I went to the aquariun today, Aug 3, 2010 and I had not been here in about two years. I used to really enjoy the exhibits; today however, it felt as if they had changed the aquarium quite a bit, leaving out many of the exhibits and perhaps areas they once had and replacing these with souvenir areas. The dolphin show for anyone who has been to Sea World or even a zoo would leave an empty taste in your mouth, and there is no crowd control to enable everyone to have an opportunty to look at the exhibits without being shoved, stepped upon or waiting patiently for them to move over to the next one. Due to this it felt quite OVERPRICED! It is a real shame because it has and had so much potentia.

This aquarium is big and has lots of fish, sharks, frogs, birds, turtles, etc. The dolphin show was lots of fun. The price of admission can be a little steep, but I would definitely recommend this aquarium for those looking for fun in the Baltimore-DC area.

I visited the National Aquarium when two of my three children were still small. I thought the live exhibits were awesome, but it was hard to enjoy chasing a two and a half year old and carrying a 6 month old! Stollers are not allowed and have to be parked upon entry. This was the only aspect that I found not family freindly! But I would definately recommend it for a great family fun day...just wait until teh children are a little older!

If you're visiting the area or live in the area, the aquarium is a great place to spend an afternoon. While most aquariums are pretty similar, the national aquarium in Baltimore offers dolphin shows and has areas that make you feel like you traveled to another country.

This is my families favorite place. We have been here 3 times and it is always exciting every time we went.. Very family oriented setting, very clean, and the first time you just stare in amazement at the fishes, birds, stingrays, definitely the sharks etc being that close to you in real life. I noticed the children love it here also so its easy to keep occupied with the different displays. Can't wait to go again next year.

We love to visit this aquarium. We drive 3 hours to get there. The whole family enjoys it, young and old. It can be very expensive if you have a lot of children, but worth it if you've never been there before. They have a rainforest section which is nice. Many sharks, stingrays, tropical fish and turtles. You cannot use strollers in there, they give you baby carriers and backpacks to wear because of all the floors and escalators. The best thing about this place is the dolphin show, very amusing & entertaining and the view of Inner Harbor is amazing!

I came in from Philly today to see it. I was very impressed. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was that it was a little dark and you could get lost easily. Otherwise, everything was so beautifully arranged. There is so much to see. I spent 2 and a half hours there. More than any other place on the harbor (including the EspnZone). The dolphin show was well worth the price of admission alone.

I would definitely go again and take along my 5 year old neice. By the way I went on a Monday. I think Monday-Thursdays are the best times to go. I went around 12:30pm. No Long Lines!! I walked right up to the ticket window. There was like 2 people in line. I even got tickets to the Dolphin show right there at the window and the best part was I didn't have to wait I was told to go right in!!!

The National Aquarium is a great place to see all kinds of fish and sealife. There is a great dolphin show there.

The National Aquarium is big and very busy. It is often quite busy and crowded. You have to purchase tickets and they will tell you what time you can enter. Sometimes it is much later than the actual time. This is to help control crowds but it is quite disappointing to those that want to go into the aquarium!

In addition, the aquarium does not allow strollers. This is a problem for some. WE took our 18 month old daughter to the aquarium and she was not yet walking. She was about 20 pounds and it was not a very fun experience at the aquarium for us since we had to carry her everywhere and she was quite heavy and squirmy!

It is a great place to go but there are downfalls so be careful!

I've gone here a number of times during my lifetime, and I always enjoy it. Oddly enough, the aquatic displays are not the ones that I remember the most -- the amphibious displays and the rain forest on the roof are.

The place is huge, there are a ton of species on display, and it's simply a great way to spend time with the family. Especially since it's close to Inner Harbor, where you can meander for good food and neat shops. Don't forget to check out the submarine parked next door, and get a tour of that (unless you're claustrophic, in which I wouldn't recommend it!)

PROS: Huge place, lots of displays
CONS: Can get very crowded

Waste of $22.00. I went to this aquarium with my daughter, who is a senior biology major. We've been to many aquariums around the world. This has to be one of the worst.

