When I first came to Mountain Yoga, I was a bit apprehensive since I did not know anything about the Iyengar method. The feeling left quickly because I was welcomed with open arms. I received personal attention throughout the class, and each class thereafter.
I soon learned that this method of yoga (a form of hatha) embraces the mind, body, and spirit, and focuses on detail which was challenging to me. Using props like belts, chairs, and blocks helped me to learn to focus on body alignment.
I learned a great deal about my body and inner self and felt fantastic after each class..I will be signing up for another session, and plan on building a strong foundation so that I can do more advanced poses. The studio and teachers are top shelf in my book!

I??ve been a student of Mountain Yoga, & owner Terri Hogue, for over 20 years. The focus of the studio is Iyengar Yoga, which emphasizes structural alignment of the body. Props are used to help students access yoga poses that they might not be able to get into, which honors each student??s individuality. I started in my late 20's and will soon be going into my 50's, and the classes have helped me retain flexibility, strength, & provide an oasis of serenity. I appreciate Terri??s long-term commitment to the Pasadena community, allowing us access to yoga in our neighborhood years before it became "mainstream". Her many years of experience shine through. Many thanks for keeping me healthy!

Taught in the Iyengar style, the classes here are suitable for all fitness levels. The intro classes are geared to those who have never done yoga, or who have not excercised in a while. The sessions are progressive, and strength and flexibility increase as the weeks pass. I have been a student @ Mountain Yoga for years. Each session brings new growth as the instructors introduce new ideas or ways to deepen the practice. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in making yoga a part of their lives. A+

I have been a student at the studio for 6 years. The teaching is of the Iyengar style, focusing on alignment and the use of props when necessary. This is not your "gym" yoga. This studio is good for women and men of all ages with all ranges of flexibility. It leaves no one behind. If you want a solid foundation of the poses, while learning the correct alignment principles to avoid injury this studio is for you. Workshops and special classes are offered in Vinyasa, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Kids Yoga and guest teachers visit periodically. Mountain Yoga Studio is an excellent place to learn and practice the art of Yoga!

I took at preview class at Mountain Yoga Studio, and was not at all thrilled with what I experienced. Instead of yoga that flowed from one pose to the next, we were instructed in a pose, went into the pose, and then paused to be instructed in another pose. We stopped at one point to get folding chairs to use as a prop since most of the class would not have been able to stretch in certain poses without them. I asked if that was how the classes always were, and was told it was. It might be good for someone older or someone with no flexibility, but not for the 20 something crowd.
