Ratings_icons Northeast Animal Shelter is the best

Dorina A.

I adopted two beautiful kitties from the HAS 19 years ago. I had my little boy 16 years and my little girl I just lost last week, she was almost 20; it broke my heart to lose them, I am still not over it. I will be back in time but for right now I need to remember all the unconditional love, the sweet faces, the playful fun, these were both happy healthy kitties from day one. I had a wonderful 20 years thanks to the Northeast Animal Shelter, they are wonderful.

Ratings_icons Best Shelter in New England

Marcy B.

NEAS shelter was started in 1976 and until last year it operated out of the basement of a veterinary clinic. We adopted a wonderful dog who gave us years of enjoyment. In 2008 NEAS opened a new 13,000 sf facility that is wonderful, airy, and clean. I read that one person reported a bad experience, but on my visits I am always warmly greeted and feel the staff is truly concerned about the welfare of the animals. They have a lot of different "counselors" and some are more friendly than others. I highly recommend NEAS as a first stop for anyone wanting to adopt a dog or cat. They also get a lot of puppies, which don't last long before they are adopted.

Ratings_icons Horrible Shelter - Worst Staff Ever

Katelyn T.

I have never in my life had such a negative experience dealing with anyone as I have in dealing with the staff at NEAS. When I visited the shelter, the staff was rude, unfriendly and completly deaming. One women, unsure of her name, about 5'7, brown eyes, curly brown hair, mid thirties, was particularly horrible. For no apparent reason, she chose to talk down to me and accuse me of not being fit to adopt. This came as a shock to me as I have adopted from the shelter in the past, own a home with a large fenced in yard, live on a dead end road and have a large family of dog lovers. It is unfortuante that she chose to treat me and other so terribly because in the end, it was a puppy that was not able to be adopted by a great family.

I have gone here a couple of times to get kittens. The service is top notch, and the staff is very friendly. When getting an animal here the animal always come first. They make sure that the animal is going to be well cared for and have plenty of space to play. They take very good care of all the animals here. There is always a large selection of pets to choose from, and if you don't see what you were looking for they will try to find it for you.

Ratings_icons North East Animal Shelter

What I like about the North East Animal Shelter is that they are a no kill animal shelter. The staff all work hard to help find homes for the kittens & cats, puppies & dog that people bring them for adoption. The center is super clean everyone is super nice. They are very greatful for any type of donations in cash or pet food and pet supplies or office supply donations. These pets are always well cared for & played with during the day. Vet on site in case of medical needs. Consider them for your next pet dontion or pet adoption.

The shelter is clean & fresh smelling. The animals are not kept in cages all day they have plenty of fun time playing with staff members and socializing with other pets.
