If you have not been there, chances are you know someone who has, and they can't wait to go back. This hidden gem, located in the lobby area of the Westin Hotel Copley Square, serves up the finest sushi and Japanese cuisine in town, maybe any town this side of Tokyo. With both a local fascination and an international repeat clientele, this 41- seat, quaint and timeless restaurant is a popular staple that keeps on reinventing itself. The philosophy is simple: Osushi's commitment to authentic Japanese cuisine is its secret. You will NOT find "fusion" sushi here, but the menu offers unmatched creativity, and guests will admire the "raw" sophistication of the pallet of a culture which has enjoyed the art of sushi for millennia. If you've not been to Osushi, you've simply got to go!
Had a lot of fun here last night. Service was spectacular. They started us off with a delecious plum wine on the rocks special and it was de-lish.We ordered a variety of standard and signature rolls which were just amazing. I have to say the signature rolls are the way to go if you're tired of the same old sushi rolls and wanted to try something different go with the Maiya on Fire. They all had unique flavors that tasted delicious and the presentation was very nice.
Pros: best sushi in beantown
Cons: loud but I liked it
Stayed at the Westin Hotel in the Copley area and was just delighted from this small but great sushi stop. My husband and I are from Southern Cal so we've had our share of sushi. My experience at his restaurant was excellent. Wait staff was great, food was fantastic...and let's not even mention the Mango Saketini. We ended up eating there 3 times out of our week visit. Will definitely be back.
After a long day at work, I headed to Osushi with some coworkers. It was towards the end of the night, and although the servers were clearly looking forward to going home, nothing was sacrificed. Our glasses of beer were consistantly refilled by the server, and both the appetizers and entrees came along with perfect speed. The popcorn shrimp tempura was delicious, and the makimono was very filling. Essentially, this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The service was great, not too pushy, but we were never left wanting. After that experience, we will definitely be back in the future!
The quality of food at this sushi restaurant was amazing! Then again....how can this place be around for so long if they ONLY serve sushi if the fish is not FRESH! I read all the reviews and find some people's comments hysterical. The servers are EXTREMELY friendly and the place makes me feel at home. What else can I say....that's why i keep going back!
This sushi restaurant is exceptional. I am a sushi lover and connoisseur, and I;ve not found better in Boston. Comparable to the finest sushi restaurantsin the world. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is hip and suitable for a romantic date, fun night out or just a quick bite. Simply sensational!
There are many good sushi restaurants in Boston, but none have compared to Osushi Restaurant in the Westin hotel. I just tried Osushi for the first time and all I can say is OTORO! Delecious Tuna Belly Sushi, Crystal rainbow maki, Lobster Tempura, all cut expertly by Chefs that are obviously very experienced. The food was so detailed and that was matched by servers who really payed attention to detail. I have never been in a sushi restaurant in Boston where service and food knowledge were so apparent. Even the manager came over and personelly graded fresh wasasbi on my plate. This is a restaurant I will reccommend to all sushi lovers!
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
Cons: Parking was tough
Though new to sushi, I've had several great experiences at OSushi and always look forward to lunching there. While the service may be a bit slower than some, I've never found it excessively so, and frankly enjoy the chance to relax. Servers have gone out of their way to guide me thru the "process." The Sake list is extensive. The combos with tempura are lovely.
Pros: Flavor & presentation, Ambience, though busy, Attentiveness
Cons: Small & busy
osushi is a great place to if you are seeking a young and fast atmosphere but beyond that there isnt much to offer. the food was not that great considering the price that they were charging. the waitress was slow and inattentive, taking forever to bring our food 5 feet from the countertop to our table and not refilling out tea and water despite several request. if you have a lot of time and dont mind eyeballing your food for 20 minutes before it arrives at your table then it's an ok place to go to
Cons: waitstaff
i read some of the reviews on citysearch and thought that this place would offer up good sushi. i was thoroughly disappointed when i went to give it a try. not only did they have a limited menu, their fish was not fresh as well. i ordered the toro, and although it was tuna that i was given, it was definitely not toro. the waitress was also a bit on the snotty side.
