Hogan Tire & Auto Svc Ctr is convienient and effiecient
by Car G.
Had some front end work done at Hogan recently. I had a very good experience. There was free coffee and WiFi, so I could work while waiting. Before I knew it the work was done and I was ready to go. Car drives like new. I would recommend them to anyone.

In the interest of full disclosure, I used to be in the business so I know how the tire business works. I recently went to Hogan tire in North Beverly with what I thought was a fast leak. Assuming (I know my fault) they opened at 7:00, I headed down there for a flat repair & that's when things started down the slippery slope of a series of unprofessionalism:
1) I arrived at 7:15 a.m. & saw a gentleman reading the paper in the customer waiting area although the door said they opened at 7:30. I assumed (yes I know my fault) that they let him in early as a courtesy so I opened the door to realize that it was actually the manager (or similar) kicking-back. Now, if there is nothing else to do then good for him but from being in the business I know he could have been opening the bay doors, backing cars out, etc. Also, if it were me, I would have written me up even though it was early but I digress.
2) I was literally the first customer & my car sat for awhile before anyone drove it in with no real good reason as to why.
3) Someone came-in with a TPMS issue, which they were told "that guy doesn't come-in until 10:00". I can see there being a "TPMS expert" but if you're working at a tire shop, everyone should know TPMS. It's been standard on every vehicle since '08 & on many other for years!
4) This is the kicker. An older woman came-in because her car failed inspection & she was griping that the inspector was too tough (incidentally, I don;t think there is such thing) to which the manager actually agreed & disparaged the guy with the woman. Then the woman leaves & he hands the ticket over to a tech & literally says "this woman is a pain in the ass". I couldn't believe he said that in earshot of customers.
5) The tech finishes my car but can't find anything wrong. The Manager asks him "did you actually do anything?" to which the tech replies "no". So, I hear all of this & wonder what my bill is going to be since nothing was repaired. Luckily for them, it was $0 which is the bright spot in this review. They were unprofessional to a level I have never seen but not dishonest.
Unfortunately, tire shops are mostly bad (I would know from experience) & I have experience with Direct Tire in Peabody, Firestone & NTB in Danvers. None of these guys were good either. Town Fair has probably the worst rep (never spent any $ with them even though I tried to but they screwed it up all by themselves) so I'm trying Goodyear in Salem based on my previous good experience with them in another location.
