Although later the haircut turned out to be okay, my blow dry made me look like the frumpiest person on Newbury Street, and I was very unhappy leaving the salon, with a very important personal trip planned to start at 545 the next morning. I was so upset about my hair cut that I called the salon to complain later that day-- actually just for some moral support. The mean owner receptionist told me that she couldn't fix my emotional upset, and then, because I was so upset, withdrew my appointment that I was driving to, to get my haircut fixed- just like that. I had just forked over nearly $400.00 and just like that, she hung up on me and said Umi would not recognize me as a client if I came there to try to get the haircut fixed. I was completely powerless in this transaction and felt completely powerless.
I've never in all my life been so powerless in a customer service oriented situation and never been treated like this in my life by any business. It was a horrible experience. The price tag is exhorbitant.

I had outstanding service at Umi Salon. Everything was pleasant, professional and accommodating. The hair stylist I was with had vision and direction for how I should wear my hair and I'm pleased that I followed his advice. I had what can only be described as a total hair makeover at Umi Salon. What's noteworthy is that I had no expectation of having a total makeover. I've never, ever had a better haircut in my life. They have their own products too - and they are my new fav - UmiFoam - yummy!!!

I had the worst hair cut and salon experience here of my life! The teacher was a dictator, and I wish I had gotten up from the chair and walked out so I could pay someone else to fix it. They did a short pixie cut that was extremely wrong for my round face. I don't blame the student, she could tell I was pissed and seemed to feel bad and quite nervous. I blame the teacher and the receptionist who said it would not be a pixie cut when I called for the appointment and said I was cool with going short but that was the only cut I didn't want. I told the instructor I could even go fairly short on the sides and in the back but couldn't she leave an inch of hair on either side of my face to fall to chin length? I still wanted to feel feminine. Her response was that that wouldn't be a "proper" style and she wouldn't do it! I went against my better judgement and hoped she knew how to make it still seem girlish. What a mistake! You shouldn't be lied to and get your hair butchered just cause you're trying to watch what you spend. No one deserves what I think of as one of the most unfriendly/ worst customer service experiences of my life. If I could choose negative stars I would!

I actually really like my hair. It took me over a week to adjust to the changes. Different does not mean bad. I have received lots of compliments about the color.

I went to Umi for a haircut model call. I had short hair, bob style, and so the only haircut that they could get from that was a pixie cut. Angela gave me the haircut. She was professional, had gentle hands, and did a great job. My friends say I look younger, but need my hair colored (I guess my natural hair color of dark blond is not that stylish). All stylists were personally supervised by the owner and two more senior stylists, and it looked like they were judging the American Idol contest (not cheesy, just very attentive to minute details). Also, at the reception there was Laura, the person who was responsible for model call (email her if interested, preferably with a picture of current look). She was professional, friendly, attentive and had a killer haircut. I have no problems with Umi, and would go there again, but only for model call, as I cannot afford anything over $50. I guess if the haircut was $400, I would not rate the experience that high, but then again the only thing I would buy for that kind of money would be a plasma TV or a trip to Mexico, so what haircut can compare to that?

Umi is the salon visit in Boston. It's very expensive, but you will leave the salon feeling new and fresh, as I did. The stylists there do very good work and the place has a nice feeling about it.

Umi Salon is unique. You can tell they are serious about what they do, but they don't take themselves too seriously. The salon projects a cool and confident vibe and they deliver with really beautiful looks.

Of all the stylists that have done my hair over the years, nothing will ever compare to the way Jeffrey Dauksevich cut my hair. He is the undoubtedly the best hairstylist I have ever sat with, period. Brilliant, talented beyond words, and so, so nice... I wish him all the best. He is a very special individual with a charm that is completely intoxicating. His salon is wonderfully calm , and he has the most beautiful and personable staff I have ever encountered. Umi Salon is the best of the best.

I went to Umi Salon recently because I really needed to change my style. I could not have found myself in more capable hands. Everyone there was very nice, creative, great looking, and very professional. I was also impressed with the way they interact with each other, which was very composed and professional. It made me feel very comfortable and excited to be there. Best of all, I love my hair now!