I recently moved from California, the meca of sushi in America and was craving some comparable sushi. I heard from a japanese friend that this place was the best around. I was expecting a decent meal but what i found was irresistable. The food was extremely fresh and delicately prepared. The servers were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the ambience was very hip. I've become hooked on Osushi, especially the tuna tartar and the o toro. I'm not one for writing restaurant reviews but I was extremely surprised to read the negative reviews and felt i had to defend this delicious retaurant. Enjoy!!!!!!!!
Pros: Food, Service, Music
Cons: not a one
Twice eaten and twice so bad. Sushi lacks freshness and I had two pieces last time that were actually bitter. Waitress pushes the most expensive items. Plates delivered with no thought from chefs, just plop sushi on a plate.
Pros: In Hotel
Cons: Food, Service, Prices
Altogether disappointing. We read the great reviews and gave it a shot. Our sushi tasted like the refrigerator it had been sitting in for a week. Our waitress asked why we had eaten so little, I told her it wasn't fresh, she handed me the check with a trite apology. Cooked items were good, though not outstanding, and service was poor.
Pros: nice atmosphere, good music
Cons: stale sushi, bad service
The best thing about O'Sushi is the trendy decor. Apart from that, it is very mediocre. The miso soup was bland and the sushi average at best. The tuna was a bit oily and fishy tasting. The waitress was doing us a favor by waiting on us. There are so many better places in Boston.
Pros: Location, Decor
Cons: Service, Food
We came to Boston for a weekend and gave osushi a shot after reading rave reviews on CitySearch and in magazines. Cooked items and appetizers are good, but the sushi, very seriously, borders on disgusting. When I told our exceptionally perky waitress that my sushi wasn't fresh and that I couldn't finish it, she offered a perfunctory apology and handed me the check with a big smile in the same sentence. If this is the best sushi in Boston, I'll stick to the baked beans and NE clam chowder next time I'm in town.
Pros: nice space
Cons: bad service, stale sushi
This was my first experience in osushi and i had a wonderful time. The food and the service was excellent, the server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide me through the menu. The rolls and the sushi was one of the best dinners i have ever had. i suggest everyone to go in.
This place is great, sushi and sashimi is fresh as could be and good size too. Atmoshere is the best out of any sushi place in boston (none of the cheesy bamboo everywhere) and it is really clean. The music is a plus as well. I come here quite frequently and the chefs are very nice and always seem to have specials to add to the menu (I recently had Kobe beef sushi, and Otoro sashimi, which was unworldly) and the service was great as well. Sake selection is huge so ask for recommendations, saketinis are cool too.
Pros: food, drinks, atmosphere, service
as a newcomer to the sushi world...i feel there is no better place! The quality of the fish is top notch and when matched with the perfect sake-tini...well an evening could not get any better!
this place is consistently fantastic everytime I go there! Fresh food...fun atmosphere...and friendly people!
Service was great, but the food was just average. The mizo soup was too salty, the salad dressing was too strong. Sushi was fine, but nothing extrodinary. The price is at least 50% more than regular Japanese restaurant. So, it's not worthy.
Pros: Good decor, Great Service
Cons: , expensive
I am quite surprise that some put average-this restaurant as transfixed the profound meaning of fine dinning. The temperature, lightening, food, music, location and their waiters were absolutely magnificent. A great place for first date and the atmosphere will lead you to ecstasy, I guarantee it. In short, Osushi is altogether orgasmic.
Pros: Loved it, loved it, loved it
Boring selection and overpriced. The service was good but I would not go back unless I was in the mall and DESPERATE for instant sushi. I've had better at Shino! They tried with the atmosphere but you're unmistakably in a mall. Good music though.
Pros: Service, Music
Cons: Selection, Price, Location
If you haven't been to OSUSHI, you haven't had sushi at all. Just when I was about to give up hope for a chic sushi spot in Beantown that offers exceptional food and a hip atmosphere, OSUSHI came to the rescue. When you try it, you'll know what i mean.
Pros: Food, Atmsophere, Service
Good sushi - not the best Boston offers, but nice to have an attrative/clean sushi place in the BB-South End area. Service is Osushi's greatest downfall. Wait staff is confused, service is slow and take out experience was a disaster-they got the order all wrong. Looks like management needs to be kicked up a notch or needs more experience. Great sake list-but staff needs to be better educated on its offerings.Need to bring beer prices down-$6 for an Amstel is a bit much!
