Whenever I see a deal, I tell people about it.... so it is pretty often that I mention Trader Joe's! Trader Joes is truly my favorite place to shop for most things food and wine-related. They have the best foods for cocktail parties with great prices. I always make stuffed mushrooms with Boursin for family and friends (holidays/gatherings), which elsewhere is literally DOUBLE the price. I don't know how they do it, but Trader Joe's has Boursin at 1/2 the price as every other place I've looked... and that's just the beginning of the savings. I love picking up TJs pita chips, dried fruits, nuts, etc., all perfect for cocktail parties. They also have great meals if you need something quick like pre-made pizzas and frozen fish.

To add to the savings, they have apples for less than 1/2 the price of everywhere else, and a huge savings in wine! This really makes them stand out from the rest. My favorite wines are from Trader Joe's. I like to "splurge" and get the $3.99 Pinot Grigio, which is my favorite kind... although the "two buck chuck" that is $3 is not bad either. Gotta love Trader Joes.

Ahhh, Trader Joe's, how I love thee. This is my one-stop-shop for some weekend snacks and some inexpensive but tasty booze. Notorious for the 2buck-chuck (technically $3+tax in MA), TJ's also carries lots of other inexpensive wines that are worth trying. Love the Cline zinfendel ($8.99), the TJ's brand wine ($4.99), and the Riesling bottle with the sailboat on it ($3.99). They also have $6 sixpacks of beer and cider - we had Newton's Folly Cider, tasted like candy!! They also have cheap dried fruits (apricots, ginger, etc), and $1.99 bags of salad (so cheap! so healthy! sooo good!). The parking lot gets insaaaane on the weekends/at night, but it's also right off the 66 bus in Coolidge Corner. Love love love TJs!!

Pros: Alcohol, food, customer service, parking, bus accessible

Cons: Parking lot is insane

Trader Joe's is THE place to shop for quick, fairly economical organic and whole foods. While its selection may be much smaller than Whole Foods, the store more than makes up for what it lacks in merchandise with an overabundance of personality. Shopping at Trader Joe's is an experience. I have caught myself laughing aloud while reading a product description or wall sign. It is quirky...offbeat....marching to the tune of its own drummer, much like the customers in its target market, perhaps. So if you're looking for endives (and want to know how to cook them), dying to sample some Spanikopita, want a bundle of flowers to spruce up the apartment, in the market for some organic soy milk, and want to pick up some free wooden chopsticks to go with the pad thai mix you just bought -- then head over to Trader Joe's. You won't be disappointed.

PROS: store ambience, friendly checkout people, good value for the money
CONS: produce selection leaves MUCH to be desired, inventory changes daily/weekly

Trader Joes is a great place, if you've never been and don't know already. They seem to have almost all the basic things you'd want, plus so much more. Novelty foods, organic foods, free samples left and right, weird herbal drugs... and also the prices aren't as high as most other stores of the type. Furthermore, this particular Trader Joes is the only one in the area (to my knowledge) that sells wine. Get the "2 buck chuck" - ask the staff about it!

Trader Joe's is just the best place to go if you're looking for good food at cheap prices. They have a lot of organic and vegetarian options as well as strange food supplements and so forth. Because so much of the food is actually Trader Joe brand, it's not very expensive. Organic milk, for example, is much cheaper here than anywhere else I've found. They have a fabulous frozen section with every kind of meal imaginable, and their cheese section is unrivaled. The workers are friendly, sometimes annoyingly so, and they give out free samples of featured food and coffees. Also, their wine collection is fabulous and Trader Joe's is the official carrier of Charles Shaw wines, better known as "Two-buck Chuck" because it's so cheap. And good. They don't get 5 stars because they occassionaly run out of things and, worst of all, because they have a teeny, tiny produce section. For a health food place, that's a really bad thing.

PROS: Cheap, healthy unusual food and dirt-cheap wine
CONS: produce section is terrible