I found Umi Salon when I was about to give up after so many disappointing tryouts at every ?best? and ?award winning? hairstylist/salon in the area. It?s surprising how hard it is to find a knowledgeable expert stylist in a city where there are so many salons. I found my dream coiffeur Jeffrey at his salon Umi. Of course he happens to be the most expensive haircut in town, but he is worth every penny. I loved him- he has an effortless way of doing everything, he understood exactly what I wanted without my having to explain myself, and my hair really is the best it?s ever been.

I went to Umi Salon to see Jeffrey not knowing what I wanted to do with my style, so I requested a trim. Well, he wasn't having any of that, and within 45 minutes my hair was cut into something completely new and exciting. I went from long to short, and I coudn't be happier. He has a very good eye and is a supreme talent with the scissors.

First of all great haircut and color. However, nothing more special then what I have had elsewhere! Grant you I am not a stylist or colorist. But, I do know my hair and I have been around a few great salons in my life. I know when I have a great cut/color by the way I feel as soon as I walk out of the salon and see the reactions I recieve from strangers and friends.
The salon first of all is very sterile and cold in appearance. The stylist was talented and nice enough. But, got the impression she was not happy there, or at all??
However, what really dissapointed me was when it came to pay my bill. My jaw nearly fell to the floor. It was $400. for a shampoo, conditioning treatment, multiprocess color (highlights, low lights) and a cut with blowdry and hot iron. I don't know what cost the most....probably the color.
If you have the money to burn, and you like that sort of enviroment go for it!!! However, there are a plurality of great salons around the city of Boston that have great talent, better enviroment, and more style and personality then Umi.

Umi was a really good find for me. I went there not really knowing what I wanted to do with my long grown out layers, but that was not a problem- they had plenty of ideas that I'd never thought would work well on me, so I put my trust in them, and left with a completely new look that I am really happy with.

That's how I felt at Umi Salon. There is no doubt that they have a very distinct edge, and that they are all about design and presentation- you can feel it the moment you enter. The best part is that you leave with a little piece of it. Very specific and style savy. Expensive, yes, and maybe not for everybody, but then again, I consider that to be my advantage:)

I think the the way this salon presents itself is very appealing, the service is direct and informative, and the feeling of the salon is very high design and style- in the most positive sense. My haircut was with owner Jeffrey, who is quietly electric and clearly in command. I've been wearing my new haircut for just over a month now, and it is still feeling fresh and alive. Umi is definately for the style-aware.

Jeffrey Dauksevich gave me an incredible haircut last week. My time with him was pleasant, intelligent, and an overall incredible salon experience. I later had the color of my hair adjusted with one of his colorists, and that proved to be equally as impressive. I am new to Boston and recovering from a year of bad highlighting jobs in Seattle. Because of my previous experiences with very bad low lights... I made an appt with UMI for just a root touch up of my blonde highlights. I expressed all my concerns (and repeated most all again) with the stylist and thought we were on the same page. I was wrong! I went in with a head of blonde highlights and came out with brown, ashy, green hair! And what really made me cry, (literally, down Newbury Street) was that I went in thinking I was getting a $100 touch up job (according to their web site)... I was floored when they said I owed them close to $300!!!! I think what the decent thing for the salon to do (for their new clients) is to, as they are racking up the charges with high lights and green lights and toner and conditioner and god only knows what else... prepare the client for what the damage (and again, I mean that literally) is going to cost.

I'm in Boston frequently, and have had haircuts at Umi Salon twice. The first time I was not happy, but thought I had not communicated very well. So I tried again, this time, I am sure I was either ignored or they just are not very well trained. My take? They have tons of hype and glitz but no substance. They aren't any better than the average salon, where all are trained in the #1, #2, #3 haircuts. If what you request is closest to the #2 going haircut of the year, then that's what you'll get (for close to $200.!!!). And if you dare to express disappointment, you'll get the attitude that these others have described. It's as though they think they are celebrities or something. Something here reminds me of the story of the "Emporer's New Clothes". "The Umi Haircut". Like I said, AVOID.

I met Jeffrey at his salon Umi and had my hair cut with him. He was a pleasure to meet, but very tough to get to know. He is clearly a very, very brilliant hairstylist, able to answer any question or explain every detail of his ideas, but I wish he were more open with me as a new customer. My haircut is flawless and beautiful, winning rave reviews from everyone. Hey Jeffrey, open up a little more- share more of that intelligence with us!

