When I knew I would be moving I looked for online reviews of local moving companies and found that Mercury Moving and Storage Systems were consistently well reviewed.
I contacted the company by emailand filled out an estimate form online. From that point on communication was quick, friendly and professional. On the day of the move, the truck arrived promptly with 3 movers who worked quickly and efficiently and took great care wrapping and carrying furniture to ensure against damage. On the delivery end they were equally careful and made sure to put things where I needed them to be.
After hearing stories from family and friends of poor moving experiences I felt very fortunate to have found Mercury Movers and would recommend them to anyone.

Mercury Moving showed professionalism from start to finish. A friend of a friend told me to contact Mercury. The sales process was responsive, accurate and fair. All of my questions and requests were responded to in no time. The day of the move was the best experience. The movers are professional, courteous, experienced and considerate. We needed to move our 2-bedroom apartment including many heavy, older pieces of furniture to our new home, with a stop along the way to pick up some items in storage. Mercury was easy to get in touch with, cordial on the phone, helpful over emails, efficient and polite guys day of move, everything put exactly where we needed it to be without going over our 8-hour time. Mercury Moving has the best customer service I have experienced in years! I can?t remember the last time I felt a company really cared about me as a customer. From when I booked the job to the very end, these guys made me feel nothing but confident in their service. Oh, and besides treating me and my family so well (they even gave me a house-warming gift!) they also came in under budget and nothing got damaged in my 3 bedroom house move! I HIGHLY recommend Mercury for an easy move.

Great Movers - So Professional!

Showed up on time, worked continuously, even when left alone. I couldn't be happier, or more satisfied with the level of service provided. $117 an hour for two men. Broke down the furniture that needed to be, and put everything back together perfectly.

I have lived in the Worcester area for 30 years in a 3BR house. Needless to say, there was a lot of stuff!.. I saw the good reviews here about Mercury, and contacted them, along with a couple of other movers. Mercury was the most responsive and realistic of the bunch. Gary came out and helped scope out the effort. I definitely needed help packing! I was under time pressure as I was closing on the house, and needed to be moved inside of 2 weeks. I had a couple of their folks out on one day to help me pack. They were great, and helped guide me through the process. A couple of days later, much of the same crew came and packed me up, and delivered me to Maine the next day. During the move, I had asked them to unpack a large speaker on the first floor, and later asked them to move it to the second floor. In doing so, they nicked a wall, and they came to me and insisted that they show me what happened. It was not a big deal, but the fact that they made sure I knew it was different from other experiences I have had! To be sure, my move was not inexpensive, but in line with other quotes from reputable firms.. but on service, they came out way ahead!

My wife and I recently used Mercury Movers to move from Jamaica Plain to Newton. We were blown away by their service from start to finish.

To begin with, Jessica provided an estimate within a few hours of our initial phone conversation. She then went out of her way to answer all of our questions promptly and thoroughly--she made us feel like we were her #1 priority (a contrast with Gentle Giant, which made us feel like one out of a thousand potential customers). Leading up to the move, Jessica stayed in touch with us to make sure we had the right kind of crew to make the move go smoothly, and accommodated our request to have Lenny on our team (Lenny had worked on a move for my brother-in-law and we had heard very good things about him--all of which proved accurate).

The move itself went very smoothly, even though it was difficult. We had the guys grab a few things from a storage unit in Stoughton, then move our things out of an 11th-floor condo in Jamaica Plain and into a 3-story house in Newton with fairly narrow/angular stairways. Despite those challenges (and the fact that we have several very heavy/bulky pieces of furniture), Lenny and the rest of the crew worked hard all day with a smile--they didn't complain once about the difficult conditions. As importantly, they treated our possessions and our new house with respect--we had just had our floors refinished and our walls painted, and the guys left the place as clean as it was at the beginning of the day. At the end of the day, after 10 hours of solid work, Lenny and his crew reviewed each room with us and patiently rearranged furniture to our liking (they even lugged a dresser from the top floor to the basement once we decided we didn't like it in the bedroom). To top it all off, they came in right at the estimated cost.

We will not use another moving company in the future--you should strongly consider giving Mercury a call for your move.