Over crowded, murky tanks, hot, narrow passageways. A major part of the crowds are infants and toddlers who were visibly and QUITE audibly every BIT as miserable as those they constantly offended. this is NOT good parenting taking such little children to a place such as this. A pet store or a personal goldfish is a much better bet.

The much-touted Australian exhibit is a HUGE joke. It was absolutely the BIGGEST waste of time I've spent in years. I lived in Australia for a year so I am somewhat biased, but this "exhibit" makes no sense whatsoever. Cheezy thunder effects, few and scattered examples of wildlife, though the fake waterfall was very pretty. But, it's FAKE! I go to an aquarium to see the sea life!

This aquarium is also guilty of false advertising. Claiming to have penguins and other exotic animals, yet the place has only back lit photos of many of these promised attractions.

The gift shop was chock FULL of Australian-themed items with prices that would make any Aussie laugh out loud. In fact, there were WAY more toys, stuffed animals, and t-shirts with the Australian theme than there were examples of Australian wildlife! What makes them think their exhibit is so special? It was PATHETIC!

We had been in this place for about 10 minutes when we both said, "We PAID good money to be TORTURED this way?" I kept waiting, wondering, when will it end...when can I get OUT of this hole!?

We recommend the Monterrey Aquarium in CA, the Virginia Marine Science museum in VA Beach, and the Chattanooga Aquarium. DON'T waste your time and money at this one. Unless you have VERY low standards (apparently all of the reviews posted at this site don't ask for much...) you will be SO sorry you went.

This is one of the most well-known aquariums for a reason! The Baltimore Aquarium is gigantic and houses a million aquatic species and plants. They have tons of sharks (who don't eat the fish swimming with them because they're so full from their regular meals!), dolphins, fish of all colors, sting rays, beautiful coral, etc. This is better than the zoo's small collection of aquatic life, and is well taken care of. The animals are always happy and have a lot of swimming space.

This aquarium offers a large selection of fish to view and the scenery outside is not bad either. The fish inside range from fish I never knew existed to common fish. They also have seahorses and starfish and other underwater creatures that are neat to watch. It is not that expensive to visit and the facility is a nice one. It can get a little expensive if you buy some of the things from the gift shop but that is normal from anywhere.

This aquarium is a wonderful place to enjoy either with kids or without. I went here and had a great time with my family. They have a lot of exhibits and a huge selection of fish to view. My little nephew absolutely loved this aquarium and after we were done walking around the aquarium we walked along the river and looked at the old ship and ferries crossing over the water. The aquarium has friendly staff, reasonable prices, but it can get very crowded.

What a wonderful place to spend a day! If you're tired of the same old dinner and movies, try coming to the aquarium - what a great date destination! It is amazing how many different species of fish are housed in this building. The gigantic main tank with sharks and stingrays is a joy to look at, and puts you right in the middle of the sea. During the winter the aquarium runs a promotion with a deeply discounted admission price on Friday evenings - like you needed another reason to take a date here? Beware - it can be crowded, and you may have to wait your turn to get an up-close look into some of the tanks.

This aquarium is set up like no other. You start in the Appalachian mountains then work your way to the Chesapeake Bay. Then you go to the fish of the Atlantic coast and the Atlantic ridge. Finally, you visit the rest of the world and different fish and aquatic animals. Then you get to go into the rainforest where you find huge frogs, and tropical birds. They have just recently added a new addition the Austrailian exhibit. I can't wait to go see it. There are no strollers allowed! They do provide backpacks if you need to use one. One of my favorite things is that from Nov. 30 - March about they have a Friday after 5 pm prices take a dive policy. The prices for everyone becomes $5. Which is great because usually an adult alone is $16.

PROS: Amazing tanks full of fish
CONS: Hard to park, No strollers

The Baltimore aquarium is a beautiful building that is currently going under construction. I believe that when they're finished they're going to have a whole new rainforest section, which should be amazing to check out. Other than that, their current exhibits are great too. The stingray pool is fascinating--I can always spend easily a half hour just staring at them swimming around in there! The only one drawback I'd say is the admission price--try going when they have their $5 after 5pm promotion. It's a great deal, just make sure you get there early enough to get tickets to the last dolphin show!

