true bavarian hunting lodge. The wait staff have been there for years and are excellent. You can have the lunch special for around $7.50 including dessert!

We walk to the Fort once or twice a week for lunch from work. The food is great and so are the homemade chips. Love the cucumber salad. A good value for the price of lunch.

Had a great time enjoying OctoberFest at its finest; The collection of Steins and Cork strew openers was fantastic; The beer was not bad either!!!
The Front bar was crouded put no seemed to mind; the Back bar was very spacious; both had a very festive environment. The staff was dressed in the typical Octoberfest tradition which only made the atmosphere that much more enjoyable

We had a late dinner at the Student Prince, and it was a bit disappointing. The atmosphere is wonderful, located on a back wall is a collection of antique corkscrews, very interesting to look at. The gentleman who seated us was very friendly and polite. The waitress was friendly but a little on the slow side. We waited approximately 15 minutes for our check after she had cleared our dishes.
We were a little disappointed in the portion sizes and the quality of the meals. It had been so long since we had found a German Restaurant close enough to us, we were excited.
Prices are a little extreme--it was about $20 a person (w/tax and tip, no alcohol). The kids only ordered chicken tenders, and that is with no side dishes of any kind.
Unfortunately this restaurant will not be added to our "Go Back Again List".