We used Mercury Moving in Avon, MA. They were fantastic and would highly recommend these movers. They were efficient and were so accommodating with anything we wanted. To move furniture around once placed and best of all they were the nicest people who worked very hard. We had a lot of very heavy pieces of furniture including a piano and they moved everything with ease. Very careful of all our belongings. Mercury Moving was the only pleasant experience we had in this whole process of moving. Don't go anywhere else. Family owned company key!!!

I will never use another mover besides Mercury Moving. My experience could not have been any easier. These guys packed every last thing in my four-bedroom home, moved it, and set everything up without so much as a scratch or complaint. They were in perfect spirits and made me feel like the world's most special customer. Yay Mercury Moving!!!! Oh, and they were about 5% under the estimate - who can beat that????

My husband and I used Mercury Moving in August when we moved into our new home. The movers showed up right on time, quickly, yet carefully, loaded our belongings onto the truck and then met us at our new home. Again, they unloaded and carefully placed everything where it belonged. I was very impressed with their ability to maneuver pieces into our back hallway - it's tiny!

The staff, from beginning to end, was gracious, helpful, and just plain fantastic. We would definitely use Mercury Moving again in the future.

I would like to add my praise to a long list of well-deserved reviews. I recently moving cross-country using a self-pack moving service, plus movers on both ends, to save on the cost of a full-service move. I hired Mercury Moving on the packing side. I decided this would be the place to splurge, since I wanted them to pack my things in really well to avoid damage. Did they ever come through for me! Two guys loaded my boxes, advised me on suitability of the smaller items I had packed, packed my furniture, and loaded the furniture for my one-bedroom apartment in about three hours. They were polite, good-natured, and they did an EXCELLENT job. I've just begun unloading everything on the other end and not one item was damaged or mislaid. The office staff are just as responsive, efficient, and friendly. If you want a painless move, these are your movers.

I had a great experience with Mercury. I moved from Attleboro to Bridgewater. They were ontime, worked hard, and were professional and friendly. I'm going to use them again in two weeks when my fiance moves to our new house as well. Highly recommended!

Last month was the 3rd time I have used Mercury Moving. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I was blown away by the professionalism and courtesy of the movers. I moved from a roomy, spacious apartment to a 100 year old house with narrow door frames, small rooms, and oddly placed hallways. To be completely blunt, this move was a GIANT pain in the a**!!! The movers worked thier butts off - they barely even paused for a lunch break. Some moving companies purposely drag out the time to jack up the bill - not these guys. I was the one who had to say "Guys, why don't you take a break for a minute?" It was about 1,000 degrees out and they never complained, never stopped moving. They were on time, got the move completed in a reasonable amount of time and handled my furniture and belongings with a great amount of care. Also, I didn't do the greatest job of packing some of my items and they took the care to pack them up properly and make sure they weren't damaged. OH- and how could I have forgotten this part - my sofa wouldn't fit through the door of the house. They tried EVERYTHING to get it in, had a million suggestions and strategies and wouldn't quit until I finally told them to forget it (it was logistically impossible). Some movers would have been like, "Too bad, lady, it doesn't fit". Not these guys.

And as for the office staff - wow. Jessica couldn't have been more helpful, kind, and courteous. As I said before, this was my 3rd time using them (would never use anyone else), and like all the other times, Garry, the owner, personally called me during the move to make sure everything was going okay and I was happy with the service. Their rates are completely reasonable and fair - I got an amazing deal, especially considering how difficult my move was. They are simply the best - you'd be crazy to go with anyone else.

I recently had the occasion to move locally and sought out three estimates before deciding on my mover.

The first was a national franchise. The representative was pleasant and professional but provided a quote for a 1 br apartment that was too high. The second company was a large regional mover with a solid reputation. The quote was more competitive, however, the representative was harsh and dismissive and seemed to only be interested in booking the move without really answering any questions or addressing any concerns. The third firm was a local mover who turned out to be Mercury Moving & Storage.

I spoke with Jessica Hennessy who as it turned out was one of the owners. This is a family owned & operated business where the customers actually do interact with the owners. She took great pride in representing her company and answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns when I asked about insurance. I felt confident that I had found the right Mover.

