Zina should not be permitted around wax

by Debby C.

I went to Zina's a few months ago for my first experience with a Brazillian Wax. Zina herself did mine. She was very nice ... and that's about all I can say that's positive. She seemed so preoccupied when we walked in the room. I didn't know what to expect so I just stood there - after a moment she told me to "drop my pants". I layed on the table and she started lathering on the wax and ripping it right off. The hardest part was that she was getting frustrated because I wasn't holding my skin tight enough for her?!?!? I wasn't aware that my participating would involve more than just being waxed. She was about half way done when she asked me the last time I had this done. I told her "Um .. NEVER" and she began apologizing up and down. At that point she started talking me through it, slowed it down a little and told me when to take deep breaths. (It helped). Nevertheless, she sent me home with patches of wet wax all over. Betcha never saw actual fabric glued and stuck to your "hoo-ha" before, have ya? Yeah, then follow that up with blisters and scabs for another month and a half. But hey ... maybe she'll do a good job on you :)

HORRIBLE Maternity Massages and Service

by Susan A.

If you are looking for relaxation and comfort DO NOT GO TO ZINA's. The relaxation area is not relaxing. No locker room/shower/quiet dark area to relax. Cold massage rooms, pathetic massage techniques and they had me and my friend on our backs for over 45 minutes during a maternity massage. They used little lotion/oils to provide lubrication talk about Indian Burn! The one massage therapist left her bracelet on and kept scratching one of my friends!

Worst Day Spa I've EVER been to!!!!

by Kat R.

I took one of my friends to Zina's the day before her wedding for a relaxing treat. Turns out that was a bad decision. Where do I even begin??? For starters we were kept waiting for over half an hour because Zina's employees showed up late to work. After we finally got in our rooms, our services were cut short to "keep us on schedule". I received a body scrub, facial, and pedicure. The girl who did the body scrub did a horrible job and I broke out in a horrible rash that lasted for over 3 days. (She asked me halfway through the service what type of skin I had. Are you kidding me??) Not to mention that she made me feel really uncomfortable while performing the service, as well as throwing me in the shower without any towels, body washes, or anything to clean my rashy skin off with. When Zina was walking around later I commented to her about my service and received a "that's what the service is". And then of course she cut me off and ran off to talk to one of her "more important friends that walked in the door". I am so angry at this place I will NEVER go back. Thanks for ruining my friends bridal spa event. For all the money I spent. Not one person gave her any special treatment. Again don't waste your money...

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

by Amber M.

Me and a friend recently went to Zinas for a relaxing afternoon. We were highly disappointed. The atmosphere is loud and obnoxious due to the owner. She's very rude, pushy, and extremely unprofessional to her staff. I don't understand why any of them would remain working for her. My friend received a waxing from Zina and said she seemed like she was rushing the whole time!DO NOT GO HERE!!!

A bad experience explained

by Chuck N.

I had a great, honest conversation with Zina, the owner, after sending in a complaint letter. I'm glad that she finally got back to me. I know that running a business and keeping people happy is a difficult endeavor, and I appreciate that Zina took time out to explain the situation.

Overall, we've had good experiences at Zina's. I appreciate Zina's frank approach. I do wish that it hadn't taken so long to finally resolve the matter, but thus is life.

Please always read the policies before making an appointment anywhere...it will save you some hassles later and prevent bad feelings.

second times a charm

by Andrea T.

This is my 2nd haircut at Zinas. I am really glad I gave them a second chance. The first time I was very put off by the interactions between the owner Zina and my stylist. At first I thought Zina was being rude to the stylist (sorry do not know her name) and maybe she was - but when I got home and fooled with my new cut - i hated it! then I thought well maybe the owner is frustrated. It took a year to return and what a difference. First off the stylist Phil (I do remember his name) gave me the best cut I have ever gotten. He talked me through the entire cut, educating me along the way. I get so many compliments and refer everyone to him. In addition the owner seemed very pleased to have Phil on board - I know I am!!! If you want a contemporary hairstyle and stylist who cares - Phil at Zina's is your guy!

Awful haircut, dishonest stylist

by Heidi D.

Do not go here. When I called for my appointment, I asked how much a haircut would be and the receptionist said they started at $50. I asked for a stylist on the bottom so that my cut would be $50. When I went to check out, the total came to $65. I disagreed with the amount, and the receptionist said that I was charged $15 because she flat-ironed my hair. What?
Also, she kept trying to push this hair dye on me even though I told her repeatedly that I was not interested in coloring my hair.
It was just an all-around negative experience.

