1 Stars: Despicable does anyone regulate these places? (by Allysia C.)

I'm speechless. The smell, the animal packed in, rat traps and poison bait on the floor. Birds crammed 4 to a tiny cage. Lizards sick and emaciated, dead fish, sad rabbits. Whose job is it to check on these places?? Shame on this store and shame on the folks who are supposed to keep an eye on them.

5 Stars: Good Prices on everything in the place (by Hannah F.)

I went to this shop because both Petco and Petsmart were out of crickets for my bearded dragon. To my surprise...I was paying $1.39 a dozen for crickets at Petco normally to find a few dead. but this place was 99 cents a dozen! I ended up leaving the store with a baby citrus dragon which is beautiful! I will be back to this place thats for sure.

1 Stars: Sea Breeze Pet Ctr is THE WORST PET PLACE EVER! (by Ronnie T.)

I live near sea breeze, and thought of buying an reptile there as i became more interested in them and wanting to breed them later on. i was hoping to buy a mate for the male leopard gecko i was to buy maybe a week later. i wasnt very experienced in the herp field, and still have alot of growing room, but while i was looking aroung their selection, i noticed alot of no-no's in the store.
1. a medium sized critter keeper meant only for temp use and maybe two smaller lizards, housed six or more of same and opposite sex reptles, as well as some that shouldnt be together i.e. large range in size could cause fighing, and death, etc.
2.juvinile reptiles on sand??!! really bad! they should have been on a cage carpet, or at the very least, paper towel.
3. most reptiles looked very skinny, as if they havent eaten in weeks. most can go up to a week, but these looked longer. i saw pussy eyes, and alot of injurys.
4. The teenagers in the store are poorly trained, have no idea what they are talking about, and acted as if they could not have cared less about the animals or their job.

i also noticed the bird looked stressed and unhealthy, there were dead fish everywhere, and their feeder mice looked as if they were underfed, and very sickly.
all in all, ive decided to get my reptiles and supplies from petsmart in timmonium or flukerfarms.com. Although a little more expensive (i almost feel see breeze basis price on their poor quality) both are reputable and service as well as merchandise (living and non) are FANTASTIC!! i reccomend to do the same, or find a good breeder site. youll be much happier, as was i.
i want to give this place a 0, but i cant. the rating system wont let me.

5 Stars: Nice little Pet Center UNREAL prices (by Serina T.)

This was my first visit to Seabreeze Pet Shop, we were looking for a baby Quaker Parrot and Petco (right across the road) was sold out of them.

This store had 6 of them just weaned from handfeeding at $99.00 each!!! UNREAL PRICE, Petco was $299.00 each for them! You cant even find a handraised cockatiel for that price any more.

Just thought I would share that information, I was pretty impressed with the place.

2 Stars: Bad Care (by Ben F.)

I used to love this store, but as my fascination with reptiles grew, my view of the store greatly diminished. The reptiles are not taken care of, many are sickly and skinny. Put into cages that are too small for one, yet hold as much as they could cram in there. Many have disgusting water. I have, from experience, seen that they also do not give the best advice either. They reccomend heat rocks, and do not tell very much on the care, or the care that they will need in the future. That is why I was worried about the shipment of savannah and nile monitors (who were kept in the same enclosure, with no humidity at all, the niles are gone now, but sick and skinny sav's remain). They also house animals together that should not be together, and also use sand for some of their baby animals. It also smells and is not clean, in my opinion. They have a nice selection, species wise, but definently not health wise.

5 Stars: Great Mom and Pop Pet Shop! (by Olivia M.)

Petsmart in Towson recommended I check out this pet shop, and it was FANTASTIC! The prices were great and they had a very 'different' selection of pets and pet supplies.

Wish there were more places like this still around. It reminds me of the pet shops that were around in the 80's and 90's Great customer service also.

4 Stars: Deborah Basel (by Deborah B.)

Are you tired of bored teenagers posing as pet store employees at those big chains who act like they are doing you a favor to point you in some random direction in search of what you're looking for?

