I have been a customer of Tropic Isle not too long, my first couple of visits it wasn't bad at all. I was helped by Katy, very knowledgeable and very patient with me and my wife. Up until now I will not be doing business with that store ever again. I had to exchange out one of my roseline sharks cause it died. They tested out my water and it tested out perfectly fine got another. In addition to getting a replacement I I wanted to get some aquarium logs. So I picked up a couple and it was priced at 16.99. But rang up for 29.99 I told the lady that the tag says 16.99 .The lady Sharon who is old and miserable and extremely rude, did not handle the situation professionally at all. She said someone could have took the tag off and placed it there allegedly saying that I switch the tag. I spend a lot of money there every time I go. I don't need to switch a dam tag just to save a couple of bucks. She is ffn retarded. Mind you I live in Boston I only drive cause of the great selection and the great service I got from Katy. But that B**** of a manager Sharon ruined it for me and will never get my business again. I don't recommend that place to any of my friends and family.

First, the good:

Katy is phenomenal. I've had my planted freshwater tank for almost a year and a half and was about ready to give up and chunk it into the front yard a few months ago. Katy worked with me extensively to troubleshoot all my issues and get my aquarium to the point that it is gorgeous and thriving. No matter how busy it is, she spends as much time with me as I need.

Now the bad:
For starters, I can't tell if the manager, Sharon, is evil or just socially retarded. She stands behind the register glaring at everyone, never speaks except to tell you your total and is just generally unhelpful. I'm sorry. I have spent a lot of time and money in that store, and a little appreciation would be awesome but, barring that, at least decent customer service is a must.

I purchased a CO2 tank and regulator from them on February 26 and that along with a couple fish and a plant came to over $500. Mr. London and Katy showed me how to attach it to the tank, filled the bubble chamber with glycerin, and showed me how to adjust the dials and count the bubbles. I set it up per their instructions and it worked great up until this past Wednesday, when the regulator just died.

I drove 30 miles to take it back to the store yesterday. They plugged it in and were also unable to get it to work, but refused to help me, even though Mr. London had personally set it up for me and remembered doing so only three weeks prior, because I "didn't follow the rules" and didn't take the receipt with me. They told me that they "sometimes have problems with" the regulator manufacturer and don't want to eat the cost of the regulator themselves, and that without the receipt the only thing they are willing to do is "work with me" and sell me another regulator at a discounted price. I looked everywhere when I got home and am still unable to find the receipt. I don't have a lot of money, but I love my aquarium and saved up for several months to finally get a tank and a good regulator. I can't afford another one and wouldn't buy anything else from them at this point, regardless.

I love Katy and will miss her advice, but I can get almost anything I need for my aquarium much more cheaply at any number of other places. I refuse to give my hard-earned money to any business that thinks so little of their customers.

have been going to tropical isle for many years, they have always had a great selction of live fish. but in the last few months i got into my first saltwater fish tank and reef, and explained this to one of the salse men. well he saw me comming and screwd me in so many ways, on every thing he told me i needed and sold me so many way over priced things, light, hydrometer for 100.00 ndollars wen i later found it online for 15.00 dollars. to the so called live rock i was told i needed and was buying, come to find out i do need lots of live rock but what they sold me at tropical isle was infact dead coral. i will never shop there again and have reported them to better buisness, just for the fact of selling me dead coral and telling me it was live rock when they knew i didnt know whaqt i was looking for because i was new to salt water tanks.
ther are so many better pet shops for fish and anything else out ther, do you reserch before you ever go to tropical isle, they are way over priced for everythin in store and they take advantage of people that dont know what they really need, you should be able to trust a salse man when you tell them you are trying to start a new hoby.

Tropic Isle Aquarium is without a doubt the best place to head to when you decide you want an aquarium for your home. They have everything you need to get setup and started. They have Freshwater and Saltwater Fish and supplies, They have a great variety of tanks at all different sizes and styles. Why shop around at different "PET" stores when you can go to one place and take care of it all! These guys also offer complete setup and installation if needed.... Check it out!
