The meals that we ordered the last time that we were here were amazing to say the least. The kitchen crew of this place deserves the recognition.

Good burritos! They seem to use fresh ingredients and they are efficient. The pricing is good for what you get. Definitely give this restaurant a chance for lunch or dinner.

I don't get why everyone loves Anna's. While their prices are cheap, I don't think that they even remotely resemble authentic Mexican food. On top of which, their service is completely inconsistent. Sometimes I can get my burrito pressed and sometimes they say they don't do that. Their hot sauce can vary from super spicy to completely mild. While it a fast and cheap place to grab a bite, I am just not impressed with Anna's at all.

food is pretty good, way better than taco hell.

got overcharged at the somerville location they said sour creme additional .50 on a super burrito, whatever i thought.....

few days later go to the one in porter square where sure they were playing authentic mexican rap music with swearing and all in spanish. some of us other folk know the bad words too and its not very professional.

saw a big line so i asked to pay and told her what i ordered. turned out to be like $5.30 for a super burrito, fine, plunked down $6 waiting for change while they finished making it. they put it in the bag next to register and i look over again and the lady wanted like $7.06 saying rice and beans were extra. rather than start an argument, because i then noticed from my police work in lynn, she had one of those tattoos of a teardrop from her eye (when a member of the same gang gets killed) i just paid it. if you are mexican you probably wouldnt want a cashier with a telltale gang tattoo/symbol handling the cash, that is unless the money is going somewhere.....

in summation:
1) GOOD food
2) WILL overcharge
3) questionable where the money is going

#3 = im not ever going back to one. the last thing i want to do is have even a %1 doubt im funding something illicit.

Apparently, this site will not let honest reviews through their filter. My first attempt was rejected, as there are apparently words describing certain of this planet's creatures that are not allowed here. Even though, please note, the expererience I am describing here is 100% true and accurate. So, read between the lines on your own.

Today, went to Anna's & ordered food to take home. At home, we'd opened a container of their quacamole and were eating it with chips when we saw an an entire whole and very large brown thing with lots of legs in the guacamole. So, I took all the food and went back to Anna's. Not only did they not apologize, but actually had the nerve to offer to replace the guacamole!!! As if we'd want another serving from the same place that guacamole came from... When I refused this offer, they finally, reluctantly gave me my money back, but only after painstakingly checking their cash register tape to make sure they had a receipt that matched up with what I had in my bag- gee, good thing I remembered to throw it all in, since I was so very calm after having such a pleasant experience. Definitely do not recommend this place.

Cons: Not clean

There is nowhere else that will serve up such large portions of delicious food for prices so low! I don't live in Boston anymore, so I have to eat at extremely second-rate Qdoba if I want a burrito. But every time I go and visit Boston, I have to stop at Anna's. My favorite is the al-pastor burrito! And I love the staff. They are so fast, I almost feel like I'm slowing them down by ordering! I also love the lemonade- refreshing and delicious. This is by far my favorite cheap food place in Boston, if not the whole East Coast.

Let me just tell you right now that I'm from California, and have lived there (until now) my whole life. So you know that means I know good Mexican food. Well, Anna's rivals anything that I've had in Cali. From the tacos to the burritos to the salsa, the place offers authentic Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices. Just bring cash.

I have to disagree with the two reviewers below me. I've never (and this is on a weekly basis over five years) had the servers make a burrito without consulting me for my choices. You must speak loudly and be sure of your order before being called on but they are receptive to your requests. Efficiency should not be mistaken for carelessness or impatience. Anna's offers a good size meal for a great price (sidebar: cash only is a nuisance at times) and just like anywhere else in the city, you will be charged for additions to your meal. I don't know who these people are that expect freebies in a city like Boston. Try the chips and guacamole - the guac is fresh and has little chunks of tomato and is really good. I have a Boloco down the street and a Chipotle soon to open nearby, and having eaten at both of those I still drive the 10 minutes to Annas.

