We have been going to New Market Animal Hospital for 5 years. Dr. Furie is the kindest, most compassionate vet I've ever met, and more importantly, she knows what she is doing! Whether it's been treating our dog for hot spots, treating our cats for kidney failure, or anything in between, we trust Dr. Furie. When we have had to euthanize our beloved cats, Dr. Furie has cried along with me as she has gently administered the injection. More recently she has helped me with one of our cats who is a little "psycho" and in need of mental intervention. She is a wonderful vet and wonderful person who truly loves animals. We have also worked recently with Dr. Chand and have been extremely impressed with his dedication and personal attention to our animals-- he is another great vet!
I cannot believe the comments that have been posted about Dr. Rawls! The doctor that is being described is NOT the same Dr. Rawls that I know, she is the most compassionate, caring vet I have ever had contact with. Our family has been going to the New Market Animal Hospital for years and we have only received only the best of care for all of our animals. At NO time has Dr. Rawls ever been rude to us, she has always been professional yet a very caring veterinarian. Dr. Rawls had a client that brought their dog into the hopital when it was injured in a car accident, and then abandoned it because they could not afford the bill. The doctor took care of that dog at her own expense until she was able to place him in a good home, my home, what a blessing "Fletcher" was to us! I will say it again she is the most loving, caring, compassionate veterinarian that we have had the pleasure to work with. I am indeed upset with the negative comments posted about her because her and her entire staff are the BEST! Not everything that is written is the truth, check her out you will love her as our family does! BTW thanks for taking care of Shadrack this morning.

BEWARE..Linda Rawls is the rudest vet I have ever met. I dropped off my dogs to be spayed by Dr Chand ( Who I made the appts with)and Rawls was at the counter I told her my dog had bad knees she snapped "WE ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING TO THE KNEES." then she ask me how many dogs I had when I told her she snapped," WHY".Then I was asked if they bite. She said she "was spaying not running a RODEO". Then she said they were over weight and snapped TOO LATE THEY ARE FAT. Then the tech ask her to come look at my 16 month old brindle chihuahua because she was swollen, she was in the next room with a cat she said" i have already given this cat 1 cc you would think that would be enough but obviously not." Then she looked at my dog and said "yes she IS SWOLLEN,IF SHES SWOLLEN ON THE OUTSIDE THEN SHES SWOLLEN ON THE INSIDE, IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!" Then I put my dog in the crate, she snapped "YOU BETTER TAKE YOUR BLANKET IF YOU EVER WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN!" I left there and called my husband and U2SA and told them at 845 am that I was scared for my dogs because she was not NICE at all and that I hope it was just a BAD first impression BUT IT WAS NOT!!!.Not at all surprised when the phone rang at 11:26 am Dr LINDA RAWLS said "I have BAD news your Chihuahua didnt make it! She must have went into CARDIAC ARREST after surgery it happens 1 in 5000 spays!!!" and was NOT AT ALL SYMPATHETIC about it.After picking up my DEAD brindle chihuahua(whom had an incision over 3" long on her stomach?!) and the two others(incisions were less than an inch long). It was obvious they were given too much anesthesia because the two that DID survive threw up ALL NIGHT! I have had 7 other dogs spayed in my lifetime NONE of which died or THREW UP!! How does she still have her license ?. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET do not take them there!!! SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!! I was referred there by U2SA and I was told it was under new ownership but SHE IS STILL THERE! !!!!!!RED ALERT BEWARE!!!!! go else where unless you want to BURY your pet!!! I am awaiting the results of the autopsy and letting everyone know about my HORRIFFIC experience at NEW MARKET ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!! I can't bring my dog back but I will try my best to SAVE others!!
I have seen Dr. Chand at Carroll County ER clinic for sudden onset of respiratory distress in my dog name Bear. He was struggling to breath. Dr. Chand treated him, brought him back to life. He answered all my questions and treated my boy with affection. He was diagnosed with Laryngeal paralysis. He has been absolutely wonderful. His professional knowledge is phenomenal. He is very quick to point out what procedures are unnecessary or how we might budget various treatments. He sent me home with a detailed plan for managing his condition medically, keeping in view he is 12 years as I did not want surgery. He is still doing great and have no complications so far. I will continue to see Dr. Chand at his new practice in New Market Animal Hospital. Dr. Chand was one who saved my boy.
Absolutely wonderful vet clinic/hospital with a staff that expresses true concern and compassion. The prices are also the best I have found in the area and they are very willing to work with you for payment options. I cannot say enough good things about this practice. It is well worth the short drive from Frederick.

