As a resident of Japan for over five years, I have some exposure to what Japanese Food is suppose to taste like. At the Nichi Bei Kai, the restaurant offers Authentic Japanese Cuisine. :)

I suggest going to the restaurant at off-peak times, this restaurant is popular due to the food quality. Enjoy. :)

My review may be a bit one-sided -- I've been eating sushi here for so long, I've practically forgotten what their cooked food tastes like! But for those of you who like some heat applied to your dinner, there is a full menu of grilled dinners that can be prepared with great showmanship right in front of you at a grill table.

As for the sushi bar... in addition to the a la carte nigiri and rolls, and several sushi/sashimi combo dinners, there is a great combo option called Mame (pronounced mah-may). It is a sampler of rolls, nigiri, sashimi, seaweed, and hand rolls. (Hint: eat the hand rolls first, while they're fresh!) Along with the sushi items, you get 2 soups and 2 salads. Mame will satisfy 2 hearty appetites or 3 or 4 petite ones.

There is also a full bar menu available, including Japanese beers, sake, and plum wine. Soft drinks are available... but why would you want them when you can get fresh green tea?

Desserts mostly consist of ice creams and sherbets. Red bean ice cream is good, if you can get past the notion of having beans for dessert ;o). Cheesecake is usually available also.

Nichi Bei Kai is closed on Mondays, and open only for dinner on weekends. Other days it is open for both lunch and dinner.

Their sushi is awesome. For the price, hard to find better fish than here.

Their hibachi is average.