Do yourself a favor and go to Boca Grande instead. Anna's is not good in any way... period. I went to Anna's last night in Davis Square and was not impressed at all. First of all, the service was really really bad. When I got to the counter, rather than wait for me to order, they asked if I wanted a Burrito and I said yes. Well, before even saying what kind, they had already made it and began folding it. I asked them to unfold it because they had made something I didn't want and then, after putting in the correct meat that I wanted, didn't wait for me to tell them that I wanted hot sauce. (and I don't talk slowly... he just didn't care to listen). Basically, they kept folding it before I had even listed the ingredients I wanted. I never even got the guacamole I wanted (didn't feel like asking the counter person to unfold it for a 3rd time!) And charging extra for things like sour cream seems ridiculous. I mean, what's a burrito without the proper ingredients????? And it was so hastily folded, that it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Granted there was a line behind me, but if quality is sacrificed for speediness, what's the point of even eating there??? You can get much better cheap burritos in Boston just about anywhere else. Boca Grande, El Pelon (by Fenway), and even places like Q'doba and Chipolte will give you a better burrito. I know there is a loyal Anna's following, but after my experience, I don't know how. I have lived here all my life, tried Anna's for the first time, and will never go back.

Pros: The fountain drink was okay.

Cons: Everything else

A few friends of ours recently insisted that we must try Anna's Taqueria in Brookline, MA. What a mistake! The food was seriously some of the worst I've ever had! I ordered two soft tacos and they were horrible....the tortilla was soggy, the meat and seasonings were tasteless and the veggies were way overcooked! Even if it is cheap, in my book it still has to be good. And the service was atrocious as well..nobody even spoke any english! In my opinion, Moe's Southwestern Grill needs to open up a location and show Bostonians what good Mexican food (especially burritos) tastes like. It boggles my mind that Anna's continually wins best mexican/burrito year after year in polls taken by Boston Magazines. Is it just because there aren't any other places to have mexican food? I'm not the only one who feels this way, many of my friends think anna's is horrible too.

I don't care what anyone says Anna's Burritos are pure happiness. I got hooked on Anna's 2 years ago when I worked in Somerville. The toughest part about taking on a promotion was not being able to have the best burrito I have ever had everyday for lunch. The quesadilla is pretty good too, very filling. Also top it off with a taco el pastor with a hint of lime. Thank you Anna's Taqueria!!!

Anna's is a tasty and cheap spot to grab a burrito. I always get a Carnitas (shredded pork) Burrito w/ cheese, rice&beans, salsa, and guacamole. You can also add verde hot sauce, sour cream, or lettuce. There are also the usual meat options as well as a veggie option but, if you eat pork- definitely try the carnitas! It takes a couple times to get down how to order there, many workers speak little english, but if you are polite and clear you will have no trouble ordering. Yes- They will first ask what size and type of burrito you want, then if you want cheese (then the tortilla is steamed and handed off to another person) then they'll ask if you want rice& beans, then tell them if you want the other extras. Piece of cake, err burrito. Only downside is that they only accept cash. But all around, I love Anna's and I'm thinking of going tonight!

I'm originally from San Francisco and I love food like no other. Also, I'm not a picky person when it comes to food. However, now that I've moved to Boston, I've become a much pickier eater seeing as food isn't so great here. And might I add to the list of bad restaurants... Anna's Taqueria.

Here, food is cheap which is a plus. However, in looking at the portions, the food isn't worth one cent. Why is it that a burrito at Anna's can be held in one hand? A true burrito from a true taqueria should be very large in size. You must hold it with two hands and eat around it because of its great size. Why do the workers at Anna's have to ask you what to put in your order? At any true taqueria, a true mexican order comes with every indgredient unless you tell the worker not to put it. It should always be expected that every indgredient go into a mexican plate... if not, it's not mexican.

Basically, I do not recommend Anna's Taqueria. It is not a real taqueria, nor does it have real mexican food.