It's overwhelming once you walk in. There's an escalator that sweeps up over the pool of stingrays. It's a little scary when you'r e young, but cool none the less. You have the opportunity to touch some of the aquatic life too. The aquariums of sharks puts everyone at awe. I would've liked to see the sharks go at it, but oh well. There's just so much to learn. It seems like an endless maze of knowledge.

Even after being there many times when I was young, I still go back to the National Aquarium in Baltimore whenever I get the chance. There are always new exibits, especially on the top floor where the rainforest area is. The place is always crowded though, making it difficult to just take your time going through there. But it's definitely worth it to check out, just try to go during the week.

PROS: Large, lots of exhibits
CONS: In the middle of the city, always crowded

Easily one of the greatest aquariums on the East Coast. The displays are incredible, begining with the free seal habitat located outside and all the way up to the rain forrest display, where you will often find the three-toed sloth just hanging around. The dolphin show is great, you'll deffinitly get splashed if you sit in the splash zone. There is a touching tank where you can pick up and hold starfish and other animals, and the shark display is really incredible, you walk down a winding staircase with walls of sharks on wither side of you. The price is great, and after five o'clock on Fridays you get a discount. The membership really is worth it if you go more than once a year, I reccomend getting it.

i love the aqaurium but I cannot afford to take my family more than once a year. At $17 per ticket, it comes to well in the three digit figure after parking. Most people will complain that oyu cannot take a stroller into the aquarium, but if you ever go on a crowded weekend you can see why. The place does tend to get overcrowded eventhough they time the entry of each visitor. The place does provide backpack carriers for those with little ones who cannot walk around yet. The tour id great. I love the sharks, very scary. The whole tour builds up to the dolphin show which is a dissapointment to me, but the kids like it. you go in expecting more tricks and activities, but all they do is show you how they train the dolphins. for $17 a person, I expect more flips!!

PROS: cool animals, kids love it
CONS: PRICE!!! and the dolphin show is a bit dissapointing

Overpriced and crowded. You really could not get near the exhibits and I did not think it was all that great to begin with. I felt like I was herded through like cattle. The staff was not helpful either and parking is a joke. They don't h ave their own lot you have to find a place to park and pay out the nose for it. The kids and I enjoyed the Adventure Aqwuarium in Camden NJ much better and it's cheaper.

The aquarium was very dark and hard to see. The mantas ray exhibit consisted of a concrete box that they swim around in there was no stimulation for them and it looked very depressing. They also did not allow strollers inside so it was very hard to get around. The dolphin show however was nice.

We started taking my daughter there when she was 6 months old. They do not allow strollers, but you may borrow a back carrier from them. The aquarium is set up so each floor segues easily into the next via ramps and escalators, also elevators for those who may need them. The star attractions are the indoor rainforest on the roof and the dolphin shows. There is usually a special attractions, like sharks, jellyfish, seahorses, etc that stay for almost a year. The food court is acceptable, but overpriced unless you compare them to some of the Inner Harbor restaurants.

PROS: rainforest,location
CONS: no strollers,crowded on weekend

Once you go to the Baltimore National Aquarium, you'll want to return for multiple visits thereafter. This is the most impressive aquarium I've seen, and it deserves every ounce of the attention and glory it's received. You travel through glass walkways and are surrounded by gallons of water, dozens of sharks and sting rays, and an infinite amount of marine life - you're completely engolfed in this mysterious world. I've never seen anything quite like it.

PROS:
CONS: Can be quite crowded; purchase tickets ahead of time

The Baltimore Aquarium is having its famous Dolphin show which indeed is the best. The way these dolphins are trained is just so wonderful. Situated near to inner harbour attracts every tourist to coem here and visit it atleast once. They also have varieties of fishes and other sea world animals too. The admission fee is little more but its worth it !!! In weekends the aquarium is really packed, so if u want to enjoy it completely i wud suggest you to go in weekdays.

