As a customer of both the Kagawa and Fuji restaurants in Quincy, I find them both to be acceptable in terms of food quality. There are differences between the 2, most notably for dcor and atmosphere. I do find it disturbing that some would choose to shamelessly flame the Kagawa and then state that the Fuji is so much better. I can assure you that this is not accurate. When assessing the accurateness of the 2 reviews here, consider that there are 2 Fuji restaurants in Quincy, one in the Wallaston section (the original) and one in Quincy center. The original is pretty deficient in atmosphere and dcor while the Quincy center location would be more to ones liking if you are into TV monitors in the bathrooms and like flashy accoutrements. While the 2 restaurants are not owned by the same person or families, (as the original owners of the Fuji then opened another restaurant using the street number after Fuji to create a ??new? name?) I personally find the food quality much better at the Wallaston site.

We have been to Kagawa many times in the last few months.....the sushi here is the best on the South Shore....granted, there isn't much good sushi on the South Shore. Teh hand-rolled Spider (Soft shell crab) is incredible. Service is friendly and prompt. The place is spotless. May not be as hip as some of the places in town but there's plenty of parking and the food is awesome!

Kagawa restaurant is an impeccably clean, friendly & quiet atmosphere. Top service polite and accommodating wait staff. Delightfully fresh food some elegantly spiced. I have gone to Kagowa for years and I'm NEVER disappointed! The sushi is fresh, made well and they will even make it to your specifications. I highly recommend Kagawa to anyone who loves Japanese sushi and a nice atmosphere, they even have private rooms where you may be served in traditional Japanese style while sitting on the floor. May I suggest the Kagawa Marki a delight blend of different tastes, bound to entice your pallet also the vegetable tempura light and cooked to perfection.
(Just for the fun of it we went to Fuji the other night, with some other friends who suggested we try something new. Well to say the least I was not impressed with the food, loud atmosphere or cafeteria style setting as well as the inexperienced inattentive young female wait staff. The food was good though I would not go back a second time)
Kagawa in my estimation is a better bet all around.
Kagawa also has take out and delivery
Kagawa gets my 5 star rating for sushi on the So. Shore

Pros: Parking in rear, Great fresh sushi, nice ambience and lighting, fantastic service, impeccably clean

Cons: rear enterance needs to be spruced up a little sanded and salted better in the winter

I have been eating @ Kagawa for years. Don't be fooled by their neighbor's flashy sign, or the shameless aforementioned Fuji plug. If you like fresh sushi look no further than Quincy's original sushi spot, Kagawa.

I've been to Kagawa twice. I have to admit the sushi is very fresh compare to some of the sushi restaurants in Boston. However, out of those two times at Kagawa, they charged me about $10 more in my debit card as tips when I already left them cash on the table. The first time they charged me literally $10 more and returned the money a week later. The second time I did not see any refunds. I think this is a very unorganized and it's very unfair to me as a customer who's paying all these extra money because of their mistakes. I will not go back to this restaurant despite of the fresh sushi. I think there will be other places in Boston with the equavilant qualities but a much more professional. I guess my only advice is that bring cash! Lots of cash because this place is expensive.

Best sushi in Boston. I try so many Japanese restaurant, this is the best one. I am the regular customer there. The favorite sushi is Kagawa house maki, it taste so good, you will not forget it. Friendly service as always, although sometimes they are busy, worth for a wait. Parking is hard.

I dont' know what the other reviewers are talking about. The sushi here is the freshest you'll find both in Quincy and in Boston and at a better price. The service is above par. You're seated quickly, brought your beverage, alcoholic or virgin and giving the best knowlegable advice on ordering sushi and/or saki. For great fresh food, service and atmosphere, Kagawa is the way to go. I've eaten lots of sushi in Boston, Quincy and other states and Kagawa is right there with the best of them.

Most assuredly one of the most foul and worst restaurants around....and I have been around the world.

It is a low budget Chinese movie masquerading as a Japanese restaurant. Thick and pasty soy duck sauces on tough meat, sushi is chunks of nasty fish with scales in them, chicken teriyaki with a baked potato, cheap non-glutenous rice, great watery iceberg lettuce salad - don't skimp on the carrot shavings for color - with a thick peanut butter like blob for dressing, thin miso soup, and other assorted nastiness too gross to mention.

Please don't call this a Japanese restaurant, and potential customers, don't waste your time...see if they can make you some refried rice at 4 am--- that is what it is good for.

I left a whole $50 plate of sushi and the waitress did not even ask what was wrong --- she knew.

Pass on by and go to Fuji-- at least someone there has eaten Japanese food and know what they are talking about

This is easily the worst restaurant in all of Quincy. My wife and I had food delivered from Kagawa the other night. It was so bad that after a couple of bites we had no choice but to throw all of it away. We each ordered different meals but they were both equally horrible. I would be willing to bet that unseasoned raw chicken would have been much more desirable then what ever it was that showed up at our door step. We eat out a lot and are generally happy with most places that we go to but the Kagawa was as bad as it gets. Do yourself a favor, go to Fuji which is right next door and a very good restaurant.

Last time I was there the waitress left us for at least 20 min. without checking on us. We were very disapointed.

Always curteous and quick...if you need delivery and want it with a smile...this is the place for you! They even gave me a Christmas gift with my sushi last December!

Food is average but they make up for it with service

It was a very good atmosphere when walking it. I was greeted right away and seated very quickly. The waitress didn't give me much time to look at the menu so I had to ask her for more time twice, since she would come back 30 seconds later. After ordering the food took a while to come out but the taste made up for the wait. We ordered sushi off the list but never recieved it. We didn't care since we were glad that we weren't charged for it. All in all we loved our time there.

I'm not usually a happy diner and find lots of things to bitch about while dropping $80 or so for diner. But this place stumped me! Kimonos... perfect fare... friendly faces... extra napkins. I know it's Japanese Sushi and Sashimi but they do have some somewhat mainstream dishes. And no... I don't own the place or work there.
