Taqueria Mexico Review

by Jade L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,666

This is a Mexican Restaurant. It is a bit small inside and not too much elbow room at tables, but good food. Their prices are good for their portions. Authentic Mexican flavor, a little spicey as well. It's always colorfully decorated with lights and the service and people are great. Would recommend.

great mexican food!

by David K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,718

This is a small restaurant that isn't well know, but their food is authentic, cheap, and tastes great! It is just as good as the famous anna's taqueria but is cheaper. Service was excellent!

I'm coming back again and again.

by capshaw

This is a Mom & Pop Mexican joint. If you want something fancy go someplace else. What you'll find here is a relaxed atmosphere and pretty comforting food. I've only been once but plan to go back again. I'm from Texas and am on a quest for decent Mexican food in the Boston area. It's not been easy. And yes, I'm really looking for Tex-Mex (even though authentic Mexican is great in it's own right). I've found this place to be on the top of my short list. Hey, it's cheap, the mariachi music is loud (recorded, not live), the chips & salsa are free (a standard in any Mexican restaurant in the border regions, but not so in Boston), and the selection of Mexican beers is great. The crowd on a Friday lunch was diverse (anglos, latinos, business people and families). I recommed trying Mexico Taqueria.

Pros: One of the top Mexican Food places in Boston

Cons: No margaritas

Best Mexican Food in the Boston Area

by ral666

Easily the best authentic style Mexican I've had in the Boston area. Anyone who dislikes this place probably thinks Anna's is great (it isn't).

Pros: Great food cheap.

Cons: Some may not like the atmosphere... they should probably stick to nearby Margaritas Restaurant.

Great Mexican Eat Out

by hxn

Having been to quite a few Mexican joints across the country, from El Paso, Texas, and even to Mexico, I think the food is fabulous. The ambience might not be the greatest and the décor is definitely not worth writing about, but the food more than makes up for these short comings. The service is also fast and nice.

Pros: Good Food, Value for money

Cons: , Ambience

Not so good

by proc

This might be a good place to get cheap food if you're in college, but anyone who has moved on from those years will more than likely not miss them after dining at this place. I really don't get what the other reviewers were talking about. The service was friendly, but bad. Seated at a dirty table, which was wiped clean when mentioned. No silverware until after the appetizer arrived, and then we had to ask. We were even charged for a beer that never arrived. The food was VERY basic, and the ingredients, while moderately tasty, had clearly been pre-made hours or days before. The decor looked like an old pizza joint that hadn't been updated for 30 years. Will not be back.

Pros: Cheap, Friendly

Cons: , Looks dumpy

This Is the REAL Thing!

by rldipaolo

I grew up 20 miles from the Mexican border, and I have spent alot of time in Mexico. When I first went to Taqueria Mexico I was amazed the moment I entered. I was back in Mexico. This place isn't fancy, it isn't expensive, but it is EXACTLY like you walked into a neighborhood restaurant somewhere in Mexico. The shrine to the Virgin is there, along with the specials board, velvet paintings, the entire thing is so authentic that it takes a moment to realize they didn't intend to create a replica, but rather the people who run this place ARE Mexican and they're just doing it like they did back home.

Pros: Very Authentic, Delicious, Ample Portions

Taqueria

by clicker

Lately seems to have undergone some changes in the kitchen, but they seem to have things under control. Beats the Iguana for authenticity, quantity, andvalue by a mile. Always has alot of Latinos at lunch and dinner. Tough to beat.Able to seat groups of 20/25. Fruit drinks are great. Serves wine and beer.

Pros: inexpensive, very good, freindly staff

Cons: can be tough to park

The Bomb Baby!

by fodeewater22

Just moved to Boston from California where they have the BEST mexican food. I've searched all over Boston for decent, to say the least, mexican and couldnt find one until I wen to Taqueria Mexico. The place was packed and rightfully so. Totally worth the wait if you don't get a seat right away.

Pros: Inexpensive, Authentic

Cons: Crowded, No Sangria

No frills, but good food

by DDinBoston

The place is not impressive looking, but the food is reasonably priced and excellent. The two salsas that were brought to the table were great. One was VERY HOT and the other one HOT. No sissy salsa here!

Authentic and cheap

by shdailey

Taquieria Mexico has excellent food at great prices. I believe their nachos cost about $2.50 and they're huge! Lots of combination meals are offered, which I love.

The atmosphere is a little seedy but it doesn't take away from the food.