I booked the move and asked if I could drop off the deposit. I met the owner, was introduced to her husband who is also her partner, and given a tour of the facility and shown how my furniture would be packed.

On the day of the move, I was told that the two movers would arrive between 8-9 am. At 7:55 am the truck pulled up to my apartment. I was met by two movers who introduced themselves and were friendly & professional. My belongings were treated with care and the move was completed without any damage or loss to my property.

I subsequently received a call from Jessica Hennessy to ensure that my move was done to my satisfaction.

I would enthusiastically recommend Mercury Moving & Storage to anyone who is seeking a professional Mover and who is seeking service that is nothing short of "first in class".

I've used this moving company twice now for inter-Boston moves after moving to this area from NYC (with a Mayflower affiliate that did a terrible job). The office staff and crew are really exceptional. Nothing was damaged during either move - that includes 2 plasma TVs, AV equipment, computers, and large antique wood furniture and leather couches. They are one of the few companies that can/will offer full replace value insurance (which was important to me given high value of items) - most will just do insurance at $.60 per pound or offer depreciated value as an upgrade. They honor their estimates and no hidden fees either time. When researching moving companies, only Mercury and Gentle Giant were the only two moving companies I came across with such exceptional reviews. For not much more than the discounters, less than Gentle Giant and comparable to a Mayflower or United - I'd definitely go with Mercury any time.

Mercury Movers recently moved my family from one home to another within our town. Local moves like this are long and hard. The moving team worked until late in the night and they maintained a positive attitude throughout their long day. They were polite, and very service oriented. I worked for a moving company many years ago, and I have a pretty good sense of what a good moving company looks like. I think Mercury Movers are top notch and we are already plan on using them again when we move back into our home a year from now.

We used Mercury Moving when we moved out of our house in September and they stored all of our furniture, plus almost everything else we own, until we moved into our new house the following July. The move in and out was done carefully and professionally. They took care wrapping everything. Our stuff was in storage for almost 10 months and everything came out in the same condition as it went in.
Customer service was also excellent. I would recommend Mercury Moving to everyone and would use them again!

This is the second time that I have used Mercury Moving. The first was with my first home move. The latest was to move my company. The movers were quick and efficient. They were able to move large amounts of large (and heavy) furniture easily through narrow passage ways and up 3 flights of stairs. Computers, servers and important equiment were also in the move. Everything shipped with no problems. The workers were kind and professional. In addition to having a smooth move, the customer service and response rate was excellent. I highly recommend Mercury Moving and will certainly use them again.

I have used Mercury Moving for three movers and they are amazing. I recently had a very stressful situation where I had to move quickly and Jess and Garry were so helpful in helping me arrange the move. They were responsive and answered all of my very detailed questions. (I had a lot of things to consider with a washer/dryer, possible sofa hoisting and moving to a 3rd floor apartment). On moving day, the movers were friendly, efficient and open to communication. (And this is while climbing many, many stairs in the heat!) During the move, I injured my thumb trying to open a deadbolt lock and one of the movers whipped out his First Aid kit and bandaged up my thumb. The service is outstanding and the price is right. I highly recommend Mercury Moving!!

I moved from an apartment to a condo in March 2008 and first contacted Gentle Giant based on their reputation and previous awards. When the quote came in, I thought it was high and looked on CItySearch to find another moving company and came across Mercury Moving. I was actually a little suspect as everyone only had accolades to say abot them - figured maybe the owners made all their employees sign up for Citysearch or something!

In any event, I did get the quote - it was a good 20-25% less than Gentle Giant, so I went with Mercury (I did like Gentle Giant's service of box delivery that you can do online however!). I am glad I went with Mercury and have found their customer service exceptional - almost mythic as Nordstorm's was in the early days.

My move for the most part went fairly well with the exception that the movers broke (demolished is a more accurate word) an antique table from the late 1700s worth several thousand dollars. It was a honest mistake and goes under the sh** happens. However, what was truly exceptional was working with Mercury on a satisfactory resolution. I never had to haggle. In fact, the first words out of Mercury's mouth where "it's our fault and we take total responsibility"). She said this was the first time something like this had happened and I believe it.

