The Scene
Located on a quiet side street near the Arsenal Mall, Strip-T's tiny, unassuming storefront won't turn any heads, but its affordable, homemade cuisine will. Though the simple, warm-toned dining room contains about a dozen tables, the restaurant's enough of a secret that there's rarely a wait. Friendly servers update the chalkboard of daily specials and add to the welcoming environment, as does a bargain-basement list of quality, easy-to-drink wines.

The Food
Strip-T's kitchen, which handles a strong catering business, cooks all that it can from scratch (onion rings this thin and crisp couldn't come from a wholesale distributor). Satisfying entrees include smoky marinated-chicken kabobs and grilled ginger-scallion salmon. Dishes are served with a flavorful Caesar salad and a choice of crunchy fries, saffron rice or cheddar mashed potatoes. Homemade cookies are a perfect capper--the chewy chocolate chippers are to die for.

Key Points

  • Take out and office catering
  • Fresh Seafood
  • Daily Specials

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - Grab a tasty coffee drink for the ride home from Buzz, a delightful neighborhood coffeehouse that shares space (and ownership) with the restaurant.
  2. Know Before You Go - Although Fridays are billed as "Customer Abuse Day," the staff is usually no less good-natured than on any other night.

Awesome take out!

by cath b. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,019

Strip T's has seriously good food. My favorite is their turkey burger with goat cheese and caramelized onions. I've never sat down to eat there, but I know they have tables. This is a must try!

Worth the wait at lunch!

by Brande O. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,429

At lunch, be prepared to line up four deep at the counter to place your order from a wide variety of sandwiches and salads at lunch that are fresh, filling and delicious. The Grilled Chicken Salad is one you'll never beat anywhere else. Be sure to banter with the staff and gaze at art on the walls by local artists and come back for dinner where table service is available.

great food; great price

by gagnedb

I have lived in Watertown for 2 years and have seen this place several times and thought it was just a coffee shop. Last year, a friend started working there and told me I had to try it out. It took me until this week to finally go. I was not disappointed. We got the turkey burger with goat cheese and vidalia onions and the Tilapia with fries. My friend and I shared both entrees and we were both very pleased. The food was fresh, flavoral and totally affordable. I also must add that we were able to buy a bottle of wine for $12! I didn't think that was even possible outside a liquor store. I can't wait to go back.

Pros: big portions

Cons: they close at 9 so no late night dining

I'd take my clothes off for a thai chicken roll up!!

by Foodjunkie

I have been a regular customer at Strip-t's for about eighteen years. I do not think I have ever been dissapointed. The food is always fresh, and I believe everything is home made. They have a great special board that changes twice a day for dinner and for lunch.
everything from blackened scollops over ceaser to great steak tip sandwiches. Also, very family friendly with options such as great FF and rings, and chix fingers. Go and try......you wont be dissapointed!

Pros: great value in upscale casual fare

Cons: not open on Sundays

Home cooking in the Neighborhood

by markswoyer

Fresh food, wonderfully prepared. Friendly staff. Better than home cooking.

We moved into the neighborhood in '79... don't know how we made it to 1987 when Strip-t's opened. For as long as they stay, we can't move.

Pros: Predictably wonderful

Cons: can't think of any

Not Recommended

by dhill118

I went here for lunch and was very disappointed. I had the mozzarella, basil and tomato sub. The tomatoes were not fresh and had soaked the roll. The whole thing was inedible. I will not go there again. In addition, on the phone when I was placing the order I tried to ask the woman how long it would take and she hung up on me. The actual restaurant was really warm inside too, I can't imagine actually dining in there comfortably.

Strip T's is the best value in Boston. Seriously great food - all fresh ingredients and absolutely no pretention whatsoever. I highly recommend it whether you are looking for a wasabi-crusted tuno steak or a great salad or sandwich.