You deserve to have been charged! You've been going there for 3 (!) years, and you are trying to come off like you didn't understand Umi's cancellation policy? Or that it somehow should not have to apply to you?

Umi Salon is grossly overrated. I got a mediocre haircut and had to deal with a lot of attitude. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude, and acted as if it was my privilege to be there. I was completely turned off and cannot believe this place was so overrated. Do not be fooled!

I like classic haircuts with an edge, and thats exactly what I got at my Umi Salon visit. It's just the right length and texture, and my layers have never been so perfect. Something about it is just right.

I thought the salon was very clean and beautiful, and the level of customer care was exactly what I look for in a salon- one of the better salon experiences I've had. Excellent.

after all the amazing reviews, i had to try this place! the people were professional, but just not that talented. my haircut was honestly worth about $20. i'm sure if i went to the owner for the $265 haircut, it would probably be worth more, but i went to the 'next most talented' in his absence, and i was just not impressed.

I needed my color repaired so I visited Umi Salon, having heared so much about it. They do an excellent job at understanding what you want, spending a lot of time explaining what you need to know, and they are very patient to make sure the result is exactly right. I got my haircut after that, and am very impressed and happy with my new look for fall. It really is picture perfect. I highly recommend them.

Umi is one of the better salons I've been to. It is a very busy salon, but I never felt out of place, and got the best long-hair haircut I've ever had. Wherever I looked, a beautiful hairstyle was being done. Even the music was different and interesting. Very professional and comfortable.

I wanted to Jeffrey, who is very popular, so instead I sat with on of his stylists. She spoke with me for about ten minutes before any cutting began, which surprised me, but I learned alot, and I now understand why my other look was not right for me. I am really happy with my hair, and I enjoyed visiting the salon. It is very clean and modern, and the staff are welcoming and great looking. It is much more expensive than other salons in the area, but I think the overall result was worth it.

I have been going to Umi for over 3 & a half years. My original stylist who I LOVED left- then I started seeing a different stylist who also left. Both stylist were great and I wonder why they left Umi? I recently had an appointment that I missed accidentally. I have always received a call to confirm my appointment prior - this time I did not. I explained to the receptionist how I never received a conformation call and she said they called my work #- but it clearly states on my voice mail that I am out on maternity leave. They had 3 #'s on file for me but, I did not receive a call at home until I missed my appointment- and they charged me for it. I understand that they have a policy in place to charge customers for missed appointments but, I thought being a loyal customer (for over 3 years) who spends a lot of money at their salon would stand for something especially since they never even called to confirm my appointment. Overall the salon is ok- over priced and a very boring white- for the price the services should be better.

Jeffrey Dauksevich is a quiet, brilliant, and unexpectedly funny genius who gave me my first real haircut of my life. I walked into his salon with long hair, and left with long hair (yes!), but it was transformed from a dull, heavy, shapeless nothing into a light, airy, effortlessly beautiful look. I love it, his salon, and him. I highly recommend to those who are serious about having a great stylist.

On the basis of publicity and one good cut with a stylist who has since left the salon, I booked an appointment for a major change/new look. I was assigned to a nice young woman who the receptionist said was good with wavy hair. I put myself in her hands but pointed out that my hair is fine and that layers could be tricky. She gave me a standard '80s layered cut that I could have gotten at any good suburban salon for half the cost. The cut was ill-suited to my hair and it simply sticks out and is very high maintenance. I think the salon's reputation is built on the owner's talent and the raves all seem to be about him. If you want to splurge to have him cut your hair it is probably worth it. Otherwise you may simply get a very expensive haircut. The salon is very quiet on weekdays. Salon staff all pleasant. No attitude. But I didn't find it to be worth the big price tag. And be prepared to be sold expensive Bumble and Bumble products. Good products, but, again, you're paying for hype. Make sure you ask how much before you say OK.

The quality of experience I had at Umi Salon was flawless. Excellent presentation and atmosphere, chic surroundings, great service, and perfectly beautiful hair. The approach is more innovative and personal than what I've experienced elsewhere, and the stylists are smart and professional.

I'd been wanting a good hairstylist for a long time, and recently discovered Umi. I've had long, one length curly hair forever, and no stylist has ever really done anything with it. I took the plunge and sat with Jeffrey, who owns Umi.

