I have read nothing but great reviews about this restaurant. The food is amazing, the staff is great and the ambiance is second to none. If i am ever in the area this will be on my list.

A five star restaurant all the way. We chose more common dishes. There were many unusual choices that all looked excellent as they passed by. The filet mignon was wonderful and the roasted organic salmon was spectacular (says husband). The Philly cheesesteak spring rolls as an appetizer are very good. Service is outstanding, dress is dressy! Very classy restaurant. If you dine here while the Yankees are in town, you very well may see Derek Jeter...probably not with A-Rod, and that's fine with me!

Dinner for 4, tip included came to $500. Although the food was delicious, I can't imagine dining there too many times a year. Our dinner included a $70 bottle of wine, 3 appetizers, 4 dinners (1 Bolognese, 2 Veal Chops, 1 Filet Mignon) and 2 Deserts, 2 Capacchino, 2 glasses of Port Wine). One other time I went for Lunch and it was $50 per person (salad, pasta, desert and capacchino). Very delicious and good service. Only problem is the bill at the end of the meal.

My first trip to Boston was quite challenging as I attempted to navigate the Boston ""attitude."" I went to a restaurant close to Davio's (will remain nameless) and had a bad experience with the host who appeared to not want to seat me and my co-worker. We walked over to Dovico's and was greeted very warmly. The service was top notch, wine was great, water glass never went empty, and the food was superb. I ordered the scallops and my co-worker ordered a steak. His steak was cooked perfectly and my scallops were as well. The dessert was AWESOME! If I ever visit Boston again, it will be my FIRST stop!!!

I have recently moved to Boston from New York and live right around the corner from Davio's s, and have always wanted to go to dinner there.

The night I went I was with 5 other people so 6 total. We were looking to eat and drink well not just a cocktail and an appetizer.

When we first got there the man who greeted us was extremely friendly and helpful. He had told us it was going to be about 10-15 minutes they had to get our table ready. No problem we went to the bar and had a cocktail. Our table was ready shorter then that amount so we carried our drinks to the table. The table was amazing we sat right by a window and had a semi-private space.

We were greeted by Betty the rudest woman I have ever encountered at a steak house. She rolled her eyes every time we asked her for something. We are talking simple things like a glass of water. She refused to let us order our appetizers and salads at different points then our meal. She firmly told us the kitchen doesn't let her submit orders separately. She also started take the wine glasses off the table. One of the people I was with asked if she could leave them on the table because we were going to order wine in a few. She then snapped back ""to let her do her job"".

The food was very good. Everyone I was with ordered steak and there was not one bad thing said about the food. The only thing I didn't like was the sides. Normally the sides are family style but these were individual.

We didn't stiff Betty but I wouldn't go back there because she was so awful and rude and there are so many other choices out there.

I had read a review in a book about this place and decided to check it out while visiting Boston. We sat at the bar. Bar staff was great. We started with the lobster risotto. We order the small portion to share as an app but honestly I wish I had ordered the large for my dinner. It was divine!! Perfectly al dente. Huge chumchs of lobster..sauce was amazing. After we had two filets and scallops..these were average. I will be talking about that risotto for a long time. Lol

If you live in Boston and are looking to have a great meal you must hit this spot. I continue to go back to Davio's not only for the great food but a great bar scene after work on a Thursday or Friday. My favorite thing on the menu is the Veal Chop, you can't go wrong with it.

We went to Davio's last weekend for my 34th and Dad's 65th Birthdays... We chose Davio's because, well , it was the only place we could get a reservation for 7 people during restaurant week... That should have been a hint.\r
When we arrived, we were seated promptly, at a cramped table for 7 people. We were the only people in the restaurant.\r
We ordered 2 orders of fried oysters, foie gras and tuna carpaccio for starters. The Tuna was well prepared, the oysters however where coated in an overly thick cornmeal batter and fried beyond repair, the usual luscious texture was completely irradicated. The Foie Gras was black, and we sent in back. The second round of Foie Gras was much better, although still not pink..\r
For ""intermezzo"" we ordered Lobster Risotto and fried Chicken Livers.. Again, the livers were way overdone and tasted ""livery"", not smooth and creamy like correctly cooked liver.. The Lobster Risotto may have as well been Uncle Ben's White Rice. No seasoning, no flavor, no risotto.\r
Entrees- I ordered the Veal Porterhouse, My wife had the Prime NY Sirloin, My Dad had the Pork Chop and the other's had various other dishes, that I will not over comment on, because they were decent, at best..\r
VEAL- The ""char-grill"" they use imparts so much ""smoky"" flavor, it was inedible.. I sent it back and got a lobster dish that was actually very good\r
NY Sirloin- Overcooked, sent back, came back RAW\r
Pork- Same Deal\r
My 7 year old neice ordered pasta with butter, and got it, plus about 1/4 cup of black pepper..\r
The manager never came to the table, I actually had to go find him. He did, however comp the NY, Pork Chop and desserts. With all the issues that we had, he should have been the one to come to us, not us go to him.. \r
All in all, this was a very bad experience, especially because with tip (and the comps), it was still $700.

How can you go wrong with Davio's? You can't! Steve and his staff have done such a great job over the years. If you haven't been here or any of their other locations you should give it a try. The food is consistently amazing and the service is the same.

For an upscale evening, a special occasion or just something different, this is your ticket. The classic Italian Steak House has all of the traditional meats, sides and apps you can think of, but it also offers a nice twist on a few fronts. The Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls are simply out of this world and the Eggplant Parmesan side is also fantastic Don't skip the mac-n-cheese and definitely think about springing for the Kobe Beef steak. 10 oz. of phenomenal food! If you are looking for a nice steak dinner, look no further. If steak isn't your thing, there are plenty of non-meat dishes and a host of Italian entrees as well. In my view, this is better than S&W and Grill 23, although the ambiance is different at all three. For something different, sit at the kitchen bar in Davios, and watch the magic unfold before your eyes.

