I've been to secure twice, once with my son for an ear infection over a decade ago (he's in college now) and once recently for my finger injury. Both times I saw Dr. Liss. He is great. The staff is incredible. I felt very comfortable coming into the place, and I hate going to the doctor or dentist. Reading the reviews on this site is pretty amusing. The negative reviews all seem to be from people who didn't get their oxycontin...I guess it's not a great place for the Rush Limbaughs of the world.

I've been a secure care customers for many years. They have days where waits are around 10 mins and other days when the waits can be over an hour. All in all it beats going to the ER. I just learned to call ahead to ask how long the wait is. Recently, I needed to get a yellow fever vaccine for traveling and got it taken care of there too.

I'm a nurse, so I'm motivated to write this review since I feel like I have a unique perspective on medical facilities. I've been to both the Gaithersburg and the College Park clinics. I've always received great care, both with and without insurance. The staff and doctors are so Great! I never told them that I am a nurse, but they still treat me wonderfully. The staff has always made me feel comfortable and although in general I don't like doctors, the physicians have been friendly, caring, and thorough.

On my last visit, I caught my thumb in my car door. OW! They x-rayed my thumb and drained the blood from under my finger nail. The doctor was so careful that this didn't even hurt and I left smiling.

Although medical bills are unreasonable in general, I've never had a problem with their charges or billing.

Great competent care!

I can not believe Dr.'s get away with treating poor ol patients so bad!-I wanted to vomit from the way I was treated! Do not go to this facility! I must say that when I read all these bad experiences/reviews before going, I was curious if they had the wrong place! I had been once before & Dr. Moody was soooo nice to me (even though the Dr.today told me that she must of really liked me bc that's very unusual for her to be so nice???-um...weird!). She was the reason I came back. She wasn't there unfortunately but the receptionist insisted there were other good Dr.'s just like her to help me but I was scared bc I remembered all the horror stories I had read about this place. Pshh what took place with a "Dr. Lisp" (I think) (should be called- Dr. DEVIL HORNS), could have come right out of a Saturday Night Live skit! He said he couldnt help me and he didn't know why any Dr. there would . He was one of the most condescending people I have ever met-I told him to stop being so condescending and he got this really creepy smile across his face. I said, "Aren't you the Dr. And IM THE PATIENT? UR SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONAL! I tried to give him many options & outs to apologize but it was clear he was just getting off on causing me to be so upset. So I told him he better not charge me a cent for this type of patient/Dr. abuse and I grabbed my stuff & RAN AS FAST I COULD OUT OF THAT NUTHOUSE! Do not go here , even if your desperate ! Believe what everyone on here is saying. If you must, make sure Dr. Moody is working, though, according to Dr. Creepo, she normally is not that nice! How do people get away with this?! It makes me so angry!

I have been to both Secure Medical locations (Gaithersburg and Beltsville) and I have never waited more then 15 minutes to see a doctor. My most recent visit was on a holiday and it was so convenient that they were open because I couldn't find any other urgent care clinics that were. The administrative staff, nurses, and doctors are all very helpful and kind, it feels like they really care about their patients. I was also pleased with how clean both clinics were. I will always go to Secure Medical first for urgent care.

They just rip you off. They have bad service. They are there just to earn money. They want you do accept doing several tests and examinations, which is good, but they want them all done with them, so that they can charge you very high. I have seen other people coming there to fight back who were claiming they provided wrong information. I just do not trust them.

I took my daughter here for travel vaccines before she went on a Global Education trip for her school. Our pediatrician did not carry the required vaccines and we were referred to SecureMedicalCare. We found the service, staff and doctor to be both professional and excellent!! We waited only a few minutes and then when seen by the doctor, we were given extensive verbal and written information on each vaccine my daughter needed (the reason for the vaccine and the possible side effects). The doctor was incredibly thorough and we left there extremely impressed with the care and knowledge we recieved. We know of several other students from my daughter's school who also used SecureMedicalCare and they had positive reviews as well. I would highly recommend this clinic--very professional and certainly less wait than our pediatrician. Thank you SecureMedicalCare, we will be back.

I recently visited the Gaithersburg Office and had a great experience. The Doctor examined me and listened to all my ailments. The staff I interacted with were both very professional and very kind. I was even able pick up my antibiotic and a medicated cough medicine without having to step foot in a local CVS. All in a single trip to see a Doctor.

Went in for my girlfrend's infected dog bite, doctor did not look me in the eye as i asked her 2 questions of concern. Next day she had to go to a hospital after not feeling any better where she was told the antibiotic they gave her wasnt strong enough to take care of the infection. Western Medicine...smh.