I had to take my chihuahua to New Market Animal Hospital because his regular vet wouldn't accept a POP voucher. Not only did New Market accept the voucher they didn't charge anything extra...not even an exam charge, anesthesia...only the $65 that it cost for the voucher. They even gave a complimentary pedicure. Dr. Rawls is awesome as well as all the staff there. I will be going there from now on.
I am so impressed and happy with the treatment that my cats have received since I switched vets. Dr. Furie is amazing and has a way of dealing with my very difficult cat. Her love of animals really shows and she never minds answering any concerns that I might have. She has gone above and beyond to help me sort out the problem that I was having and I will be eternally grateful. The staff are always so nice and pleasant and willing to help. It really feels like a family veterinary hospital. I am so glad that I changed.
I have used Dr. Rawls and I think she is great and all the staff too. I get a small amount of disabily and I have trouble paying sometimes and she has been very kind to me and my aminals. She have given care to my cats when money is tight she alway treats me and my cats great respect. She is a great vet .Thank you Dr. Rawls for all you help !!!! With great respect to you and your staff thank you.
Recently, my dear little Shih-Tzu was diagnosed with heart failure. When I took her to a Cardiologist for an ultrasound, she was terrified. She squirmed and shook through most of the process, even though I was present and this is a very non-invasive procedure. A few days later, I took her for her X-Ray at the New Market Animal Hospital, where Dr. Furie had to take her (alone) for the procedure. It was amazing! Chloe (very spoiled, I might add) went right with her and didn't even make a peep! Dr. Furie had to make two plates, so she had to give her back to me for a few minutes. When it came time for the second X-Ray, Chloe again went willingly with her and even wagged her tail!. All I can say is we must have a Dog Whisperer right here in New Market, MD! Kathy P.??
My husband found a kitten and his little eye was bulging from his head. I called both of my regular vets and nobody would help him because I couldn't afford to pay upfront. I took him to the Animal Control shelter and was treated like a criminal (I even adopted my dog there!). I go the name of Dr Furie and gave them a call expecting the worst. They offered to see him within 2 hours and the price was very reasonable. A few weeks later, the kitten passed away because of other, unrelated problems. After receiving the report from the emergency vet, Dr Furie called right away. I received a card two days later. Dr Furie did all she could do for the kitten and went above and beyond a typical vet. From now on, I will travel the extra miles just to see her. Dr Furie impressed me because she spent the extra time to clean the kitten up and fight through the horrible odor to help him.
On Tuesday 2/23/10 we took my Dad's beloved friend and companion Badness to Dr. Fury. We had to make appt. to have him put to sleep due that he was so ill from kidney failure. She was wonderful and understanding and did and outstanding job that was difficult in a very compassionate way. I would recommend New Market Vet Clinic to anyone. They are not only well educated but very caring and always have a smile. They are never in a hurry and always make the time to see your pet no matter what. Again, I want to thank Dr. Fury for her help during this difficult time. She is one of kind.
This has truly been one of the best vets I have ever been too!
The whole team has been very gracious and loving towards my animals.
I just recently had to put one of my babies down and the whole team stayed over to comfort not only my dog but my family as well.
I even received a sympathy card signed by the staff afterwards.
I would definitely recommend them to everyone.
They have been helping my family for 11 years with my two rescued doggies.

I live right across the street from New Market Animal Hospital. My pup became incredibly sick making crying noises like he was trying to vomit something up. Seeing as how it was snowing, and his poor condition, I chose to take him to the closet vet (New Market) rather than my own. That was the BIGGEST mistake I could have made! I took him into the vet, and Dr. Rawls saw him. She took him out of the room for an xray as soon as I got there. She told me he had a forgein object in his stomach and sent me home with some throat lubricate and said to bring him back in the morning if he was still acting like he was going to vomit. After paying an arm and a leg for services, I ended up at Frederick Emergency Vet that evening. My dog had pancreatitis so horrible, they couldn't even perform emergency surgery on him until he had been treated putting him at severe danger for losing his life. I contacted New Market the following morning to let them know what had happened and to get records faxed over. Come to find out, none of his stats were ever taken! She never took his temperature to see if he had a fever, never took his heart rate or anything. Seeing as how she did see a foregin object in his stomach and being a tiny dog, she would have at least done so, and even performed blood work. After numerous phone calls to Dr. Rawls, she finally returned mine saying she was sorry for the delay, that she couldn't think of the right words to say to me. If I hadn't made the decision to take my dog to the Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital they said he would have been dead by morning. I absolutely DO NOT recommend EVER taking an animal to this practice! Dr. Rawls has no heart whatsoever and should not be practicing veterinary medicine!

I took my cat to see Dr. Rawls and when she went to give him his shots he hissed at her. She got mad, stuck him in an acrylic box, smashed him down with the lid and shoved the needle through the side of it into his skin. He developed a tumor where the shot went. A friend also took her 2 cats there and both of those cats developed tumors from the vaccinations. I don't think this hospital should be in business!

I've had no problems with the staff or Dr. Furie, however I DO with Dr. Rawls. I took my cat in for claw clipping. She got very upset with the cat (what cat likes her claws clipped?). The doctor then smacked my cat - hard - and threw her into the carrier. She told me to go elsewhere for claw clipping. I did go to another vet and the procedure went easily and well.

We just started using Dr. Rawls when we got our new Cane Corso puppy. She was highly recommended for ear cropping & she has done a phenomenal job with our pup. Any time I call with problems or questions she fits him right in & has nothing but great information. I highly recommend this office. The staff is also extremely loving & caring!! Thanks New Market Animal Hospital!!
I'm very appreciative of the no non-sense approach that Dr. Rawls and her staff have. Never pushy and very reasonable. She cares and it shows in her work, not in her cost. I forgot to tell her that the new med she prescribed for my dog, Sandy's, eyes is working and that I'm doing better at making sure to administer it. Thanks for that.
Last Fall, I humanely trapped four or five feral cats and took them to the New Market Animal Hospital to have them tested and spayed/neutered. The vet herself came in early to meet me and to sign in the cats. She also provided a discount for her services to the rescue group who helped pay the cats' medical expenses. She and her staff presented themselves as professional and dedicated.
PROS: Dedicated staff seem to sincerely care about animals.
CONS: None that I can think of.
