Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe

Charlie's offers one of the best breakfasts in Boston! My only complaint is that it is lacking a bathroom and they need longer hours! The wait is too long on the weekends!!

This is such a local institution you have to try it at least once. Rumor has it that they have been around so long they've been grandfathered in to not being required to have a bathroom. Saturday mornings you will likely see a line down the block with all of those wishing they had more time during the week to go. Make sure you strike up a conversation with the guy at the door. He's been there quite a long time and loves some good conversation in the morning. There has never been a bad breakfast at Charlie's. The raspberry pancakes are absolutely amazing and their homefries are pretty great as well. The waitress is one of a kind, very professional. You sit family style and may be seated around a table with others who have already started. Sitting at the lunch counter is a must at least one time so you can watch them prepare everything right in front of you. This is a great mom and pop restaurant that even closes down when the owners go on vacation. Unfortunately the hours are a little tough - only open until about 2 PM Monday - Saturday and is not open on Sunday.
