Laughing-your-butt-off funny!

by Lisa G.

Dick's Beantown Comedy Vault is a small club on Boylston St. in Boston. I'd say it only seats about 60 or 70 people but it's great because the whole audience gets to be close to the stage.

I've been there a few times and the comedians have always been funny and the crowd has always been very pleasant.

Parking can be rough in the area but there are a few garages very close by.

This was a very special night out and we will be back

by Tom S.

Good food, Great Show, Comfortable & Fun Decor, and very friendly staff. Right across from the Boylston T-Stop on the Green line it was easy to get to. Most of all the prices were reasonable prices and these days that is very important.

What a great treat in every way

by Jessie S.

From the minute we sat down to dinner in the Restaurant we were made to feel welcome. Will we had dinner the saved us choice seats because we were there early. The comics were a riot. The women who greeted us at the door was also the host and although not a comedian she was a riot and a lot of fun. The age of the audience was very spit but everyone was have a ball. We recommend this place highly and will be back.

Group Nite Out

by smorris3

My husband and I recently went out with 3 other couples for dinner and a show at the Comedy Vault and we had a blast. We saw a show headlined by Doherty himself with a few other comedians. Everyone in our group was roaring, and fortunately he even picked on my husband (haha). A little fancier of a dinner before the show would have been nicer, but i would def do this again.

Pros: Fit large group in small place

Cons: only pub food, tight fit for people walking by tables

Good Time

by jagrande

I recently attended Beantown Comedy for the second time in my life and I had a great time. I went on a wednesday night when Paul Nardizzi was performing. I couldn't believe how packed the place was for a weekday night. He was extremely funny and the smaller acts before him still had me laughing. At $12 to get in, it was worth every dollar. Its great to know there is a place offering quality shows 7 nights a week. I was even impressed with the food, though I wish there was more than just appetizers available during the show, as dinner must be eaten upstairs before the show.

Pros: Good Location, Good Acts, Restaurant Upstairs

Cons: Couldn't eat full meal in club, had to eat upstairs

It doesn't get any better than this. A great night out with friends.

by DonaldMurphy

This place is special. We have gone with friends many times and have never been less than thrilled. The club is small and intimate with cartoon walls with a huge safe door as background for comedy, hence the name.
Pub food dinners upstairs before show were good, plentiful and reasonable in price. The comics are great , the service friendly, the appetizers in show room are great to. Can you tell we love this place.Dick's wife Kathy is the hostess and boy does she make you feel welcome.

Good show. Funny acts.

by jenniferfarrell44

Some friends and I went to a comedy show at the Comedy Vault a couple weeks ago on a Friday night and I really enjoyed the show. The comedians were very funny and the crowd was very involved in the show. The only problem was that the waitress was a bit slow getting our drinks, but she was very friendly so we didn't mind. I'll definetly be going back to this club; it seems like a great way to wind down after a long week at work.

Very funny show

by AndySams

I went to The Comedy Vault a couple weeks ago on a Monday night to see Kevin Knox (my boyfriend and I had heard good things about him from a few friends of ours who had seen him).
The show was great! All of the comedians were very funny. It was a great way to end a long, hard Monday.
The show was inexpensive, the food was good and the drinks were cold.
We will definetly be going back very soon and I would recommend the club to anyone.

Pros: Funny comedians and good food

Cons: Parking

Great Comedy on a Wednesday Night

by UncommonMan

My girlfriend and I went to the Vault on last Wednesday night. We had never been there before. There was a good size crowd (2/3 full) and 8 comedians. I thought this was pretty good for a week night. We had a great time and laughed all night. We will definitely go back again.

Pros: The place is small so you're close to the comedians

Cons: You're close to the comedians

Love the Sunday open mike

by funkysamsam

I've been to the open mike night on Sunday night a few times and I always enjoy it. The comedians are different every week and despite a few boring beginners, most are really funny! There are always profesionals doing spots on the show as well. It's a great way to spend a Sunday night before going back to work on Monday.

Always a good time

by AnthonyCorey

I've been to this club several times on weekends, but last week i decided to go during the week on a tuesday(its open evry day now) and it was just as good as a Fri & Sat show and it only cost 12 bucks! I actually saw about 5 comedians i think. and they were all very funny. Me and my girlfriend had a goodtime at the show and also enjoyed the pizza special at the restaurant as well. I would definately reccomemend this place for anyone lookin for a good time for a resonable price. =)

Pros: good prices. very funny

A very fun time!

by Funkybaker25

I really enjoy seeing the comedy shows at The Comedy Vault. I was hesitant before I first went to the club because I assumed that all of the comedians on the show would be raunchy and rude, but I was pleasantly surprised; the comedians were very funny and I had a great time.
It's a great place for a night out with friends or to spend some quality time with your spouse (away from the kids!)
Funny shows, friendly service and good food.

Pros: Funny comedians and good service

Cons: Usually have to pay for parking in a garage

Always Fun but Now Better than every

by fastsean

we have been going to the Comedy Vault for years and it was always fun and great laughs but in the last 6 months since it went to 7 nights a week it has been unbelievable. Kevin Knox and Doherty himself on One Show another night on a Wed it was Paul Nardizzi, Jim Lauletta Dan Boulger all headliners. I was there one time and Bill Burr dropped in and they tell me that all the major comics are stopping by to say hi these days.

Pros: Great Show, Food, Service, Location and felt like they were glad we came.