This is a wonderful palce to take children and adults alike. Their is a massive shark pool that you can look down on and watch the feedings about 3 times a day. The feeders are very knowledgeable about the sharks and hang around to answer all the questions. The aquarium has made a very conscious effort to educate the public about the fish and the waters surrounding Maryland as well. I think this is a wonderful place to take out of town guests as well as a routine trip for locals.

The national aquarium in baltimore has something for all ages. They have a major display that rotates and they bring in some fascinating creatures such as many species of sea horses. They have interactive displays that help children (and those at heart) learn more about the world we rarely see. The staff is very knowledgeable and the prices are also reasonable. They often times have specials on friday nights.

Although this aquarium continues to grow in size every time we have gone it has been packed. The ticket price I felt was high especially for a family of three. On the plus side there are a ton of exhibits and my child had a great time seeing all the different types of fish. Definitely plan on spending at a minimum three hours and possibly all day if you watch any of the shows.

Huge sharks swimming in circles around you, playful dolphins jumping through hoops and splashing the crowd, walking through the "rainforest" and soon enough, visiting the Australian outback. All in one place at one time! The National Aquarium in Baltimore is great - even the teenagers and young adults were as interested as the little ones (they tried to say they weren't having fun but they definitely were!). The aquarium is set up nicely so that you can easily walk through all of the exhibits without missing any, and since people are constantly moving through there wasn't much problem with getting to see the smaller tanks and exhibits. We went for the great deal that they have on Friday nights, where you can get in after 5 pm for only $5 a person (although I think they just changed it and it is $7 or so each now). The dolphin shows have been cancelled for the last few months because of the birth of a baby dolphin, but she just reached 3 months and now they can name her and hopefully start them up soon. If there aren't any shows, find out when they feed the dolphin because we saw that and it was as good as a show! Also find out when the ray feedings are, as that was fun to watch too. One of our other favorites was the exhibit with the deadly frogs - it's fun to try and find each frog in the different setups. Also, there are some fast-food type places to eat at if anyone gets hungry. Enjoy!

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is a great place to take the family. It's very educational, well-kept, and in a great location. The fish are beautiful. They have a shark tank and also a rain forest "environment" that you can walk through. They have a dolphin show that I've heard bad things about so I haven't bothered to see it. Admission is expensive--about 20 bucks a person--but it is discounted on Friday evenings. A must see in the Inner Harbor!

What a great place to visit while in the Baltimore area. We were quite impressed with the variety of sea life available to view. The dolphin show was wonderful. The staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable. Although the aquarium was under renovations while we were there, we had NO problems accessing any area, or finding our way around.

I have been to the National Aquarium multiple times and each time I just love it! Always a great new exhibit. The shark tanks are eerie! But I highly recommend it as a must stop in baltimore.

This aquarium is one of the best I have been to on the East Coast. They have their permanent exhibits and then they usually have one wing or so that rotates out and they bring in special showcases. A year ago they had a special sea horse exhibit that was fascinating. It is located right near the inner harbor, so there is a lot to do in the surrounding area. Tickets are reasonable and they let people in at particular times. This is definitely something to check out in the inner harbor area. Well maintained.

This is by far the best aquarium I've ever been to. There are so man exhibits and shows, you can spend the whole day here. There are interractive games for children. You can support them and buy an annual pass and bypass the lines!!

The aquarium is great for both kids and adults. They have such a great variety of fish that you can spend all day there and not see the same think twice. There is an open area to observe sharks and manta rays and an area that's tropical where there are birds and lizards. The admission prices are very affordable and the hours are convenient. You can take the metro, light rail or park downtown which is not cheap. There are some nice shops but they are expensive and of course the kids always want something. Their food is nothing great but then again they are not a restaurant so it's tolerable. Be sure to catch the dolphin show if you go and have a great time.

PROS: Nice time with family.
CONS: OK food, expensive parking.

The aquarium has so many different things to do and it is a place that people of all ages will enjoy. It is definitely a place to take out of town visitors or international guests. The dolphin show is outstanding and young kids will enjoy not only the acrobatics of the dolphins, but also seeing themselves on tv. The gift place is a must visit because of the variety of knick-knacks and small gifts available.