It was the most I've ever spent on a haircut, and I honestly must tell all that after spending an hour with him sculpting, smoothing, and transforming my hair into a beautiful look, I feel I can't afford not to see him again. He is an absolute master at what he does, and his quiet focus on you is absolutely mesmerizing. I loved his salon, and, obviously, him.

Umi is one of the best salon's in all of Boston. Featuring the latest techniques in cuts and color- you are almost guaranteed a style that will work for you if you go here. The only downside is the price- it's upwards of $100 for just a cut before adding any additional services.

Disaster is all I can say. From the minute i walked the front desk gave me attitude, my stylist gave me attitude insisted i needed a full highlight when all i wanted was a partial, started putting foils in the back and when i asked what he was doing he told me not to worry hes the professional.....ya so proffessional he went against what i wanted gave me a full and charged me an arm & a leg. REAL PROFFESIONAL!!! Word of advice to umi...listen to your clients, and maybe youll be able to keep some.

This salon is exceptional in so many ways- the service level is above and beyond, the haircuts are eye cathing and exciting- but what I found profoundly different was the feeling of the salon- the attention to every detail and the attitudes of the staff were impressive. After much research, I decided to schedule an appointment at Umi. I was grey, with a lot of damage from a bad permanent, and my haircut was grown out. This salon is not just expensive, it is quite simply OVER-PRICED. $90 for a cut with a junior stylist? I would advise all prospective clients to look elsewhere. If you're going to pay $90 for a haircut you might as well go to New York where you'll get something truly unique- I walked out of Umi looking like a sitcom actress. On top of all that, why deal with a rude receptionist who treats you as if you're doing HER a disservice by being there? This place has disappointed me one too many times.

I have thick bushy hair and I have never been able to get a stylish cut. I decided to try Umi and I am so glad I did. They cut my hair in layers and somehow it lays down perfectly! They are very expensive but it was so worth it to me. I might see if I can go to a cheaper salon just for trims and go to Umi when I want a different style. It did take about three weeks for me to get an appointment.

I went to Umi Salon to get my highlights done. My stylist (the owner) spent a lot of time explaining color options for me that were not what I considered radically different from what I had, but once it was done, it was dramatically improved. It is absolutely beautiful. I hadn't intended on getting my hair cut, but decided to do that as well, and that turned out to be a beautiful transformation, too. The entire experience was very calm but exciting. The minimalist studio look of the salon combined with the intensity of the owner's reserved vibe and artistic mind is a powerful combination that produces what I am today- a very pleased customer.

$352 - I booked a full highlight and when at the salon added a cut. Beth with consult with the owner did a great highlight and toned the between the foils hair. I actually gasped when the receptionist told me that will be $352 - I was charged for a full highlight, a full color and a cut. Apparently I have two heads - when I complained - I was told the charge could not be backed out of the computer (ridiculous) and that I would have to call the salon manager on Monday, which I did. She called me back today, Friday, and said I got what I paid for. WOW - customer retention apparently not an issue. Beth is great. Salon - not so much. I would highly recommend that you ask exactly what services you are receiving and how much they will cost.

I am totally disgusted with Umi. They rushed my foil and haircut. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted and left me looking like a freak. I decided to try UMI after reading so many great reviews on Citysearch and seeing the consistent high ratings they have received. The receptionist booked my appt. with Liz, and she did an amazing job. She really took the time and care to give me a complete haircut. There was nothing I wanted to fix when I got home, and that's a first! She understood what I wanted, and was an absolute pleasure.
I will definitely go back to Liz. Worth every penny! Salon was very classy, but not stuffy.

For my hair washing, my whole face was wet, some of my make up smudged. My friends recommend I try this place out because it has rave reviews. I looked around the salon and noticed why. Most of the clients were telling the stylist what to do. The girl next to me was like a Hitler. She didn't have a pretty face and insisted that the stylist cut her hair so she'd look like Halle Berry. She left the salon looking like a boy. Way too pleasing! I want honest feed back if a style does not look good especially when I am paying an arm, a leg and a left breast for a hair cut!
$200 for bad hair washing, and no suggestions on what is good or bad for my facial features. And finally no friendly conversation because the girl just assumed I didn't speak english.

