I rarely eat @ Popeye??s and when I do the food is actually pretty good, besides the red beans & rice, which I never liked anyway. I saw a commercial for Popeye??s advertising that they were selling 8 pieces of chicken for $4.99 for one day only on April 22, 2009, so I decided that I was going to purchase dinner for my family that night from Popeye??s. When I arrived there, the drive-thru was backed up as well as inside the restaurant, which was completely filled with customers placing orders, so I decided I was better off waiting in the drive-thru line. I arrived at the drive-thru line @ 6:30 pm. I was in line maybe hour when one of the employees came outside because she was just getting off of work. She had informed several of us in the drive-thru line that it was about an hour??s wait because there were only 3 fryers, and some of the customers were placing large orders for chicken. The car ahead of me placed an order for 8 orders of the 8 pc chickens special. That was just ridiculous and it also infuriated me. No wonder the wait was so long because customers were placing very large orders for chicken. Popeye??s should have stated that there was an order limit on the chicken. I was so happy when it was finally my turn to place my order. I ordered 2 of the 8 pc chicken specials, 1 large mashed potatoes w/gravy, 4 biscuits, 1 order fries, and 1 large Cole slaw, which totaled $22.10. Once I got home @ 8: 12 pm with my family??s dinner, we sat down to eat and once we began to eat the chicken, we all had asked one another if they thought the chicken tasted very bland, which we all had agreed did. I honestly think that Popeye??s fryer cook forgot to season the chicken and/or batter before cooking it. I spent $22.10 on dinner for my family and we enjoyed everything EXCEPT the chicken. That will be the very last time I order from Popeye??s. I am going to stick with ordering from KFC, as I have always done in the past.