I eat at Anna's very reguarly. I think it's a great burrito for a great price -- in fact I have become so addicted that I eat here several times a week (I live between the Porter and Davis locations, so it's too hard not to go often). But out of all the times I've gotten food here, and there have been many, there has been a rare time or two where the burrito has not been up to par, so maybe that explains some of the mixed reviews here. But by and large, it's great, quick food, can be relatively healthy depending on what you order, and you can't really beat the price. At this point, I couldn't live without it!

Several years ago I relocated to Southern California, where both Authentic and Americanized Mexican food is abundant, and I still found myself dreaming of Anna's. On my yearly trips back East to see family in New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Central MA, I always made the trip to Anna's. In college I went out of the way on a near daily basis to enjoy a carnitas super burrito. Anna's fits a college budget very well! It's cheap, fast, and worth even the longest of waits. I have always gotten the super burritos, but friends have raved about the other choices available. It's easy to customize your selection to get something for the timid or the daring. I would, and have, recommended this place to just about everyone I know. And I am so thankful I am now back in Boston to enjoy it!

Anna's Taqueria is amazing! By far the best burritos north of the border! Talk about bang for your buck too, this place is such a deal, you can stuff yourself for less than $5. The staff is super friendly and will make anything to order, while you wait. Its very quick and can get crowded, on occasion you have to wait for a seat, but its DEFINITELY worth the wait!

i frequent the anna's in porter and davis squares. the service is hilarious - the burrito makers artfully combine all of the ingredients (you have to see it to believe it) right in front of your eyes, resulting in a concoction that is superior, cheap, and DELICIOUS!!!! i never liked burritos, but after hearing so much good stuff about anna's and then finally going and becoming a regular, i'm a burrito convert.

I'm from the west coast, and have yet to taste a more authentic style of mexican food anywhere in Boston. The location in Brookline is ALWAYS busy, but they move quickly enough that the line is never too much of a wait. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck love this place, as well they should! The tacos are great.

Anna's, which has several locations in the Boston area, makes the BEST burritos in town. Inexpensive and exploding with delicious fillings, the burrito is a meal in itself. The salsa has lots of cilantro and the tortillas are steamed with the cheese to make the perfect wrap. The rice is cooked in chicken stock, which I think is the reason that the burritos are so good. However, vegetarians and those keeping Kosher should beware. The service is fast and efficient. The huge line moves right along and the dining room is comfortable and sunny.

PROS: Excellent, inexpensive burritos.
CONS: Chicken stock in the rice makes it off limits for some.

Whenever you can find a delicious meal for <$4, you have found a great place and that is what can be found at Anna's. Anna's are located around Boston and possibly elsewhere although I'm not sure exactly where (I have only been to the Brookline and Cambridge stores). Sometimes the pace of the employees is so rushed (it has to be to keep up w/ the demand) that it is hard to tell what you are actually ordering. Ordering can be an art that needs mastering there.

Also, their default bean is a kidney but I would recommend requesting the black beans in your burrito. Make sure to ask for eveything you want because they sometimes don't ask specifics and assume you want it plain if you don't ask for the sour cream, salsa, hot sauce, etc.

Oh and BEWARE vegetarians, the rice is cooked in chicken broth!

Pros: Value, Taste, Speed

I honestly do not know how it is possible for people to say that Anna's is bad. Anna's is by far the best burrito I have ever had. A one time hater of Mexican (the food-not the people) Anna's reformed me. Since my first taste of the AMAZING super chicken, I have been on a hunt for a burrito as tasty as Anna's. It cannot be done. I will be moving to NYC soon and I don't know how I'm going to handle it. I don't expect to ever find a burrito as good--(short of being in Mexico I suppose.) The juices, hot sauce and guac settled at the bottom... mmmm, the best part. I think it's close to being one of the best (and cheapest!) things I've ever eaten.

All of my friends recommended going to Anna's so I was really looking forward to it. The first time that I went I bought 2 tacos, a veggie on and a chicken one. They were tasteless and I was very dissappointed. Next visit I got a steak super burrito. The meat was scooped out of a bin and was pretty tasteless as was the rest of the burrito. I have been very dissappointed with Anna's. Even if the prices are good, I still say it isn't worth it.

