I dance at Ann Marie's for two seasons when I was twelve... I am now 23. My parents paid a reasonable price for my instruction. At every local competition we were given honable mention--the nice way of saying "that's for showing up and paying the ridiculous registration fee for your 3 minutes of shame." We never won a competition the entire time I was there... no one did... the choreography was lame and outdated. On Ann Marie's constant quest to get her name out there, she decided to take my competition group to Starpower in Ocean City-- we were her pride. Due to the fact that my parents demanding work schedules (to obviously pay for my dance education) they could not afford to be the "room mother" type like the rest of the parents so Ann Marie made a conscious decision to hold a secret meeting to invite the rest of my competetive group to the competetion behind my back. She told the other 3 dancers not to tell me and told their parents not to discuss it as well. Fortuntely my best friend was on the team and leaked the elaborate plan. When Ann was confronted by my family she apologized but refused to accept responsibility for her actions... in turn NO ONE went to Starpower.

Honestly, as a child this incident hurt my self-esteem and sense of self-worth. I questioned why I was not good enough to be involved....I questioned my ability, when in fact this was never the issue. She made me resent the working class family I came from and made me envy those children who had mothers that didn't work and parents that showed at every performance.

From there on out, I continued my dance education. I have danced for DJs dance studio, Experiment Movement Concepts, Broadway Dance Center NY and Steps NY. I went on to participate in the dance programs at both Essex Community College and UMBC before returning to coach my high school dance team at Perry Hall.

Looking back, I regret the time I spent at Ann Marie's. I feel her instruction limited me in so many ways.

I have taken my kids here for a few visits , but had to change due to a move in work. The service provided was adequate nothing spectacular. The staff is a little young and the facility is somewhat dirty. I would probably use them again and my child was happy with the service and the workers.
