This is a very good zoo. We love going there and spending the day. You can easily spend a couple of hours just looking at all animals. The kids and parents all had a great tjme. It was very memorable experience. It was big. The staff was awesome and so helpful. They explained alot regarding the animals.

How could you not find fun at a zoo. This zoo is located in Dorchester MA. For the part of the city it is located the zoo is kept in good condition. There were so many animals to choose from. It took us hours to go through the whole zoo. There were flamingos, sheeps, goats and other animals. Lots to touch including the sheep and goats. Oh what a day the kids had.

The Franklin Park zoo has to be one of my favorite zoos to visit. There is plenty to see here to keep you busy for hours including lions, birds, zebras and more. The zoo is rather large but the scenery within the the zoo is wonderful as it is very well kept. Admission is pretty reasonable as well which is always a plus. When you are done checking out the animals, there is also a very nice playground for the kids to enjoy as well as an area to buy food and drinks. Although not in the best area of town, once you enter the zoo you almost seem to forget where you are.

I am big fan of animals, and they certainly represent most of them at Franklin Park Zoo. The zoo itself is a nice place to walk around. I really like the setup of this particular zoo, and it is very well kept. I've been to many zoos in the area, and Franklin Park is definitely my favorite. I think the best thing is that it is right outside the city and so easy to get to so you can go any time!

I wasn't too impressed with this zoo which was a real disappointment b/c I was really looking forward to taking my son for the first time. We went on a nice day in August, but there didn't seem to be any animals out. Most were hiding or not there at all! The petting zoo and butterfly house were alot of fun but I don't think I'd visit again. I've heard the Stone Zoo (the partner to Franklin Park) is more impressive, so perhaps that's worth a drive!

Now this is a zoo! I saw animals here that I had never even heard of before! I like the fact that some of the animals like the lions, for instance, have a large fenced off area in which to roam. This is a big place, takes a while to see everything. I found it to be very clean and well kept. I know in the past its had its reputation for being in a bad part of Dorchester. I had no problem at all. They have nice food area and tables to sit at. This is worth a little ride from home to visit at! They have petting zoo for the tiny tots......which I didnt actually go into as we didnt have very young children with us.....but it looked nice!

doesn't all the schools go here too..The price is right for admission but yet the concessions are very expensive..We were here just a few weeks ago, the restrooms were nasty, looks like they didn't clean them for months and even some of the animals didn't look well..There are other zoos in the area that are worth going to before coming here...

Not the best in the area

The Franklin Park Zoo, located in Dorchester, is a good place to take the kids, but is not the best zoo around. This zoo has the usual...zebras, lions, etc, but one of the most interesting things is the butterfly area. Here, the butterflies roam around free (it's covered). The zoo also has several concession stands with the usual fare, and a gift shop. If you live in the Boston area, it's a quick drive, although public transportation can be tricky.

I love this zoo. It has almost every animal imaginable. Most of the animals were there in their natural habitat and it was so neat to see them like that. The exhibits are educational. The zoo has a very organized layout. The prices are reasonable. The only downfall is that it is tough to get to. You cant just drive there. You have to take a bus.

This zoo is pretty nice but a little tricky to get to (take a train and then take a bus). One thing that impressed me is that they have red kangaroos! (something my state zoo did not have). Also they have a really nice and spacious indoor aviary where birds freely roam.
PROS: lots of animals
CONS: tricky to get to, some cages seem small

Zoo 10 minutes from Boston

The Franklin Park Zoo is a great way to escape the city life for a day. The zoo is only ten minutes south of Boston and admission is only $8.50. Bring your walking shoes, as animals are spread throughout the park. Also bring extra cash for drinks and food...which are pricey at $2.50 for a bottle of soda. The Franklin Park Zoo has a great gift shop, and a wide variety of animals such as lions, gorillas, and kangaroos. Sorry, no tigers or elephants. Only use the bathrooms if you have to, they are on the dirtier side.
PROS: Lots to see, The butterfly attraction is great
CONS: dirty bathrooms, and pricy concessions

The Franklin Park Zoo is a great place to go on a family outing especially with little kids or anyone who enjoys animals. I love seeing wild animals and especailly ones that are not found around this area and that you are able to see in such a close setting. I would definately reccomend the Franklin Park Zoo to anyone who likes animals they have a Giraffe savannah a tropical forrest and a australian outback tour and much more they are great and are 9.50 for adults five dollars for children and children under two are allowed in free. It is a great place and at the same time it is very educational. I would definately reccomend Franklin Park Zoo it is great.

You gotta love the Franklin Park Zoo. Honestly, they have all the animals! Seriously, though, the exhibits are fun and the staff is friendly. Admission isn't to bad, and if it's a nice day, you can't beat a day at the zoo with the family or friends! Take the trip to Dorchester and have a nice time!