I am an emergency room registered nurse. I went to this facility today, referred by my insurance company following an injury at work. The PA did not examine me, she said :What medication do you want?" I told her I was in alot of pain, currently taking motrin. She proceeded to lecture me on pain medication, abuse of medication and addiction potenctial. She said she "values her liscence" to much. I have no idea what this was about. I do not, nor have I ever taken any prescription medication. When I asked her to clearify what she was saying, she snapped "You say you are a nurse so you know that percocet and oxycotin are only used to get high"
Again! I have no idea what this was all about! I do not take these medications! She did give me a prescription for flexeril (A muscle relaxer) and vicoden (A pain medication) but she made a bug fuss about how she was only "giving me 10 pills of each".
I, as an ER nurse, am well aware of the risks of addiction and medication abuse, but as I do not, nor have I in the past take any such medication, I found the lecture to be rude and ill timed. I ACTUALLY was in pain and not feeling well. I was given no physical exam beyond "point to where you say your injury is" and then the staff at the desk could not tell me how much they were going to bill my insurance company for the visit. Also I was the ONLY patient in the clinic and I was left to wait in the exam room for 45 minutes while I listened to the staff watch the world cup soccer game on the TV.
Not a good experience.

I have never experienced being profiled as a drug addict prior to this experience. I travel 80% of the time, showed up in a suite while visiting other healthcare facilities for work, and was in a jam. I ran out of meds while on an extended stay in MD andwhen I spoke to Dr. Helen Fisher and she said, 'You can't come here for this". I asked for a refill on an antidepressent, a non narcotic sleep medication, and hydrocodone for degenerative disc disease. I recently moved and had not had time to establish a relationship with a PCP in the Richmond area. The doctor didn't want to hear it. Not only that, when she did write the script, she actually blackened out her DEA number! What on earth could I have done with a DEA #??? The treatment I received was disrespectful and insulting.

I have been to both the Beltsville and Gaithersburg office. I have been there with my daughter as an emergency patient and on other occasions with an appointment. My experiences with the doctors ( Dr. Moody and others) have always been excellent. The doctors are excellent and caring . I find the staff far more competent that most other doctor's offices. I will continue to go back and recommend Secure Medical Care to everyone I know.

I had a cold and I got dizzy and weak. The ER is too expensive so I went here. I just walked in. I wasn't sure if they would see me without an appointment or insurance, but the doctor saw me immediately. He did an x-ray and put me on an antibiotic for pneumonia and I was able to get back to work in 2 days. It cost me $190 with the all the x-rays and medicines.

Excellent care!
Secure Medical Care was recommended to my wife by a friend several years ago. I have been there several times with my wife, kids and even my 98 y/o grandmother. The care has always been great. Everyone has always been friendly and efficient. I've noticed that my family doctor has started recommending Secure Medical Care to his patients, when he is unavailable.

We went to Secure Medical care in Gaithersburg to get a vaccine administered after confirming with them on phone. After almost an hour long wait we were told that they cannot provide service. The folks there were the most unfriendliest and incompetent.

My husband and I went to the Gaithersburg Secure Medical Care office because neither of us could get appointments with our primary care physicians that day, despite the fact we were both desperately ill. We walked in, spoke to some very friendly receptionists, and were seen almost immediately. They gave my husband a chest x-ray on the spot and did the fastest bloodwork turnaround I've ever seen before diagnosing him with early pneumonia and me with an acute sinus infection. Astonishingly, despite all the tests, we were out of there in under two hours. For all this, we were charged a $50 co-pay. This might seem pricey to some, but it was a heck of a lot cheaper than the $100 minimum we would have been charged for an emergency room visit and no more expensive than if we had gone to our primary care doctors (with our insurance, $20 for the doctor, $30 for radiology). Ergo, we were extremely satisfied with our experience.

I was at the Beltsville,MD facility in early February 2008 for service. I had both a primary and secondary insurances and stated clearly which one was my primary. They switched the cards and filed they wrong claim that resulted in my primary insurance updated my records and switching me to secondary and affecting my other claims. I kept getting bills that needed explanation. I called the billing office and I believe I spoke with the supervisor. She was rude, nasty and blamed me for practically everything. I usually go to Doctor's Community hospital and have never had any problems with services and billing. I went to the Secure Medical care at Beltsville because a friend suggested it.
Not worth the headache. I think I stick with the Doctor's Community Hospital ER.

I have been to other urgent care facilities, and SMC is the best. It may be expensive if they do not work with your health care provider, but if you are without insurance like me, this facility has excellent prices and usually quick and friendly service! Try to avoid weekends or weekdays around 6pm, as they become busy.

My son went here to get his school physical done. His doctor was busy, so I found this place. He said that everything went fine, and the doctors were professional, but the physical was $60! Normally, it is only a $10 co-payment. I will make sure next time to schedule an appointment with my doctor earlier.

PROS: Good Services
CONS: Extremely High Prices