Bad experience with group booking

by Anonymous

I had a very bad experience with the owner of this place. I tried to book 4 people for a party on short notice - 3 days ahead of time for a Sunday. Before deciding on Zina's I asked if they would have enough availability on a Sunday for such a large group. I also asked if they would have some tea/coffee/cookies available.

I had to have daily conversations with the staff due to their repeated attempts to change our appts to Saturday. Then, on the day of the appts, the guest of honor was delayed by wedding planning and so she and I were 15 minutes late. The facial-ist was not able to stay an extra 15 mins to give me a 30 min appt. The staff thought that someone else would be able to come in, but they could not make it. The owner insisted on charging me for the service anyway. I refused to pay for it. The way she treated the staff during all of my experiences with her was really awful - pathologic.

And in the end, there were no refreshments. An all-together unsatisfactory experience.

Great Spa Packages

by megan S.

I thought it was a bit pricy when we bought the packages, but once in there, Zina and her staff make you forget about it. They accomodate and pamper you to your heart's desire. My facialist gave me the best cleansing facial and my husband loved the massage. I will go back, maybe not for a package, but most certainly for a facial and wax. She has a wonderful staff.

By far, the best in town!

by Stacy B.

Visited my family this past weekend and despite the contraversial reviews, I decided to go to Zina's. I had a great experience, her staff is friendly and accomodating, the atmosphere is relaxing. I would recommend the place to anyone. The massage therapists are wonderful and the wax is quick and pain-free. As far as Zina goes, she is there to make sure you are offered tea, coffee or cookies, anything you'd want, and that your needs are met. I don't see how some people say she is rude or pushy....My mom was just as satisfied and she is going back. Great spa, great staff!

Great service! Great location! Friendly

by Kali P.

I read the reviews and was shocked. I have been going to Zina's for years. She is extremely friendly, very personal and does the best waxing job you will ever find-anywhere!!
The manicures and pedicures are great. They may be more expensive the strip malls, but you can't beat the service. They take their time and are fantastic- all with cookies, cheese and crackers and wine-yummy!
You should go-you will be pleased.

very very pushy owner, ok salon

by lq q.

i have been here twice-the owner is insanely pushy and really puts you in a bad mood b/c she pushes her products and services on you even when you tell her you aren't interested. She makes me not want to go back. my facialist however, was great and the experience (apart from getting in and out the door when having to deal with zina) was a good one. i also had a haircut and it was fine but i would love to find another salon close by that is not so pushy...

Excellet Spa, Excellent Service!

by Juliana V.

I was quite concerned and shocked when I read recent reviews of Zina's Spa posted on this website. I never write reviews, but I feel like I should defend my favorite spa again this series of blatantly misleading information. Zina has been my favorite spa and salon for years, and I have always been treated with utmost respect. This may not be your fancy franchise spa (and I've been to many over the years, especially when I travel, but I always come back to Zina's to "fix" what other salons did), at Zina's you feel like part of the family. I see the same people working there every time I come back, and I see the same customers coming back month after month just like I do. I've recommended Zina's to all my friends, and not a single person ever told me that they had an unpleasant experience here. Even when getting a complicated, sensitive and personal procedure like waxing, you are being talked to in a way that makes you feel like you're talking to an old friend, which distracts you from what's being done. This is the best spa I've ever been to over the years for a wide variety of services, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

relaxing and pampering

by Vick S.

They do an amazing job of pampering the customer by playing calming music, massaging the body and paying close attention to what the customer wants. I had a brazilian bikini wax and it was totally the best one i had ever had. The atmosphere is one of its best . Everything and everyone is targeted towards muted, calm and relaxing environment. The service was totally amazing and staff was very attentive.

PROS: Unbelievable service of getting pampered

get the european facial

by heather s. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,073

You get a mini-neck and arm massage as well as a heating treatment for your hands along with the facial. I highly recommend tit. they're open early on saturdays and parking is usually available nearby. they have a wide assortment of skincare, nailcare, and massage treatments as well as many packages for special events. the employees will do their best to recommend appropriate products for you, however, they are not pushy in trying to sell them. they have many products that are not available in stores.

Ok Spa in downtown location

by Sharon P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,517

If you want basic good services without a lot of nicities, this is a good selection. However, if you are used to upscale pampering, I would recommend that you keep looking.

PROS: Good basic services
CONS: Not very nice environment.. Parking inconvenient