Well, then this pet store will be balm for your soul. The people working in this store really care about their store, about the animals, and matching the right person with the right pet. They ask questions, politely ascertaining what you know about what you are looking for and then provide information - and sometimes even computer print-outs with more information. Not only that, but they actually remember you when you come in, will ask about your finned, furred, and feathered babies, AND, rather than waving a bored hand in a general direction, will walk over with you to show you where something is and give you good, honest information about the products that they sell.

About their animals? They spend a lot of time with their customers and potential customers talking with them and making sure that the pets are a good match. The cages and the animals in them are spotlessly clean. All of them have fresh food and water. The store is always gleaming and you can see the pride these people have in their establishment. I have been in the store at random times, morning, evening, and afternoon - and have always been impressed with the care lavished on the animals there and on the store itself.

What does it matter if you spend a few pennies less at one of those large chains where they could care less if you buy anything? Where everything comes out of a big warehouse somewhere, and there isn't a personal relationship anywhere, from the factory to the chain store? Price isn't everything and, in an age of vanishing personal service and caring, this place is a refreshing exception.

Five Stars and Kudos to the management.

5 Stars: Hedgehogs and Sugargliders Healthy and Well Maintained (by Heather P.)

After searching the Internet for Hedgehogs and Sugargliders, we ran across this place just outside of Towson. We had been searching for a Hedgehog or Sugarglider for a few weeks but weren't able to find a single store that had them for sale.Sea Breeze however had both of them, we wanted to see them up close and in person before making any decisions. The place was clean, well maintained and had a great selection of just about everything (minus Dogs and Cats) which I actually like the fact that most stores don't carry dogs and cats any longer..We held a baby Sugargliders, which was very friendly and were impressed by not only the selection but in the overall knowledge and way we were treated by the staff. I'm no critic, but I have to give this place a 5 star rating for its overall cleanliness and well maintained pets. When we are ready to make the plunge we will certainly make our purchase for them, they also had some great combo deals if you purchased the entire setup.

2 Stars: Great Selection, But Poorly maintained reptiles (by Lauren K.)

I recently visisted this store to look for a mate for my male Leucistic Leopard Gecko, and they showed me an adult leopard gecko (who, in any case, was a male, so it wouldn't work out). The gecko looked relatively healthy, however, seemed to have shed recently, and retained some dead skin on his fingers. I asked how recently the gecko had shed, and was suprised to find that it had been over a week ago. I was unhappy about this, and the lackadasical response to the fact that the gecko was retaining old skin, because if the skin on the fingers doesn't come off, it will dry there and retract, and the gecko's fingers will fall off. I then personally spent about 10 minutes pulling the old skin off myself... (the mama herper in me rears her head)

A bunch of the Golden Geckos they had there also had lost tails. So... I don't know.

While some of their larger animals were absolutely gorgeous, the one's I'm a little more savvy on (the geckos) looked like they could have used some more TLC. I personally wouldn't buy a gecko there.

However, they had some incredible snakes.

So.. It really depends on what you are looking for. But I've seen better. Good prices on their merch though.

5 Stars: A VERY VERY pleasant surprise!! (by Jenn E.)

Ok, first let me say that this is my first review. I wanted to write this to tell others out there about this business. First I have to be honest and say that I have been a customer of Petsmart (about 3/4 of a mile up the road) for about two years, I had no idea that this store ever existed, the owner said it has been at this location for nearly 40 years. I went to Petsmart looking for a friendly parrot, something the entire family could enjoy. Petsmart notified us that all of their birds were under quarantine through the health department until further notice, they recommended I check out the place down the street. I went to Seabreeze which was right down the street and I was given kind and courteous service from the moment I walked into the place, they had a wide selection of hand raised birds all of which I was told were raised right in the store from babies. The saleslady was more than happy to spend nearly two hours with us while we looked at two different African Greys and three Amazons Parrots. I was so impressed with this place I later went home and got my husband, brought him back and about a hour later we left with not only one African Grey parrot and cage but a pair of baby bearded Dragons which were also raised in the store. There was only two people working and both were extremely friendly and knew everything about what they were selling. They even gave us baby pictures of our new African Grey! This was a very expensive first time visit to this store and it was worth every dollar the salesperson gave us a very nice discount on our purchase and with the kind of service we received this will absolutely be our new place to shop. The store was clean, organized and believe it or not the prices were equal to or less than Petsmart. We told the store owner we would be writing a review on our pleasant experience in his store, so I hope they find this. Anyone out there looking for great customers service, a knowledgeable staff and a overall great place to shop you have to check this place out.

