Gold's Gym in Hagerstown has a terrible manager and does not know how to properly train his employees. When I signed up the guy Alex told me he was going to give me the gym, tanning, and child care all with my membership. He said it would last as long as I had the gym membership. Now Alex is not working there anymore and my child care got expired. and So did my boyfriend's tanning. Which he also got tanning with his membership. We go in there and talk to the manager and he says that, that is why Alex is not working there anymore, because he was not suppost to be doing that stuff with people. (not my problem!) anyways, the manager says its not fair to the other members that we get that, agian (not my problem). I signed up for all three things for a certain price. That was what I was told I was signing up for. Just because he doesn't know how to train his employees correctly, does not mean you can screw members. You can not expire my stuff before my year is even up. I am taking this above the sucky management there! I also have a friend who had a membership there and she injured her knee. She had a doctors note and cancelled her membership. Alex told us when we signed up if you have a doctors note that you can cancel your membership before the year is up without paying the fee. Needless to say, she got a bill in the mail for $300. Gold's gym will screw you over just to get people in there!!! FAKE

When I signed up for my membership the account manager tells me he was going to hook me up without a charging me the initial membership fee...gee thanks? considering that they were running a special...I tried doing zumba at this gym, if you wanna shake your body like a tramp - then this is your place to be. The zumba instructor doesn't know what she's doing and she's too busy running around the room looking at herself dancing "all sexual" to care if you're doing the dance properly. She even thought a great motivation strategy was to tell the entire class that we were going to dip it low, she was gonna make sure everyone was dipping low and if one member messed up that she was going to start the music over and call you out so that EVERYONE knew that you were to "thank". Uhm, ya i pass. The cinema room is always SUPER hot, no matter if they have the fans on or not. The cycles all are missing the straps. They never have towels and the male trainers stare at you're a piece of meat.
What really pissed me off about this place is I called 2 months ago to cancel. I was told it would be taken care of. 2 months later they're still charging me and now saying that I have to come in to give a 30 day notification. When I spoke with the account manager, all he could say was "you contract states a 30 day notification"....when I asked why his staff didn't tell me this....they are only able to inform customers information he provides them. OH!!! so i guess it's not important to tell your staff how to properly inform customers how to cancel the membership. I guess it will never be useful and help prevent problems from happening.
Even better, there is no corporate number to call or email. All phone calls and emails go directly to the location you're a member of. So there is no point in trying to find a higher up to resolve these problems.
If you want to go to a good gym go to South Pointe Gym in Hagerstown. I switched bc I live on the North End now and my friend said she would talk to the account manager for a "hook up" as he was charging her "less" than the monthly fee. The trainers at South Pointe are amazing!!!! they're all qualified and know what they're doing. It's smaller, yes; but the staff is great and you won't get screwed over like they do at Golds Gym.

Not sure what golds gym these folks are going to but this one sucks. From stiffing my bank for monthly charges after I completing my one year membership and giving them a letter to cancel my membership they still jacked my account. It got so bad the bank cut them off. Besides a really bad trained staff of high school children,,,broken equipment,,,leaking roof and not enough weights to serve all it's over sold memberships I wouldn't bring my dog back in there to take a crap on the floor. Which by the way would help with the smell.

They have good equipment and a lot of it. The daycare is cool. There is a lot for the kids to do including a Wii and a big play scape. My children LOVE going. The staff is all very nice and helpful and the price is right. The one and only thing I have to complain about is the cleanliness. It is disgusting! I have been to many gyms in the past and this is by far the dirtiest! Instead of having a disinfecting wipe dispenser or a pile of clean towels and spray to clean the machines they leave one towel for about 10 machines! The same towel gets used over and over to clean the equipment. That is not sanitary at all! The machines are all filthy in places that don't get "wiped down" by them members. I don't think anyone cleans that place besides the members which is pretty sad. I just started tanning there today and I about died when I saw how dirty the stand up (hex) was! There was about an inch of hair, fuzzies and dust built up around the inside of it. Mind you, the fans blow when you are in there! The floor outside of the stand up was sticky and dirty. I am going to complain to management in the morning and if nothing is done about the cleanliness I will be cancelling my membership. :( There just isn't any reason for it.

For those of you that have come on here and have decided to talk trash about this gym, you clearly know dick about anything pertaining to working out. I've been with Golds for years and have been all over the country to different gyms, both Gold's and other gyms. If you're already here, cherish this place, because believe the big sizzle, it could be much, much worse for the money you pay. If you have something bad to say, then please take yourself to planet fitness or the YMCA because your most likely getting in the way of people trying to really workout and change their body and lifestyle. There are a lot of good people at this gym, both members and employees alike, and I've never met a single "meat-head" who wasn't willing to share an exercise method or workout, or help someone who asked them a question.

If you've been here, you all know me. I'm that guy that picks things up and puts things down and when I sign my paperwork, I'm like "bam" and "zap."

Don't disrespect this place or it's people again just because things aren't working out for you and you don't have the respect for yourself to put the work in.

Thank you.

I drive an extra 30 mins to go to the Golds in Htown instead of the one in my own town of Chambersburg. The staff is much friendlier and the day care is much much better. They have more classes, which I like. Except for the one zumba instructor-she's a little on the eh side. But work the extra money and time getting there in comparison with the others.

It's true, golds has some nice equipment but they totally neglect taking care of it. Try leaving something in the gym and go back 3 days later. It will be in the same place. They maybe do tertiary cleaning. But it's pretty gross. I've been a member there for at least 12 years bc it's close to my home I wish they'd take care of it!!!! Gross gross gross

I don't know what Gold's Gym the last review was written about, but it couldn't be the one in Hagerstown MD on Northern Avenue. That gym is filthy, the equipment is sub-par, the people are rude, the trainers don't know what they're talking about and it is full of meat heads......yuck!!! I wouldn't go back there if they were the only club in the entire area - and I'm a fitness junkie

I was a member at Gold's Gym in Hagerstown for about two years and I recently moved out of the area and never realized how spoiled I was.Gold's Gym Hagerstown doesn't even compare to other gyms, even other Gold's! Everything is top of the line. The gym is always kept clean and the staff are are very friendly, something you don't encounter in other places. If you're looking for a gym, this is the right one.

Gold's gym is a great place to work out in Hagerstown, MD. It is very family oriented and much better than the one in Waynesboro, PA. I would suggest traveling the extra miles is worth it. Even with the gas prices rising, I would suggest the Hagerstown gym over the one in Waynesboro.

When looking for a gym i did alot of research and found golds to be the best in the area.I just recently joined and they gave me a no enroolment fee.I was also gave 3 days with a personal trainer which helped alot to show me what machines i need to use and proper use of them .They offer a huge gym with plenty of eqiupment as well as a huge parking lot. They alos have a snack bar as well as baby sitter onsite and tanning beds if the need be.The trainers here are also highly qualified and know there stuff.I love this gym.