The thing I liked most about this company is that is run by active owners - Garry and Jessica. They went on vacation shortly after my move and I was still getting e-mails from Jessica to ensure the insurance company was handling everything correctly. They - at their initiative - took my piece to one of the premier restoration companies in Boston. I think 95% of the companies would have tried to have it done by some second rate hack.

I am an executive in the Customer Service industry, so I can be hard to impress. When things go smoothly, most companies do a good job. It's when things go south that companies really set themselves apart.

Unlike many other moving companies, Mercury was willing to see my old apartment and map out the exact route to my new Boston place in great detail down to the use of specific elevators. I felt much more confident that my price quote would be accurate -- and it was. In talking to other movers, I had the sense that they were under-quoting me just to get my business. Both company leadership and our specific movers were very pleasant and hard working. My furniture all arrived without damages. I will use Mercury again without hesitation for my next move.

The movers were a lot of fun to be around and extremely efficient. They moved our piano to a 2nd floor apartment. They even helped move a clothes dryer we were giving away to a friends truck. I am not the write a review type of guy. But, after using Mercury, I felt these guys deserved the credit. I have moved several times in the last 20 years, and none of the moves was without issue. From expensive moving companies to van lines, there was always a problem ? lost stuff, over estimates, or just general dissatisfaction with the quality of service. So, when I read the reviews of Mercury, I was a bit skeptical, but thought I would give them a try. What did I have to lose? Well, the truth is I didn?t have to lose anything ? THE MOVE WAS PERFECT. From the estimate to the follow-up at the end of the move, there was not one issue; and I had lots of expensive heavy furniture being moved into a brand new 4,500 square foot home with sparkling new soft pine floors. Plenty of opportunity for errors. Things could not have been easier. The crew was prompt, respectful, knowledgeable and actually enjoyable to be around. Pedro, the crew leader, was respectful to his crew members as they were to him. Being efficient and professional while still remaining personable can be difficult, but these guys were able to keep track on the job at hand while also enjoying working with each other and by even making us laugh during move day. Besides the movers, the office staff was great. Jessica even suggested and then arranged a pick up from Salvation Army for items I was going to have them take to the dump. They would have made more money by hauling away the items. But, instead they helped to get me a tax credit! Besides the great service, nothing was damaged and the price came under the estimate. The next time I have to move, I will not fool around with any other mover. Garry, and the crew at Mercury? Thanks so much for doing such a great job! JP

I found Mercury Moving last minute on the internet and I am so glad that I did! They were incredibly responsive and personable right from the get-go, starting with the initial email on a Sat morning, followed by the owner coming over THAT SAME AFTERNOON to give an on-site quote, plus explaining aspects of move that a layperson would never thing of (For example, using an "odd" number of movers on a job with furniture only -- no boxes -- makes no sense. Why? Because furniture requires two to move it so what's the other guy supposed to do if there isn't any smaller stuff to carry?)

Mercury was incredibly professional: they came on time, got immediately to work and got "in synch" with the floor plan we had created. They also wore uniforms, which at first I thought was just a marketing ploy. Not so, though, as I was able to address each mover by name, which was incredibly helpful.

I hope I never have to move again but only because it creates so much upheaval. However, if I did, I would absolutely call Mercury, whether I was moving down the street or across the world. This operation is tops!

We used Mercury for three total moves and each time the staff was professional, on time and efficient beginning with the quote, arrangements and finally the move. Hopefully we won't have to move again but if we do they will be our first call. I would definitely suggest calling Mercury first.

As I said in the title...these guys...and let's not forget about Jessica at the office who always answers the phone...no leaving voicemails for me...are THE BEST MOVERS EVER!!! My wife, 3 month old son and I bought our first home and were moving from Brookline to Roslindale on the worst week of the year to move in Boston...the last week of August leading up to September 1st. To complicate matters even more, we had issues at our closing which cuased us to have to reschedule our move from 9/26 to 9/28 and we did not find out about this until 9/24. At the 11th hour, Mercury was able to reschedule my move for 2 days later which worked and we are now moved in to our new home and we could not be happier.

