My highest recommendation
by Mike B.
Without a doubt, Hollenshade's is the finest auto service shop in Baltimore County. I've been using them for about five years and they have consistently demonstrated the finest work ethic and that rarest of traits: honesty. They DO NOT do work that isn't necessary and their pricing is ALWAYS reasonable. They are very accurate in diagnosing the problem the first time and I've never had to take any of my cars back for work they have done.
Kevin, at the desk, is a straight shooter and a model of efficiency in a no nonsense business that devoted to satisfying the customer and fixing cars on schedule. He's a great asset. His expertise has saved us thousands of dollars. When we purchased a late model used car and had problems with it, he quickly showed me that the car had in fact been in a wreck and detailed the various tell-tale signs that would be easy to miss unless you were an expert. With the information he provided I was able to return the car and get my money back. His people have also saved me from expensive repairs that were recommended by the repair shop at the dealership where I bought one of our cars. Sometimes you need to have a car serviced at the dealership for recalls etc, and during one of those visits they'll "helpfully" recommend that you need to replace your perfectly good battery (this happened) or they will try to charge you $475 for a part that was actually recalled (this also happened at a prominent Honda dealership). Hollenshade's diagnosised the problem and refered me back to the dealership so that I wouldn't be charged. They also made me aware that ideally, there shouldn't be a charge for this service. When I was charged, I knew what to do.
Hollenshade's does the right thing. They have repeatedly demonstrated integrity and fairness. Service your cars here and rest assured that the work will be done right and that only the work that is necessary will be done.

Given estimate of about $200-250; Given bill over $350
by N K.
I was not happy about that. I went there based on a few reviews on the internet -- read these with a grain of salt! And make sure to get your estimate in writing.

3 Strikes & I'm out of there for good
by Tom H.
I took my old Civic to them on several recommendations by coworkers & those I find here & similar sites.
BUT, I've asked them to fix a rear grinding/squeeking brake THREE times now.
While they found other things they said I needed to have repaired the grinding/squeeking remains!
Morning crew was warm & receptive.
The evening shift gave me a definite feeling of being condescending & insisted that the rear noise was actually caused by a problem with a front brake (that they had previously installed).

Saved me money!
by Cindy L.
The Saturn dealership was going to charge me $600 to replace rear cylinders, and Hollendhades charged me $175 for the same thing! I will definitely be going back to Hollenshades.

Top Notch
by Paul B.
I have been taking my cars to Hollenshades for over 15 years. Their work has always been sterling, and their prices fair and reasonable. Kevin has always been helpful, upfront and honest about any issues dealing with my cars. I freely and without hesitation recommend them to anyone in the area who needs to have any type of service work done to their cars. My first car I took to them was a Honda that they helped me get to 307k miles before I finally decided enough was enough. A good car repair facility is hard to find, and they will always have my business.

Reliable Honest and Efficient
by Anonymous
My wife and I have taken my many cars through the years to Hollenshades for simple and complex work. If the fix was easy and did not require parts, they let me know and on many occasions never charged a fee. It is very difficult to find a shop with competent people who provide honest service and recommendations. I am a very difficult person to please and these guys always meet or exceed my expectations. When I first started using Hollenshades I lived in Maryland. I now live in Pennsylvania and I will continue to have these guys work on my cars. If you try them you won't leave.

Quite Impressed
by Jeremy K.
I drive a 10 year old Lincoln Continental with excess of 150,000 miles on it, so I've seen my share of service shops. At other shops I tried in the area, I consistently felt out of touch with what was actually going on with my car, and the shops always acted too busy to care to explain things to me. Kevin at Hollenshades was patient in talking through things, didn't try to sell me anything more than what I needed, and gave me all the time I needed to evaluate my situation, faxed an itemized estimate for all the necessary repairs, and when I gave them the go to start repairs, they had it finished within a day. They were very efficient without rushing me. My car has been running great since they worked on it.
Above and beyond- When I gave them my keys, the battery in my remote keyless entry unit was dead. Without asking me about it, or charging me for it, they popped in a new battery. I know- probably cost negligible, but not required or even expected.
Overall, I was quite impressed.

Fantastic
by John K.
Before I started going to this place, I usually dreaded taking my car in for service, felt like I was getting hosed before I ever arrived at the shop. Not this place. They have never done any unnecessary work and have actually called me to say that work wasn't needed. In short, here's a shop you can trust, a shop that's not just out to get your $$. This place rocks.

Honest and Fair Price
by Carolyn B.
We have been servicing our vehicles at Hollenshades for about 10 years now and we have always been pleased with the service that they provide. They are honest with us and really take the time to inspect our vehicle each time it is in the shop. Our Car repairs are usually expensive but I know they would be 10 times higher if I went anywhere else. Kevin is always very nice when breaking the "bad news" to us about how much it is going to cost. We get the necessary work done and they always perform excellent service. They are quick with repairs and have a convenient drop off system.
PROS: Quick Repairs and Fair Prices

Every time I've taken my vehicle to the shop, they have always been honest with me. They never add on little repairs without warrant. In fact when I went in for brakes, they told me I did not need new brake rotors, they just needed to be turned. I've never had any shop offer to turn the rotors over replacing them!

We are do it ourselves kind of people. Every now and then we find that we can't fix our van ourselves. In that pickle this is the place to go. They are super honest. Every time we we've taken our van there it's been less than actually quoted. They are great about calling you prior to any work an dwill even tell you the problem and let you fix it yourself!
PROS: Quick service, reliable, and honest!
CONS: None
