Urban Outfitters on Newbury Street

by Jaimi C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,366

I do not like this Urban Outfitters as much as the Harvard Square store. The atmosphere of the store, as another reviewer noted, is teeming with pretentious snobbery and ironic hipster-types. The clearance rack does not compare to the sale basement at the Harvard Square location. The store feels crowded with merchandise. I like the way the fitting rooms are arranged more than the other locations, however.

PROS: Generally amicable employees
CONS: Obnoxious patrons, no sale basement

Urban Outfitters

by Samantha B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,750

This store is great to just browse. I am not into the clothing as much, but they have a bunch of gifts and books downstairs that are fun to look through. If you need to buy a gift for that person on your list that you have no idea what to give them, go to this store. You are sure to find something that they will like, even if it is a gag gift, they will enjoy a Would You Rather or Bunny Suicides book.

Cool gifts and good clothes

by Eric P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,815

Urban Outfitters on Newbury Street is conveniently located right outside the Hynes Convention Center Green Line stop across from the Virgin Music Store. The ground level houses all the store's unique and fun gifts. My friends and I have found many a birthday present here, and each time the gifts are funny and youthful. The clothing is also interesting. It is all very youthful. While at times Urban Outfitters may seem a bit overpriced, if you are looking for something a bit funky, it is a good place to start

Great clothes and gift items

by Lauren M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,321

Urban Outfitters is famous among college kids in the area for unique yet trendy clothing items and original gift ideas. They offer all sorts of stuff for both guys and girls, and also all tons of things to decorate your apartment or dorm. Though alot of the things are overpriced, you can still find some decent sale items. Every now and then there is a controversial piece such as this months tee-shirt "New Mexico..cleaner than Mexico."

PROS: Great gift ideas
CONS: Pricey

Fun store

by Jennette M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,872

Urban Outfitters is a fun store. It's the perfect place to go to pick up random, funny birthday gifts and home accessories. The clothes are great, and they feature many brands. Thd big problem with Urban Outfitters, besides the fact that it's a bit overpriced, is that your "unique" t-shirt will be seen on everyone around town. This particular store at 361 Newbury is good because it's large and has a bigger selection of sizes and clothing. Most importantly, it has a large section for housewares and fun gifts, so you may actually find something great here that you couldn't find at another Urban Outfitters. Plus, this store is in a great location- right outside of Hynes.

Location

by Emily S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,891

The prominant location of this Urban Outfitters makes finding something unique there next to impossible. Its sad that now I find myself going there for super-soft tees and small household items and nothing else. It always seems to be understaffed, and hopping with rude customers that find witty tshirts to be the highest form of comedy. Go on a weekday.

Urban Outfitters - Boston

by Nicole M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,572

This store is definitely a bit better than the one in Cambridge. The employees seem to be friendlier and there is also a clearance rack. The clearance rack is nice if you like the unique designs but can't afford the normal prices, as they are normally pretty expensive considering the quality.

However, the household section isn't as big. Also, a lot of the more unique clothes that also seem to be better made seem to only be sold in New York stores form what I've seen.

More expensive than Harvard Sq.

by Anonymous

There are definitely some great clothes in UO on Newbury street but for a much better deal you should take a trip out to Harvard square because you'll find all the same things there that are on Newbury and more...........there's also a bargain basement that has some really affordable deals on sale!
