Ratings_icons Dishonest and incompetent service department

What a nightmare. I took my Acura here for a simple brake repair because it was close to my office and a routine job; never again, for anything. Service advisor provided muddled (at-best), inaccurate information regarding labor/parts needed in repair, grossly overcharged on parts on invoice, and failed to credit coupon brought in prior to repair. Service advisor told me they'd be replacing the calipers (justifying the estimate, I thought), but only serviced them. Ultimately, they ended up billing me $714.95(!) for rear pads and rotors and servicing of calipers, which should have been $589.96 at even normally inflated Acura dealer prices (I know, I've had them done at Acrua dealer before and checked current dealer (Acura/Honda) prices before going.) The rotors should have been billed as $84.43 each (customer price at Acura dealer and even at Herb Chambers' own part department), yet they billed me $240 for the pair for parts alone. All other parts were similarly padded over and above dealer prices. I brought in a coupon for $100-off rear brake work, but they only discounted $70. Cashier was inept, ignorant, and unhelpful in any regard when trying to get bill corrected, plus claimed there was no manager or service advisor to help (it was only 4:30 p.m. on a Tuesday). She wasn't even able to correct my inaccurate contact information printed on the invoice, which I tried to do because I knew I would be following up. To top it off, when I got to my car, I discovered that the complimentary car wash I was supposed to get was merely a splash of dirty water dumped on it: it looked like it had been in a thin mud bath--worse than when I left it. Plus, the brakes felt soft on the drive home, so work didn't seem to be done correctly either. Every level of service was substandard; and guess what, nobody there gives a tinker's cuss.

Ratings_icons Very poor workmanship in their service department

I bring my 2001 Honda Accord to have regular oil change in this dealer for several years. The last one in one month ago. Not too long after the oil change, my oil light starts to turn on. I had a inspection in a local auto shop. It turns out the oil stick shows no sign of oil and there are blobs of glue around the oil drain plug. I got back to the dealer and the dealer's explanations is that on my last oil change, they thread was broken, so without even mention about this on their service report, they just put some glue around the oil plug and want to fix that in my next service. I went on for some long trips and now the engine is likely damaged. Is this what you expect from a dealer service? A simple oil change almost led to a engine replacement? What kind of service is that? They even want to charge me over $700 for replacing the oil pan.Don't go there!

By the way, their message for people buying car there should read,:

WE DON'T SELL CAR, WE HELP PEOPLE TO BUY THEM BY DAMAGING THEIR CAR FIRST THROUGH OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT!

Ratings_icons I can't comment on Sales BUT SRVICE IS VERY GOOD!

I must admit, after reading so many reviews, I had not planned on using Herb Chambers Honda to service my car. My husband first took our car there for regular maintenance and so far, they have been great. The repair time has been reasonable and easy to schedule. They have been friendly and the building clean. Again, we bought our car in Illinois but are happy with the service department.

Ratings_icons Sales people are jerks

Been to Herb Chambers last weekend for Memorial Day sales for a CR-V. After the test drive, he wanted us to quote a price. Then bought his manager over to discuss the price details - he was cheesy to say something like - 'You expect me to sell at that price - How do I let my lights on and stay in the market - You can leave now" types. What the hell? He is selling something and I am just a buyer looking for a deal - If this is the way they handle customers, and make the customer leave flush-faced - They are up to no doing no better.

I ended up completing the deal on phone for the same very price 30 mins out of Herb Chambers!

Looks like I was not the only potential customer treated that way!

Went today 5/17/08 to lease a CRV. Was given a price yesterday, brought my wife back today , did all the paperwork and then was told they could not honor the price as a "mistake" had been made. There was no negotiating or apologizing, my wife and I were yelled at "haven't you ever made a mistake before"? Very sleazy operation , would never buy a car there, STAY AWAY

Was shopping for a Honda CVR, got internet info from consumer reports and such and brougth it over. sales guy took it to his boss, boss came over and told me something like "we can't help you, you can go now". If I did not know sales folks can jerks I'd be upset.

P.S. bought the car for that price in Weymouth - very freindly people and no hassle

Ratings_icons Nice place to buy a car

Herb Chambers Honda is a very consumer-friendly place to buy a car. The cars are reasonably priced (for cars) and the sales representitives are helpful and not pushy or angry if you walk out. The service that they provide is outstanding, and they do not do unnecesary repairs to drive the bill up. Instead, they will offer a lower cost solution if there is one available. Honda builds a quality car that lasts. All around, I would definately reccomend Herb Chambers Honda is a great place to purchase a new car.

Ratings_icons Nice and Low Pressure Place

We went there on 8/3/05 for shopping for a new car. The staff there is friendly and helpful. The price was explained very clearly. We were also given the opportunity to test drive several models. There is definitely no pressure for sale. The Honda models are reliable and reasonably priced. It is very near to where we live. It is a great shopping experience for us.

Great service and great supply!