What I find so interesting about Umi is no matter what direction you look in, all the work looks so good, and there is an indescribable vibe- you just know you're in the right place. There are lots of nice, subtle touches, and a really helpful desk staff. I was with Liz, who gave me the most beautiful highlights I've ever had. She's cool and smart, and talented with long hair.

If I were going to cut my hair short, I would DEFINITELY go to the owner, who was cutting next to us. He did the most beautiful short cut I've ever seen when I was there. (he's a babe, too! ;)

I had an exceptional experience at Umi with John Porter. I have long hair, and always seem to get the same treatment at salons, but not here. i was lucky to get a appt. with helen. the best color i have ever had. my cut with lisa was excelent. lisa i think you are the best. AS FOR THE REST the "asst." who washed my hair was sloppy and it showed in her appearience not only did she soak me she got color in my ears and thought it was a joke. the rest of the staff all acted like they where better than anyone else. umi was like a cult. the owner not friendly. the staff in the front to bussy with there e-bay to help you. i would pay lisa and helen to fly to new york and any amount of money to do my hair but i will never go back to umi. I have my hair cut by Shirley and I can honestly say she has given me a cut like no one before. FINALLY, a stylist has been able to work with my natural texture and teach ME how to work with it too. I've been to numerous salons on Boston's Newbury Street, and many salons off Newbury, and this experience was one of the best I have ever had. Very attentive service, restful atmosphere, and looking around, everyone else looked to have awesome cuts and color being done.

***Update:*** I am STILL going to Umi and the service is still wonderful. Every stylist I have been to has shown the utmost patience and care when dealing with my very thick and hard to handle hair. The only bad point is one of the receptionists during the day, who is very rude and acts like you are wasting her time when you try to figure out a good time - especially if one works during the day - a concept she did not seem to understand.

I just had my hair cut by Jeffrey, which was absolutely amazing. Although it took a long time to get in with him, it was worth every moment of waiting. He is quiet, intense, and an incredible talent. You won't get the usual conversation with him, so save the cliche lines for someone else- he is passionate and attractive beyond belief- this reluctant star is a refreshing departure from the usual nonsense.

You know that feeling when you want a really good style, like you see in a magazine, and you go to a salon for it and what ends up happening is something else? Something average something that looks like some variation of the style you want to get away from? Its as if a stylist didnt even hear you or get it? Or just cant do it?

Well, Umi is the only salon in Boston Ive been to where the styles are really good, and it looks like what you see in magazines. I was impressed, to say the least. And, they are really good at explaining how to get different looks from your haircut. Intelligent!

The colorist, Helen, is the absolute best; what a gem. I travel extensively in the US and Europe and always come back to her. Umi charges a fortune for coloring services. The client is not allowed to dry her/his own hair & must pay for a decent drying in addition to the coloring fee. The 'free' drying is a disaster and a terrible advertisement for the salon. All other salons in the US & Europe provide excellent styling as a part of the coloring & cutting services. Umi's policy is ridicules.

This is the place to go if you want shiny, natural looking, healthy color. The owner got involved with the consultation, which I found totally exciting (he's wonderfully magnetic), because he was the first person to explain to me how color actually works, and I learned why I have had so many disappointing experiences in the past my stylist Beth was great, very cool and knowledgeable, and I loved the way I looked when I left (perfect blowdry work). I will definitely get my haircut there; hopefully, I can get an appointment with Jeffrey:)

Everything is great about this salon...except...I agree with the previous reviewer...the receptionist is very rude..she acts like she is totally uninterested in doing her job and when you call over the phone she acts like she is in a big hurry and is very rude. Newbury Street has become a runway for anyone with a pair of scissors, a blow dryer, and an attitude. Not the case with the group at Umi. I was so impressed with the level of service and quality of work done by the stylists that I felt that I must share it with other Citysearch readers, as this was how I found Umi. My compliments to Jeffrey, the owner, who is an absolute gentleman, and a fabulous leader, as can be seen through the way staff interacts with him, as well as the way he makes everyone in the salon feel welcome and at home. I am happy to recommend this not only as a great salon, but also as a model for all businesses to admire.

If you can look passed the rude receptionists, the stylist John, at UMI, was worth going to. He did a wonderful job on my hair style for my wedding.

The prices on their web site are incorrect. You need to call and verify prices before you make an appoitment.

The stylists and receptionists do not know the first thing about customer services, because none of them care if you are repeat business/repeat customer. It is too bad because John has quite a bit to offer.