I am appalled that there are people out there who could even think about giving Anna's an unsatisfactory review (re=dry, salty carnitas??? What???)

5 years after relocating to NYC, my friends and I still make trips to Beantown.. not for the fall foliage or the Charles River but for Anna's. Have you ever driven 8 hours (roundtrip) in one day for a Burrito? I have, it's worth it.

No other place can do what Anna's does. Where to begin? The meat is so tender, juicy, tasty. The attention to detail makes the difference. The burrito wraps are fresh and steamed while the cheese is melted perfectly. The rice has the perfect texture and please, extra hot sauce. It's all so very delicious.

The other aspects (friendly quick service and value) are perks. The food brings you back. I'm drooling on my keyboard; gonna have to make road trip this weekend.

anna is good for what it is, cheap burritos and shysty quesadillas, THIS IS NOT MEXICAN FOOD, it is a quick, cheap burrito. I dont understand how it could win best mexican, when they only have 4 things on the menu!!! if you want mexican you better off anywhere that has a menu, some Taco stand in Socal even have more diversity.

I've been going to Anna's for years, and I find it to be just as good today as it was 4 years ago.

At Anna's you watch someone create your food in front of you. I find they put the right proportions of meat, veggies, beans, etc. into burritos/quesadillas, but if you think something looks amiss, say so before they roll it up and they'll fix it.

The food tastes great, a single burrito and I'm full, AND unlike most good tasting fast food, you can easily eat without packing on 60+ grams of fat, if you so choose. (That being said, if you DO choose, it's very easy to overorder, and then overeat because everything's so yummy.)

Also, despite the hordes of people that sometimes flock to Anna's, the line always moves at a steady pace. I do prefer to do take-out as opposed to eat in, though.

5 years ago Anna's was great! Now they give you LESS meat, salsa, and other key ingredients. Also, you can get the exact same thing 5 days in a row and pay a different price each time. Strange. Disgruntled employees dont help!

Okay, the service isn't that bad - about like McDonald's. It's fast food, so I'm not going there for that. The Burritos just aren't very good though. They are basically average, fast food style burritos - about on par with Taco Bell. They fill you up, they don't taste "bad", but they have no real flavor. All in all, avoid the lines and avoid the hype - I honestly have no idea why this became something bigger than a neighborhood burrito shop.

Who cares if its cheap. You'll need the money you saved to pay the dry cleaning bill from the food that got splattered on you. Burittos were flavorless and very heavy. I'm sure it was good at one time, but that must have been a long time ago...

The food here isn't very good. Hard to say what the fuss is all about other than it's cheap. The meat in the burritos is chewy and flavorless and there aren't many beans or cheese. This is essentially college cafeteria style Mexican and the only reason it's popular is that many former students seeking to relive their college experience line up in droves to be treated rudely by the people doling out slop. Like they say you get what you pay for, which isn't much!

Anna's Taqueria is a great eat. They have the best cheap Mexican food around. Althogh the atmospher is not superb the taste of the food makes up for it. The price also is a big advantage of going to Anna's Taqueria.

In my opinion, Anna's pathetic attempt to recreate authentic Mexican fare is laughable. Having lived for a time in Southern California, I have experienced real Mexican food, and this comes nowhere close. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog.

Good, Fast, Cheap. Food is tasty, hot, and cheaper than the usual fast food joints. Lots of working people there for lunch and the line moved very fast. I'll stop in at Anna's on my next trip to Boston.

Anna's Taqueria just isn't as good as people say. The food is mediocre at best, and many things are just dripping in grease. Also, not the bargain people seem to say it is. I'm not at all impressed.

It's the best place to go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes there's a line out the door, but it moves quickly. The people who make the food work very fast. 5 bucks for a a huge meal plus a medium drink. Warning: It's a addictive...but soo good. You'll thank me later.

I was quite dissapointed with Anna's. I had heard so much about it, and found the burritos dry and not very tasty. Definently does not compare to the average California burrito, nor the far superior burritos of el pelon and burrito max.
