I love this place. I looked and looked for a gym which I thought I would like and finally decided on this one. I have been to a few gyms in the past but always felt out of place and uncomfortable. Everyone, the staff and other members, are so friendly at benefitness. I have been about 3 times and have tried 2 of the classes and they're brillant. I had a meeting with a personal trainer today and she showed me all the equipment and how to use it. I didn't plan on using a lot of the equipment because I didn't know how or what they did but they're actually incredibly easy to use. Also I liked that there was a range of sizes of the women who used the gym and it isn't full of sticky thin people only. I find the locker room a decent size but they're also renevating it this summer. The showers are well kept and I think there is a good water pressure, for me anyways. Overall I think this gym is amazing and Im glad I picked it.
A couple of months ago, I developed a baffling aversion to exercise after so many years of regular exercise. I had no desire to go to the gym, and if I went, Id start warming up and realize it wasnt going to happen and just go home. It was frustrating because I wanted to exercise, but I couldnt get into it! I spoke with one of the trainers I noticed working out everyday. Exercise Burnout is what she said, which made sense because I did the same cardio machine and muscle machines week after week. She suggested doing some training sessions with her to revitalize my exercise routine I loved it. She taught me new, challenging strength exercises using equipment I never considered, and taught me how to use the Adaptive Motion Trainer machine for cardio. This machine was really cool because it doesnt move unless you do the moving, and you can do a step, elliptical, or running workout. Im back in the gym and every so often meet with the trainer to jump start my workout again. No more burn outs for me!
Pros: Helpful Trainers
I understood the way to lose weight was through better nutrition and exercise. I had no problem eating healthy foods (if motivated), but I had always felt clueless about exercise and intimidated by gyms. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing, and I was completely clueless on what I needed to do and how to do it. I joined Benefitness because it was a comfortable, women-only setting of all ages and fitness levels. I received an orientation lesson with signing up, and it was exactly what I needed to get over my fear and help me get started. The trainer explained how exercise works, what I should be doing, how often, and how to do it. I could tell she really cared about helping me learn to care for my body. In just a month, more than helping me to lose weight (from a tight size 16 to a size 14 with breathing room!), exercise is now becoming apart of my lifestyle its my me time.
I have a busy calendar, and dont have a lot of time to devote to exercise, but I know its important for my body and mind so I give it an hour a day, most days of the week. Benefitness really makes this possible because they have a bunch of different exercise classes everyday. I can do muscle class one day, kickboxing class the next, combine my workout with a bootcamp class, or relax with a yoga class. The instructors are engaging (i.e. not boring) and are constantly challenging me. This gym works for me and may I also add my budget.
