I grew up at The Carter School of Dance. I took classes with Terri Taylor since I was 3 years old. She is very patient with the younger girls and makes the older girls strive to be the best we can. i have learned poise, patience, discipline and self-esteem from Miss Terri. Carter is a huge part of my life and even after i have graduated, i still use the things i have learned now. The dance school gives you a sense of community and will remain with your child for the rest of their lives.

I came across this school based on price, their philosophy and the fact that they had several locations and times throughout AAC. My daughter who is 4 years old attended preschool but still had that separation anxiety mode, so I was a little apprehensive at first. The first day, the teacher was very comforting and reassuring to my daughter and the Moms were super nice!!! The only complaint was that I thought the class was way to big for a starter class (15) but the teacher broke the class up which really made a difference. I enjoyed it and so did my daughter..who is no longer shy in the dance class!!!

PROS: Great class for 4 year olds who attends/ed some preschool
CONS: The class size and the recital..a bit hectic

If you are looking for a movement or dance class for your toddler or preschooler, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Most 3 year olds do not have the attention span required for these classes. Upon taking my 3 year old to the first class, the instructor had all of the kids lined up, and went through, "This is first position, this is second position, etc." At the end, she said, "Okay, now show me first position." Not only were the kids in a new environment with new people, but they were expected to remember exactly what she had shown them. She started to get a bit testy when the kids didn't repeat the right move right away. She also didn't have much tolerance for kids that wanted to run around and not stand in line. Some young kids just don't stand still and watch for that long!
