We went to Catch last night for restaurant week. The portions are small as described by other reviewers but I guess they try to make up for that by claiming higher quality and fresh ingredients. This is definitely not the place for any of you that prefer to go home with a doggy bag so beware of that. Overall the food quality was okay but it didn't make me want to go back. It wasnt the best seafood Ive ever had. I made a better grilled salmon and cauliflower chive puree at home this week. I had the striped seabass and enjoyed it but it just wasnt memorable. My husband had the handmade linguini and shellfish. He only got 3 very small mussels and 3 small clams. He said it was okay, but not spectacular. My husband's chocolate semifredo dessert was great. The almond torte was dry and really flavorless. It was accompanied by fresh berries and a tiny scoop of ice cream which I would have rathered just that then the crusty piece of torte. Waste of space on the dish. Our server was nice however she was like a robot. She didnt go over the menu with us at all. Obviously most restaurants like to get repeat business. You could tell these wait staff need more training on how to communicate with customers. The wait staff should want customers to enjoy their dining experience and get them to come back. Our server would also disappear for a while and we felt like the forgotten table. We arrived at a busy time for our 7:15 reservation. I cannot tolerate it when you are seated on time and then other diners come in 15 to 20 minutes after you and they leave the restaurant before you. It seemed like she was giving more attention to tables with the grey hair and big jewelry. Bare in mind we ordered a $50 bottle of wine too so our entire bill was about $150 with tip for 2. I couldnt justify giving her a 20% tip based on the slow, inconsistent service. Treat all your tables the same! Everyone there was paying the same price for their pre-fixe meal. Everyone deserves the same service. I hope the owners read these reviews and take some action. I cant recommend this place to my friends unfortunately. The food I would have to say outshined the service and thats not saying much. To be successful in this industry, both need to be exceptional. Im not sure how they got Best of Boston for seafood so many years in a rowMind boggling