We eat at Davio's 2-3 times a year and always have a good experience. The dining room is beautiful and there is a certain buzz that adds to the meal. It reminds me of a NYC restaurant; in fact the last time we saw Derek Jeter and a bunch of his Yankee teammates. \r
\r
Our waiters have always been friendly and we trust their suggestions. We typically start with a cocktail and an appetizer or two. My husband usually orders a steak while I tend to gravitate towards healthier fare. The menu is varied with plenty of options so it never feels as though one of us compromised. \r
\r
Although they have a sizable wine list we are not wine drinkers so I cannot comment on the quality. Deserts are another story; they are a real treat and worth the calories!! When the weather is poor, having parking in the building is a big plus. When the weather is better, we tend to spend the afternoon shopping around Copley Place and Newbury Street before making the short walk over.\r

My wife and I bring all of our out-of-town guests to Davio's. Without a doubt the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff in the City. \r
\r
The restaurant is beautiful, the menu is creative with something for every taste, you can park in the building, and it's next to the better hotels and the theater district.\r
\r
Do yourself a favor, skip the traffic and the hype in the North End and give Davio's your business.\r

All in all excellent well prepared food and service. However the steak is slightly below a premium steakhouse and the Italian dishes lack a little panache. Our service started a little rough with being ignored in favor of a very large party but after a word to the manager things improved dramatically. There are few ""buys"" on the wine list - but Boston restaurants regularly jack wine prices way beyond the normal mark-up. One find - the Cain Meritage only 2x retail and excellent!

Went to Davios with a group of 8. When I originally heard we were going to an italian steakhouse I felt they would do one thing well but not the other. This wasn't the case. The Italian style meals were excellent and the steaks were excellent. Very nice place, upscale, steakhouse type atmosphere, great service, great wine list, expensive but you get what you pay for in terms of quality and service. My only negative was that we were a party of 8 and the table was very crowded. I looked around the room to see if we could get a better table when they we were seated and it didn't appear we could do any better. I would definately recommend however if you are a large party, speak with the manager before and make sure your table meets your needs.

I recently went to Davio's with my boyfriend and his parents for his birthday. I made a reservation through OpenTable and we were seated immediately. (Actually, we arrived late, and called the restaurant, who graciously agreed to hold our table for 15 minutes until we made it there. ) The service was solicitous (almost a bit too much) but informative and attentive. Our waiter made excellent suggestions with regard to a nice wine to try, but forgot our sides completely and didn't seem too interested in checking up on us when a larger party arrived shortly after we did. The food itself was well done - high scale without being intimidating. I had the filet, which was excellent; my boyfriend had the r@ck of lamb and loved it; his mother had the jumbo shrimp and his stepdad had the sirloin - both were thrilled. Dessert was basically a warm apple crustado with vanilla ice cream that underwhelmed. For a tab that came to over $300, it was a mixed bag. I'd probably try the new Ruth's Chris Steakhouse before I went back to Davio's, simply for comparison purposes.

We were a party of around 10 people. Everyone ordered a meal except for one person who ordered a salad. The waiter encouraged him to order a dish but he explained that he didn't have a huge appetite. The waiter gave him a very arrogant look and left. All the dishes came except for the salad. My friend, wanting to see just how arrogant the server was, never requested the salad because he wanted to see how long it would take the waiter to realize he was the only one at the table without a plate in front of him. The waiter by but never brought the salad. Meanwhile, the salad mysteriously appeared on the bill. When we explained that the salad had never come the waiter smirked and said that he would make it right away. When we said we no longer wanted the salad since we were ready to leave, he made it anyways with the same arrogant smirk. I can't say that with service like that, I would want to go back.

In spite of the delicious food, dinner was marred by the outrageously expensive wine list. Only 3 bottles of red under $40, 60% of the list over $100. If you don't drink Davios is great, otherwise there are other restaurants with food as good and affordable wine as good.

I had not been to Davio's new location and I was very pleased when I did go. My companion and I began by having a glass of wine and a calamari appetizer at the bar. The bar area was very roomy and a relaxing place to sit. The service was excellent. We proceeded to the dining room to have our main course. The sommalier was a very nice woman who really took a lot of care in selecting the perfect wine to go with our dinner. The food was excellent. I especially loved the roasted chicken dish that I was served. We did get dessert, a chocolate torte and it was wonderful. I would highly recommend Davio's for a relaxing and delicious dining experience.

I like this place. Upscale. slightly uppity. but fun and good food and great wine and cheese. It exudes class, which is very refreshing for Boston! My friends went there and had a semi private room and it was wonderful we ate dinner for 3 and half hours and never felt rushed.

Starting with the pleasant hostess, the service was excellent. We weren't seated right away (they were waiting for some tables to turn), but she handled it very well. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes and the wines, and made some excellent suggestions. The food was very good (I had the veal, my date had the salmon), well prepared, g(good presentation, appropriate portions) but not mind-blowing (given the price). Time and effort went into the preparations; the soup I had was served at the exact right temp., and when I got up for a minute tright after the server brought our entrees, she asked if I wanted them brought back and kept warm while I was gone (I declined) - good attention to detail. The only slight negative was the noise level; the crowd buzz was a little higher than the ideal dull murmer.

Pros: decor, service

Cons: a little noisy

.

I absolutely love the new space, its warm, large and exciting. The food was perfect and our server was very attentive. Keep it up.
