A fantastic place!

by Lynn and Ben V.

A few years back our experience in Nantucket wasn't so good so we were a little skeptical about returning. We chose to stay at The Century House because our friends highly recommended it. It was for our anniversary so we made vacation out of it. The innkeeper surprised us with some champagne in the room upon our arrival. What a nice gesture and how welcoming! The breakfast has a lot of very healthy choices such as fresh fruit, organic yogurt. The room was great, very spacious and cleaned daily. The staff went out of the way to tell us of some of their favorite spots. We were very impressed with this inn and will recommend it to others.

Amazing place to stay!

by lyndsay g.

This hotel inn is great in every way. Clean, comfortable, beautiful rooms (our was Red Dahlia), perfect location and an amazing breakfast! Our vacation to Nantucket was close to perfect. The weather was gorgeous, except it rained one day; but even so, we didnt mind, the innkeeper suggested that we see the Whaling Museum. We were there for five days and had an incredible relaxing time: rode bikes, rented scooters for one day, checked-out most beaches, walked around downtown and had some delicious meals. Nantucket is our favorite place to be and now Century House. We look forward to coming back this summer again.

fun with family

by s t.

We didn't want to stay at a hotel so we picked a family friendly bed and breakfast. This was perfect for us. Towards the end of our vacation nobody wanted to leave. The best part was the smell of freshly baked cookies, eating the free cookies every day after being at the beach all day, and seeing old movies from their collection. It's also close to everything, including the beach. The inn is spotless and the decor is just beautiful. We'll plan to return to Nantucket again and we'll definitely stay here.

Surprised my wife

by Charlie K.

I chose the bed and breakfast because of the reviews I have been reading. I wanted to surprise my wife with a vacation to Nantucket since she's been wanting to vacation on the island for a while. This year we were able to make it. I mainly booked because the staff was very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable about the island. Well, our expectations were high when we arrived and I can say they were all met. We're history buffs, so we prefer historic b and b's instead of hotels. We had the Partridge Berry room, with a king size comfortable bed. Our first choice Black Orchid with the private porch was not available. Instead we spent a lot of time out on the patio area. One night we were fogged in so we decided to stay in and watch movies from their movie collection. I felt like a teenager again.
All in all this was a great trip for us. And I made my wife happy. We will be back more often.

Excellent stay...

by Dina B.

We were here for the first weekend they opened. What a wonderful bed and breakfast! We especially were impressed with the breakfast spread; most enjoyed the fresh berries and the special recipe granola and organic milk. The inn has a luxury feel to it, a quiet atmosphere and a superb dcor, a mix of old and new. The location is great as well. We walked to downtown for some shopping and great food. Thanks to the innkeeper Gerry we had a delicious dinner. Anytime we asked any questions we were assisted immediately. Will love to return soon again.

Charming inn, couldn't be better!

by Anonymous

As our first timers visiting Nantucket Island, we had no idea what to expect. After reading reviews of the island being crowded during the high season, we had mixed feelings about coming . But we decided to give this bed and breakfast a try anyway and were not disappointed. This inn is AMAZING, very quiet and charming. It's been majorly renovated. The location made the difference I think. It's tucked away from the main area of town, yet close to the beach and walkable to downtown. Also the wraparoud porch was attractive to us because we wanted to be outside as much as possible. They also had a garden with lounge chairs for those of us who love to be out in the sun.
We looked forward to the breakfast every morning, mingling with other guests who were like us, just wanting a nice quiet bb where we could get away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our entire stay was very peaceful and stress-free. Without a doubt this will be the place we will return to again and again.

Looking forward to another stay here...

by kat v.

My husband and I look forward to another stay at The Century House. We can't wait to return to this lovely inn. We travel a lot now that we are retired. Yet all I talk about is Nantucket. We couldn't make it last year but I am so happy we finalized our plans.
We prefer bed and breakfasts to hotels. And we recommend this place because our experience here was better than we expected. Although it was very expensive in comparison to other vacations we take, it was worth it. The inn seems to reflect more of what Nantucket truly is: very intimate, relaxing, friendly, secluded, comfortable, and homey. They also served fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every afternoon which we looked forward to every day.
The inn is quite large and quiet. Our room, the Partridge Berry, although on the first floor, was nicely decorated and had a luxury feel to it. The king bed was comfortable. The inn also has a porch where we ate our breakfast and relaxed in the afternoons. My husband loves to read and one day I found him in the garden area sitting by himself, basking in the sun. The book he was reading was from the collection of books that the inn has.
We also loved walking downtown, through different streets so we could look at the houses and the beautiful flowers. We also walked to the beach. The location was perfect. The staff was always helpful. And the breakfast was such a treat!!!

Perfect in every way

by Anonymous

We finally made it to this island...perfect weather during our October getaway, a six day bliss. We stayed here (Century House), a luxury bed and breakfast on Cliff Road, a beautiful historic building from the 1800; cobblestone streets surrounded with great views. What a pleasant, breathtaking fall destination!!! The rooms are decorated with paintings of Nantucket, antique furniture and plenty of books. We even met some of the artists painting there.

The location is great for walking or simply sitting on the porch to relax. On foggy days we loved the homemade baked chocolate chip cookies. Fantastic staff and an awesome breakfast! I highly recommended this place.

Staying here is like home away from home

by Budd B.

When I stay at the Century House every August I feel at home. This is like coming to my home away from home. I've known the innkeepers for a very long time. I guess I am now a fixture at the Century House. I come because this is my time to be away. I always stay in the Sweet Pea Room for about seven days or so. It is quiet, comfortable, and pleasant. I walk to the beach or downtown.
This is the best place to experience Nantucket because the inn offers an ambiance that is very much Nantucket-like. I love sitting on the veranda or the garden reading a book. The breakfast is excellent...berry buffet style, very healthy. Also, I look forward to having some homemade cookies every afternoon. I have visited every year for the past 14 years. I will never stay in another place