3 hard working men showed up at our door right on time, even though they called me to tell me that they were stuck in trafic and would be late...they did not end up being late at all....and they got right to work. They had our mess of an apartment (3rd floor walk up) all packed into thier truck (a very new and clean truck) within 3 hours which was no small task considering the amount of stuff that we had. They then had us all unloaded at our new home 2.5 hours later. These guys worked smart and hard. They never looked like they were killing themselves, yet they were getting the work done quickly and they were incredibly polite...especially to my 70 year old mother and father who were there to assist us with our newborn son.

We learned of Mercury from two of our close friends who had used them in the past...one of these friends has used them 3 times already. They had the same experience as we did. There is no need to spend any time getting quotes from other companies...these guys are the best and they did quote us the best price out of the 3 companies that we called.

As an FYI...I never write reviews for any product or service that I use. However, I felt compelled to write this one based on my experience with Mercury. BEST EVER...NO JOKE!!!

I recently moved from Ashland to Franklin and ended up using Mercury after getting quotes from several area movers. Gary and Jessica were extremely helpful throughout the initial process, and Jessica was very timely with responses to questions and information. That led me to select them for my move and I could not have made a better choice.

Every part of the move really went perfect. The movers showed up right on time, worked extremely hard, and got the move done earlier than expected. They made sure that all of my belongings were placed in the proper locations, and came in exactly at the estimated cost. I've heard a lot of horror stories from friends that have moved with other companies and this was the first time I have used a moving company. Needless to say, I would chose Mercury again for any future moves that I may need.

From the start Mercury was very easy to deal with - Jessica answered about a million emails for me - always being patient and giving me a lot of useful information & responding with lightening speed!

The process of getting an estimate for my move was quite simple & they explained the various options so that I understood each one completely. They worked with me to figure out which options worked best for me & my situation.

The movers arrived exactly on time (even with insane Boston traffic), were very friendly, and started prepping my furniture to load on the truck. They brought furniture pads & got the mattress & boxspring covered & ready to move. When they found a box that wasn't properly packed they took the time to retape or repack it.

I was moving a 75 gallon fish tank & the guys could not have been more patient with me as I prepped the tank to move it. They even offered to help (which was completely NOT their job...) with moving some of the water & fish. They were very patient when it came to moving the tank & stand and never once complained (even though I know it is a HUGE pain). They were very careful with the tank & made sure it was properly padded & protected for the drive.

Once we got to the new place, the guys were great about making sure all the boxes & furniture ended up in the right places, even though my labeling was both confusing & lacking. They were incredibly careful the whole time to make sure they didn't let my cats out of the house.

I was pretty overwhelmed when trying to choose a moving company (there are WAY too many options out there)! However, Jessica & the rest of the crew at Mercury made the experience easy - they provided as much information & help as they possibly could, were conscientious, careful & accomodating. They made the nightmare of moving a LOT easier. I could not be happier with Mercury & will refer any friends & family to use them : )

I've used Mercury Moving twice -- once when moving from New Haven, CT to Somerville, and once moving from Somerville to Salem, MA. On both occasions the move went perfectly. Everything was in perfect shape, the guys were extremely efficient, and they were even friendly and fun to talk to! (I challenge you to find other movers who can claim THAT!) And both times the price came in under the estimate, which in both cases was extremely competitive. I've had bad experiences with movers before, and I can't say what a pleasure it is to have everything go as smoothly as they have for me with Mercury. I've recommended them to everyone I know who's moving. You get the sense that this is a company that takes real pride in its work, and understands that giving customers excellent service at a good price is the key to long-term success -- and that makes you feel really good about doing business with them.

The movers had a great attitude and worked very very hard!!!! I own a business and am not easily impressed. My house was brand new and I was very worried about my floors or walls getting dinged etc... Everything is in perfect condition!!!

Mercury's crew was FANTASTIC! We were a difficult job with all the packing that had to be done at the last minute. Everyone was very careful with our belongings, taking care to put extra tape as needed and keep boxes with fragile items straight up and heavy items from getting on top of lighter things. We did not hear one complaint. Everyone worked very hard and was no polite...true professionals! We could not have been more pleased.