Great shows!

by robertsmith1276

I've seen many shows at the Comedy Vault and have loved them all. My favorites are Greg Howell and Kevin Knox but every show is hilarious; and Remingtons has good food and a great bar. My favorite night time hangout when I need a good laugh

Great, inexpensive night out!

by smilindazy22

Wow! This place was great! My husband and friends went to this club last Saturday night. We were really impressed, but mostly with the prices! We love Boston, but it can get expensive. The comedy club is located in the basement at Remingtons, it's pretty small so get there a little early to get a decent seat. The comics were funny (not super professional, but funny), the drinks were great (and the waitress was fast and effiecent) and the tickets were cheap (AD military had 2 for 1 so it was $10, or $20 for everyone else, but coupons are available on line).

They have valet parking for $25 or there are nearby garages for $10. It's also directly across the street from The Commons so for a date night it would be a great segway to a romantic walk. We love the Boston nightlife but this was a great, inexpensive change of scenery. They also have great 'bar' food if anyone wants to eat before of after, and again, super inexpensive!

A great alternative for a bachelor/ette or birthday get together as well! Beware, there's lots of 'adult language' etc so this is absolutley and ADULT only show!

Pros: Cheap, great change of scenery, great location

Cons: A little run down

I went to a show at the Comedy Vault on a Wednesday night and it only cost $12 and I got a discount coupon off CitySearch. The show was hilarious and the food was great. Their buffalo chicken tenders were awesome! The Comedy Vault is a great place if you're looking for a good time. (Great club to take a date or have a night out with friends)

A unique comedy experience

by CelticsFan78

The Comedy Vault is a perfect venue for a night out with friends. The comedians are top notch, and it's a great place to catch up and coming talent. The last night I went, there was an improv troupe that performed a set, which was hilarious. It was the first time I had seen improv comedy, which is a totally different type experience from watching stand up (very interactive and off the cuff). It added a lot of variety to the show.

This might not be the place to bring your conservative parents or super uptight friends. The stand up can get a little blue, and the improv troupe has some audience participation. However, for everyone else, it's a ton of fun.

Pros: Very intimate space

Cons: Food very basic

Inconsistently Funny Comedians, I left offended, bad service

by JoeyHoe

I attended a Saturday night show at The Vault at Remingtons hoping for a good lineup of local comedians, and it did not even come close to being worth the money. Nothing wrong with Remingtons or the Service. The comedy was inconsistently funny for a Saturday night. Several of the comedians were offensive and very, very dirty. Not worth the ticket price, though people call it an institution.

Pros: Good bar food, good service, good beer selection

Cons: Bad comedy show, Bad language, high prices

Good Stuff

by irishdan2001

Stopped in for the sunday night open mike downstairs. Small setting which means you're close to the stage and your beers come quickly. Comedians from varied walks of life made for a good range of material for different types of crowds. I'd say 90% of the acts kept the crowd laughin and I'd recommend catching Jimmy Igoe there if you get the chance.

Great Time, Lots of Laughs!

by Scribbles

I recently went to remington's on amateur night. Had a blast. Some of the comics were very funny, some not so funny but I saw a lot of different comics. The comic Jim Igoe stood out as unique, crazy & very funny.

Pros: Fun Time

Cons: Drinks were pricey

God what fun. Everyone was so funny. Even the waitress was part of the show. Greatest Comedy Club in Boston

by kmorena

I have been to Nicks Comedy Stop and The Comedy Connection many times but never had this much fun. Sometimes a comic or even 2 wood be funny but its like being in a big impersonal hall. The Vault is small and it feel like your at a party with your friends. The food was great. We ate dinner upstairs before the show and it was great and surprisingly cheap. The drinks were great. They had buckets of beer which all the guys loved. The night we were there Doherty himself hosted the show and was very very funny and he made everyone feel like they were welcome and appreciated. I will never go back to the big clubs. I read Dane Cook played there every Friday for over a year straight and I can see why. I recommend it very highly. KM

Pros: Friendly, Funny and Fun

Cons: My side hurt from laughing

Seasoned Headliners, new comers. very clean, a little naughty, slapstick, intelectual, Standup, Sketch, Improv its all there pick I night. Last time we went to Open mike the host was hilarious, some of the new comics really great , some so bad they were funny, but I was all great. Go when Doherty himself is there he is a riot. The food is alway good the prices very resaonable and we have a great time every time we go We have seen Dane Cook, Bill Burr, Steven Wright, and so many others drop in to do a surprise show it's great.

Pros: Small club, Great for seeing comedy,

Cons: The food upstairs was great wish we could have had more than apps. in the showroom.

It was great fun. I almost hurt myself laughing. Even the wait staff was laughing.

by joey1214

This was the best time I have ever had at a comedy club. Some of the comics were unbelievable, some great and some ok, but they were all fun and the audience were really rolling. The club is small and intamate, it's like having Bill Murry in your living room. Two stars from TV dropped in an did a set. I'll be back often. The prices for drinks and food were very resonable for Boston in the Theater District and very good also.

Pros: The attitude of the whole place

Cons: None

Not funny

by silvr

I went to the Vault on a Friday to see sketch comedy and stand up. It wasn't funny at all and pretty much just painful to watch. Only one comedian knew how to work the crowd, and the last comedian ended with "I'm now going home to cry myself to sleep in the fetal position. Goodnight!" which summed up the night pretty well.
The food wasn't bad, but from our seat it was hard to see the stage, and we had to wait 30 minutes to get our change from the bill.

Pros: Food

Cons: Comedians

FUNNY

by bosox04

This is the perfect place to go on a date, the comedy is so funny and out of control that there will be no awkwardness between the two of you ever. This was well worth the money, and the trip. The comedians were absolutely hillarious. I didnt eat any food but what I saw coming out of the kitchen looked great. If you are looking for a fun, fairly inexpensive night def check this place out. I will be returning more than once in the near future.

Pros: Funny, comfortable, inexpensive

Cons: nothing