Pros: food, ambience
Cons: service, service, service
Nice place to take a date. Romantic, not too quiet, not too loud. The food was above average. For veggies the garden combo is a good choice. Tasty and a good amount but nothing you probablably can't get at other places.
Pros: Romantic, Unique, Ambience
Cons: Service
I've been to many sushi restaurants, and I have got to say this has been the worst yet. I had a sashimi platter. The fish was not fresh at all, and was very "fishy". My friend with me agreed that it was the fish was not fresh. The salmon, was cut in a weird manner, with the dark grey part showing, and it was chewy! definately the worst sashimi ever..and for the high price..I do not recommend at all.
The sushi is top quality, delicious, and artfully presented. The service is attentive, and the extensive Sake list is impressive. The ambience is intimate; perfect for a date.
Pros: great value, great service, excellent decor
I REALLY RECOMEND THIS RESTAURANT!! I GO TO THERE 1CE IN A WEEK, BCZ EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!! I LOVE WINE, SAKE,BEER. THEY HAVE GREAT ALCHOL MENU, THE CHOIE IS WONDERFULL FOR SUSHI!! I AM JAPANESE FROM TOKYO, I'VE NEVER EATEN REAL SUSHI IN OTHER RESTAURANT IN BOSTON!!!
The sushi was fresh and fabulous. But the prices were a little bit higher than one might expect for sushi. Granted, sushi is meant to be expensive, but Osushi is one of the higher priced sushi restaurants. Small selection, but fresh, delicious fish!
Pros: fresh sushi, good food
Cons: expensive, small restaurant
Don't be hesitant because its in a mall/hotel. Hit up Bar 10 or the 'fishery' downstairs for drinks first and then go for sushi.
Take a chance on the Sake, I was a first timer and enjoyed it with sushi better than a beer or wine. Staff was great.
I'd stay away from the Chef Specialty (Chef does a mix of sashimi and sushi based on your request) but the amount is minimal. Get the toro, half cooked/raw, great! You can get two Sushi/Sashi Deluxes for the same price as the Specialty.
A really, really great place. Makes you feel like you are dining outside of Boston as the decor is very trendy. The place was loud with music yet surprisingly romantic... Enjoy!
Pros: Food, Service, Unique
Cons: Locale, not quiet
Our waitress was sweet but veryslow even though the restaurant was fairly empty. The sushi was ok - but expensive considering you could get the same thing anywhere for a little less. it wasn't terrible but i won't go back. though theydo serve soda in the glas bottles which i really liked.
Cons: Expensive, Slow
I finally found a place close to me that is not just hip and romantic also has great Sushi. I would recommend making reservations, I believe this place will be hot soon. Only thing is their sushi prices aren't that bad for quality fish however their beer and alcohole is crazy...$7 for Heineken, be careful. Do your drinking else where!
Pros: Nice atmosphere, Good sushi
Cons: Drink prices, Drink prices, Drink prices
Sake Sake Sake! Simply the best sushi I have had and a sake selection like no one I have ever seen. Go for the sushi, stay for the sake!
Pros: Sake-liscious, Happening, Sexy
Excellent management & staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Wide range of dishes. Experienced to relatively new sushi diners will enjoy everything the OSUSHI has to offer.
Osushi is a great new restaurant. I am not a big sushi eater and have always tried to stay away from it, but Osushi provides rolls for everyone. Whether you want the most raw fish you can find, or want something cooked (i.e. the shrimp tempura roll, which I would highly recommend), they've got it all. Go for great food, at a great price, in a great atmosphere.
Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere
Osushi was a quaint and romantic restaurant. The service was excellent, most likely because the owner was waiting on us! The food was fresh, while the selection of sake was overwhelming the staff was there to assist! I recommend reservations since the restaurant is very small and there isn't a waiting area unless you want to wait in the mall.
Pros: service, food
osushi holds true to its creed, "simple.stylish.sexy.sushi!" The freshness of the fish and the comfort of the atmosphere really make this restaurant enjoyable.