The Baltimore National Aquarium is a must see if you are in Baltimore. Plan ahead and order your tickets online (http://www.aqua.org/) because the lines are always very long and you will end up having to wait a few hours to get in because they limit the number of people who can enter the aquarium every 15 minutes. The staff is friendly but the food and drinks are over priced. This is a great place for everyone (kids, couples, tourists, etc....).

This is a must see anytime you are in the Baltimore area! We love to go there and the kids especially love it. They have a great variety of fish and acquariums to keep you entertained for hours. However, you'll want to get there early as they only have a certain number of tickets and there is often a wait to get in. No strollers either, which is hard for little ones.

This is the best, nicest, most spectacular aquarium I've ever been to and is about to get better. However, it is also really expensive and tends to be crowded.

PROS: So much to see - really awesome!
CONS: Hard to find a time when they are not very crowded.

You can't bring strollers in, which can be a pain if you have a little one, and the prices are a little high, but you will have a great time. Call and ask about discounted prices. During some seasons its only $5 after five o'clock on Fridays.

This place is awesome. Love the stingrays and the sharksand seahorses. They have a wide variety of exhibits . Of course the Flipper show is just great! The only downside is that no strollers are allowed in and with a toddler in tow who is as excited about the fishes and marine life as his mom, it can get difficult. Plan a full day at the inner harbor if you can , the lines are long and you may spend a day there as well if you want to watch all the shows .

The National Aquarium in Baltimore has a large, accessible collection of sea life and educational information. One of the best features of the aquarium is the way it flows - traffic all goes one way and moves along smoothly, despite the fact that the aquarium is often really busy. The new rain forest building is due to open in fall 2005 - I'm looking forward to seeing it.

PROS: Great exhibits, wonderful dolphin show
CONS: Can't bring strollers, often overcrowded

Located adjacent to the famous inner harbor area of Baltimore, the National Aquarium is not to be missed. Make sure you take in the dolphin show, and take your time going through. There are usually big crowds that let let in a staggered times, but it still gets pretty crowded.

Also, with young kids 2 and up make sure you visit the hands on area where they can touch crabs and starfish and things. There is also a snack area and a great gift shop.

This is the best aquarium anywhere. Don't even bother going to any other after going to this one. If you do, you'll be disappointed. The aquarium is several levels and includes the most awesome fish, sharks, exhibits I've ever seen or experienced. The rainforest on the top floor is amazing. There are different shows throughout the day also. Plan on spending at least half a day here.

After you are done at the aquarium walk around the Inner Harbor and enjoy the other sites and shops. They are great. Also, get some crabs or crabcakes. You won't be disappointed in any of it.

PROS: Absolutely the BEST there is

I love the aquarium!!! I have been going here every few years since I was little, but nowadays I think I go every few months. When you first walk in, you walk overtop of a huge pool of stingrays, which i LOVE, and you can just lean over the railing and feel like you're about to fall in with them. Then there's just a million tanks of exotic fish and sea creatures. Probably the biggest single attraction is the rainforest, where you walk through and see all kinds of great stuff.
In fall 2005, a new section, AUSTRALIA, is scheduled to open up. I can't wait for this, it looks like it will be great.

If you're visiting Baltimore, don't pass up the aquarium, it's right at the Inner Harbor, which you'd be stupid to pass up as well.

This world-reknowned aquarium is a fun treat for the family. You can pet a sting-ray and catch a dolphin show all within the local area of Inner Harbor, Maryland. An absolutely breath-taking and inspiring day awaits all at the Baltimore Aquarium. It is a little expensive and parking is difficult because you have to find a lot somewhere near the location itself - none are offered extremely close by. The location itself can't be beat though, with the aquarium being on the harbor itself amidst many tourist attractions such as stadiums, the hard rock cafe, Inner Harbor mall, etc. 2 thumbs up!

PROS: Fish/Wildlife Variety/Awe-inspiring
CONS: Expensive/Parking is Hard