I found Mercury on-line through this site, the were reviews were stellar so I thought I'd give them a try - couldn't be happier that I did! Courteous, punctual, and affordable - Mercury was truly fantastic. The movers were beyond accommodating...they wouldn't let lift a thing they completed my entire move an hour ahead of schedule. They even stayed to help me hang a picture. All of my belongings were wrapped to perfection and handled with total care. I would highly recommend Mercury - the reviews are true!

Mercury Moving was recommended to us by mutual friends of the owners. Mercury moved us from a North End apartment to the suburbs. The 3 man crew did a fantastic job....this is the first time we used professional movers and we were thoroughly impressed by the care with which they treated our furniture and antiques. We originally intended to move our art work ourselves, the crew had art crates with them and quickly wrapped our pieces and safely packed them in the protective crates. This was a huge time and stress saver. We can't think of anything that we were not happy with in the move.

Since our move we recommended them to my in-laws and a client off mine, both of whom used Mercury and had equally good results. While we did not get other quotes, my inlaws did for their move and I think Mercury was the lowest.

Moving can be not only annoying and tiresome but very emotional for some. Not only does this moving company do it's very best to move your dearest and most personal belongings with the upmost care but they also move you and your emotions with the same amount of care too. Not only do the owners care but their workers have the upmost respect for the owners that they put all of their hearts into the job too. I have heard stories of the movers on site listening to the home owners talk about the emotional difficulties they were going through during the move and the movers were honestly caring for the persons well being. It's a large moving company that can give you everything you need from moving to storage but work everyday with a heart of a small close family. You will not only be happy but you will be thrilled and satisfied!

A friend highly recommended Mercury Moving so I chose them for my recent move from Cambridge to New York City. I have previously used large moving companies and everytime something was damaged and the furniture arrived with a serious delay (Wheaton was awful!). My experience with Mercury was drastically different. Not a single thing got damaged or lost and they picked up my stuff on time and delivered it at the promised time. Oh, and the furniture made the Boston-NYC trip in less than 24 hours. I was impressed!

It was pouring down rain with wind gusts to 60 miles per hour when I moved. The four gentleman who moved me did not complain once. They were concerned about my belongings and treated them as their own. They added felt pads to the bottom of my furniture to protect all of the floors in my new home, made every effort possible to get a dresser up-stairs (that did not end up fitting), wrapped and padded every item of furniture to make sure they were protected and moved as quickly as possible to try and keep all of my belongings dry. I was truly impressed with all they did.
The owners were wonderful as well and even followed up the move that night with a call on my cell phone. I then received an e-mail today.
All I can say is to USE THIS COMPANY!!! I've lived in Boston for 13 years and have moved 4 times. This was by far the best experience!

In having to make a last-minute move, I called several movers that cost less per hour and told me they could do a 9-hour move in 4 hours. Don't be fooled - Mercury Moving was dead-on in their assessment of how long the move would take and how much it would cost. They also arrived on time and finished on time...without wasting any time in the process. What was impressive was that at the last-minute one of the 3 movers didn't make it. I panicked momentarily, thinking I'd wind up paying more due to being one man short. Not to worry: Mercury Moving adjusted my cost per hour and even gave me a slight discount. The 2 movers worked like Trojan horses, and when it was all said and done, my cost was less than I'd calculated. There is no way other companies could have done this 9-hour move in 4 hours, and I know they wouldn't have done as meticulous a job. Mercury Moving took impeccable care of my furnishings, many of which are very valuable and fragile. They also provided impressive customer service: The owner initially called me several times to make sure I understood how he arrived at his quote, and when the 3 movers I had expected turned into 2, the owner called several times to make sure I understood the change in rate and even offered to come help with the move to make sure it got done in a timely fashion! I had a little bit of moving things around to do when the movers left, but what I appreciated is that they didn't use my dollar for little things I could do myself just so they could keep increasing my bill. In fact, they made a point of letting me know what tasks would be an efficient use of time and what tasks I could help with to save time and not waste money. I would definitely use them again. You get what you pay for, and what you pay for with Mercury Moving is top-notch service.

The movers came ON TIME and did an excellent job. They are really flexible and are willing to work on jobs big or small. I have a very valuable (and incredibly heavy) piece of furniture. Not only did they spend plenty of time prepping the piece for the move, but they also did a great job moving this massive piece into my new aparment WITHOUT nicking a wall!
