.

If you ever have an issue with billing don't expect any understanding or cooperation! I was billed and it came back as "insufficient funds" on my account. Rather than call me or email me or send me a letter alerting me to the problem I was called up to the front desk during a workout and told to pay or leave, my account was in good standing on Saturday morning. How do I know? I was allowed to charge a water to my account (If you have ever charged anything to your account with Fitness first you know that charges aren't allowed with a balance of more than $10.00). When did this happen? Monday evening. When I complained about how I was treated and told fitness first that I intended to post a negative review concerning this I was threatened three seperate times with lawsuits (twice by Amy Dipasquale and once by Peter Harvey), then after I posted the review anyway I was told by Amy Dipasquale that:

"You have forced my hand. Your membership is terminated and you are never welcome inside a Fitness First Club again! I have also sent over your email to our attorneys. I hope this was worth it for you! Your balance will be sent to a collection agency by March 1st should you chose not to pay! Have a wonderful day! ".

In Ms. Dipasquale's FIRST email she threatened to sue me!

"Please call me at 301-963-XXXX. I do not take your threats lightly. I need to explain to you how we operate before you make the mistake of posting false comments on Facebook, twitter or any other website you have mentioned. If you feel the need to defame our business with your false outlook on our business practices, I will get our attorneys involve."

I never denied owing the money, I never even tried to get out of paying. All I did was tell them that the way the situation was handled was needlessly embarassing and humiliating. Fitness First does not want people to tell the bad experiences that happen at their gyms and they try to use threat of legal action to bully people into not posting the truth.

Fitness First has a few things going for it: it's just $31 a month, they open at 5am, they provide free babysitting, and you can use any of their facilities. However, they're small and smell like a gym. Also, you have to sign a year-long contract. I'd rather go month to month.

PROS: just $31 a month, free babysitting, open at 5am
CONS: small, must sign year-long contract