Having heard of her over and over,I finally found her at Umi,and all the accolades are true,she's no nonsense and skilled.I felt she really listened to me. No "Newbury street" attitude here,I got what I wanted and also got educated about what I have been trying to explain to countless other stylists for years!!! My hair has been a problem to most colorists,but she told me why and I felt I could trust her.She also told me after not to hesitate to call if there is any problems!!!! Who does that??? There also seemed to be a relaxed ,fun attitude among her and her co workers which takes the edge off. I'm definately going back, Helen is cool!!!

Amazing 1st time experience. The interior is beautiful-pristine white, laid-back, clean & refreshing. The staff was very accomodating, fitting me into their schedule even though I didn't have an appointment! While washing my hair, they surprised me w/ a small head massage and when I walked back to my hairdresser, a stand w/ a magazine & lemon-flavored sanpellegrino had been set before me. My hairdresser Beth was also excellent-very meticulous, very attentive to my needs & yet very relaxed. I was really impressed by how "in sync" we were-it was as if she could read my mind during the entire experience-she knew just when to explain what she was doing and when to ask me for my opinion. She worked on my hair until she KNEW that I was completely satisfied. I will definitely be back again-thanks so much again Beth! I love this haircut!

This salon has something really special going for it. The feeling of the place is so right, not like other salons. It's this big open studio where really cool things happen, and the stylists and clients mix and interact with ease. The way they approach doing hair is SO cool... they make it an interesting subject, and that is something I've never experienced before. I made a point to express this to Jeffrey, the owner, and instead of having a big ego about it, like all owners seem to, he smiled, went on to talk about his admiration for the stylists and their talents, and thanked me generously. Umi salon is average to below average.

There were so many postive reviews about this salon posted that i decided to try umi salon for myself having moved recently from NYC where as a manhattanite I used city search as often as everyone else to review establishments.

A stylist turned my blond tresses GREY! having had my hair highlighted for 15 years this was just unbelievable, worse off she did not see a problem with it! Then proceeded to tell me "well, I dont think I can make you happy". WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would be happy with grey hair!!

I was VERY dissapointed--all should proceed with caution.

I always have a great experience at Umi. I go to Jeffrey for haircuts, and have seen other stylists for color and trims when I can't get in with Jeffrey, and it's always great. It's buzzing, cool, and free of all the usual nonsense; I always feel like I'm in the right place. There is always something new happening there. I am a true fan.

I've been to Jeffrey Dauksevich recently. I never realized how exciting getting my hair cut could be. I felt so confident, and so comfortable- he is a perfect gentleman and an incredible hairdresser.

not only was my experience from beginning to end just amazing - truly the best i've had, but i've never had such a great cut. all the stylists are incredibly talented and surprisingly welcoming, which is not what you'd expect when visiting this chic lower newbury locale. the receptionists are all so friendly and helpful. totally sophisticated and hip. i have appointments every couple of weeks and so should you.

Like everyone else in Boston, I have been to a ton of the salons on newbury street. After to going to Umi salon I finally feel like my search is over. My stylist listened to everything that I had to say and gave me excactly what I wanted. It was nice to find a place with a cool interior and a young friendly staff. I definitely recommend this salon to others!

I have been a customer at Umi Salon for nearly a year now and have nothing but good things to say about the place. I have had 3 different stylists cut my hair. They have helped me get the right product for my hair which has made all the difference in the world. I have naturally curly hair.There is a girl there named Beth who washes hair that gives a phenominal head massage while shampoing your hair. A stylist named Marguerite has cut and colored my hair the past 3 months and I have been extremely happy with her professionlism and skill. I recommend UMI highly. It is a bit pricey but well worth it.

Umi is one of the best indoor atmospheres in the city of Boston. With its white yet shapely interior, and beautiful, fresh-feeling light, Umi treats its clients to relaxtion and incredible talent. Marguerite did my hair at Umi. She was really interested in me, and completely obeyed every wish i had for my final hairstyle. After years of searching for a stylist who could listen to me and really end up with the results i want, having Marguerite cut my hair was a huge breath of fresh air. She gave me a sexy mod hair cut that i had always requested but never got. I even brought my very hard-to-please boyfriend in to have Marguerite cut it, and now he loves his hair.
