My husband and I are ocean lovers and gourmands., trying new restaurants each day of vacation. Ocean City is the closest access we have to the sea and we go as often as possible. I usually do not write reviews, but could not let the ones I saw on this restaurant stand without correcting the image portrayed. We ate at the Embers for the first time in 2009. Wow. IT IS THE BEST restaurant in town!! We had only a few days to vacation and ate there twice. We come from an area known for it's buffets. This out shown them all, hands down. The snow crab legs were fresh and plentiful, the chicken was perfect, and the prime rib---well, I usually don't eat the stuff, too fatty or bloody, this was perfect and sliced to order. There were fish and shrimp choices from baked and fried to salads and fresh. The salad and vegetables were many and kept fresh. The second time we went, we were a little late and caught the tail end of serving. The buffet was still filled and neat. The attendants were friendly and efficient (even in the face of bad customers-took it all in stride and did not get rude.). They politely informed customers when the buffet would close and offered to bring them items of their choosing, before the buffet was closed. It is a great place to eat, try it the next time you visit Ocean City.

My family has been going to Ocean City for years and I usually avoid buffets due to the lack of freshness and quality of food; the food is always pre-fab NOT homemade. We took friends to Ocean City for their first time; they are big on buffets and were told by friends they must go to Embers! I was finally talked into going when we found out all week they were offering the buffet for only $19.99; I figured for that kind of money I??ll stick to the fresh cut prime rib and crab legs. As expected the sauces seemed pre-fabed and all the fish was over cooked and dry (you can??t serve over cooked tuna and salmon); the clams were literally filthy sitting in a muck of sand! The fried shrimp seemed out of a box (had better from Mrs. Paul). Well, as planned I mostly stuck with the prime rib and crab legs and would have given 2 stars for that and the service being very good. BUT, within an hour of eating I got very ill for about 12 hours (major stomach issues). Even if I didn??t get sick I would NEVER pay full price for the substandard food. For $30 you can get an exceptionally good meal at any O.C. better restaurant.

I have been here before in previous years and it was pretty good but my recent experience was absolutely BAD!!
The food tasted old, the "prime rib" was just dried out roast beef, lacking in taste. The crab legs were completely watery and wouldn't even come out of the shell, the steamed shrimp had absolutely no flavor what so ever, and the selection of other food was not good either. They charge $30 something dollars for the buffet plus and it was terrible, I will never go back and I strongly recommend that you spend your money somewhere else. My husband and I spent about $70.00 (including our soda's and tax) and it was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. The only good thing I can say about it was that the service was great. Avoid this place it is a waste of money and the food is not good!!

I went to the Embers expecting a fantastic buffet, instead I ended up with old dry food. Almost everything on their buffet seemed like it have been sitting out for hours. I tried their carved roast beef dipped in au jus, it was a huge disappointment, no taste and extremely dry, couldn't even finish it. When it came to dessert time, our group tried literally everything on the dessert bar and the only thing that was edible was their chocolate chip cookie. On top of the bad food, my brother was burnt by their hot butter dispenser. The butter was so hot when it came out it melted the plastic cup and butter went all over his hand. There were no caution hot signs or anything. When we questioned the manager all she had to say was someone earlier had complained it was too cold so they turned the heat up. She gave him some burn cream and that was that. I had heard so many good things about this restaurant and usually I give these places the benefit of the doubt and will go back, but not here, not at $30 a person. Totally not worth the money at all.

There was a time this was my favorite place. This year I thought the food was a little lacking. Still good but not as good as it used to be. The oysters were slimy also, not good for raw bar.

The Embers restaurant is known is Ocean City as one of the many all-you-can-eat restaurants with seafood on the buffet. While I cannot say I have eaten most things that are offered, the best item on the buffet, the crab legs, are hot and plentiful. There is raw bar for those who wish to eat clams and oysters and a great selection of fish dishes. The fresh bread is great too, but tremendously filling. The buffet costs nearly $30 per person, so come prepared with an empty stomach.

PROS: crab legs
CONS:
