I have been going to this restaurant for about 4 weeks now, about once a week, and it is great. The chefs are nice, the place is always packed, and the food is delicious. It is hard to find a good sushi restaurant in Baltimore city, but I really like the atmosphere so much better at Minato than at the sushi restaurants in Federal Hill. Not only is the food great, but the place is really pretty on the inside. I would highly recommend it.

I was so pleased to find out that Minato moved next door to me on Charles between Eager and Chase. The new location is absolutely beautiful - definitely the new hot spot in Mount Vernon. The owners and staff are so friendly they make everyone feel at home! For such a classy looking place it has a family feel and the food is amazing. Five Stars!

I was never a person to eat out at a "real" restaurant. Does the napkin go in your shirt, aorund your neck, on your lap. I didn't want to make a fool of myself by pretending to know what I was doing so I settled for Interstate "restaurants", seeing that i amd 5 mins away from 95.
First, I HATE fish with a passion! SO now you ask why i would go to a Sushi Bar?? Well, in 2005 I met a wonderful guy who clued me in to this restaurant, and now i am hooked, and I honestly believe the boys that cook that food can make anything taste good. I've eaten Sushi and not choked on it going down :)) and I am now hooked on Octopusut This place is it one of the most chill, relaxed atmosphers in Balt. and they also serve wonderful cooked dishes, and appitizers too. I suggest you do what i did and try everything on the menu at least once, then you have a clear deffinition of what you like and don't like although I don't think I dislike ANYTHING they serve.
What else can I say, the food is out of this world, the atmosphere make s you feel like your at home, or a realy good friends house eating, and the prices of the food are well under what you would expect to pay at this type of restaurant.
If you are ever in Mt. Vernon and are looking for some good Japanese food at a great price, this is the place for you.

Minato has the best sushi in Baltimore, I think. It's impeccably fresh and they have interesting combinations that I haven't seen in other sushi restaurants. Their other dishes are also excellent, especially the miso soup. I would eat there several times a week if I could. The staff is very friendly and service is always excellent. The restaurant is quiet with a very elegant, understated decor. Dining there is a lovely experience in all ways.

Minato is a great little sushi restaurant in Mt. Vernon, right near the monument. Their sushi is always fresh and tasty, and they have a great 3-roll combo option for $10. The agedashi (sp?) appetizer here is great, too! Be sure to stop by for the bento Box lunch special, which is like a little sampler of lots of tasty japanese treats. Enjoy!

Someone wrote Minato is not Japanese at all. I say it's Japanese enough. Japanese is not spoken and guests dont on tatami. But the Food is Japanese enough to a very discriminating tongue and the atmosphere is better than Japanese. Lets be fair!

It's just not real Japanese food , and it looks like it's not owned by Japanese either( which is common in the US) I'm Japanese from Japan. Is it too much to look for an authentic Japanese restaurant in Baltimore? I don't know, but I wouldn't recommend people to go to this restaurant, if you're looking for something authentic.

The atmosphere was ok and the food was all right, but it's just not Japanese at all.

With its move a few blocks north, Minato gained bold quarters, with modern furniture, a window on Charles Street, and a wavy, rainbow-hued ceiling. But the Japanese restaurant, whose names means "harbor," is still a showcase for Alex…