5 Stars: Wonderful Pet Store! Super service! (by April P.)

After visiting this pet store I don't think I will ever be able to go back to another "Big box" store. The service that you can get at a smaller store like this is so much better then you can expect anywhere else. When I came in, I was greeted right away. The lady that was working there was very knowledgeable about the animals and what products you need to take proper care of them. Over all, my experience was wonderful. I will definitely shop there again!

5 Stars: A-1 STORE The way a pet shop should be ! (by Jeff L.)

I have to say I have been to many and most of the surviving independent pet shops in the MD, PA and VA area and this one is the tops hands down! The staff was extremely friendly and really knew what they were talking about. The animals which included Guinea Pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, dwarf opossum, ferrets, chinchillas, reptiles, dozens of birds and a variety of other pets (no dogs or cats) thank goodness........ were all clean and very healthy looking. The staff allowed my children to hold a few of the pets and had no problem with tons of questions about the more exotic pets in the store. If you have not been to this place you have to check it out. The are sandwiched between a Petco and a Petsmart and there prices are equal to or better then the Petco about 4000 feet away from them. We used to get our Carefresh bedding at Petco at $21.99 a bag, Seabreeze price was $18.99 everyday and was on sale for $17.99 a bag. A fairly small place but a class A opperation and I would and will highly recommend this place to anyone looking to purchase a pet. I only wish that there were more pet stores like this one around.

1 Stars: I hate buying sick and pregnant animals, don't you? (by Stephanie V.)

I used to browse this shop quite often. I was impressed by their selection(though rather over priced), and found them to be rather clean. However, it wasn't until about a week ago I made my first, and last, live animal purchase there. I bout a hairless(sphynx/alien) rat. The young lady working that night, who seemed very ignorant in her line of work, did not let me look my rat over before selling her to me. She just boxed her up, took her to the register, and began ringing me up. When I got my new friend home, it was then I realized they had housed her on pine or cedar bedding. A big "no no" for hairless rats. Her eyes were red and goopy from the allergic reaction she was having. So naturally, I made an appointment with my vet(Feathers Tales and Scales). Sadly, they were booked through the weeked. An appointment was given to me that Monday; 3 days away. The night before, her vet appointment, after I had come home from work, I went to feed her and noticed she had a baby. Rats normally have a litter of about 12, if she had killed some babies, I couldn't tell you. Hairless rats tend to have trouble lactating, and to my knowledge, this is probably why she killed the baby tonight. My suggestion is that you do not buy anything living from this pet shop. They're inexperienced, sell sick and pregnant animals, and don't deserve your business.

3 Stars: Proceed with caution (by Katherine M.)

I browse in this pet shop more than I buy, mostly because I have seen too many sick animals and fish here (and even two dead bunnies one Easter). The shop isn't tiny but it is crowded with cages and tanks. They have a lot of supplies and prices seem reasonable. I just wouldn't buy pets here.

3 Stars: May be ok (by Paul H.)

I used to go in this shop often and got fish there and a turtle once. The turtle turned otu to be very sick but they did take him back and gave me a refund. Other things were questionable. I have been in a few times recently and it seemed better, cleaner, and the husband/wife (?) owners seemed more attentive. I would not hesitate to get supplies there but would be very careful buying live animals, birds, or fish. Ask about return policies.
