Negative image: This corporation is the most unscrupulous organization I have ever dealt with. A non existent customer service by design is apparent. Being very active in the NOVA community, I will make sure my horrific experience is shared with every individual and organiztion I know - especially if they are - or considering becoming members. My largest client is also your client and be assured:that membership is not being renewed. Shameful that an organization like your is in our community!

They are evil company. They do whatever they can to charge fees.
They never return phone call. Often. the woman's bathroom stinks of poop. The toilets have poop marks. So gross. Machines always break down and they never fix for long time. They put signs up, "Will fix by X date" and when X date comes, they put a new sign, "Will fix by Y date." Towels are so dirty and have stains.

Once you sign up for the year membership, the management doesn't seems to care. I regret that I signed up Sport and Health. Also, they charge extra $19 every December and they never inform that before you sign the contract.

I can't wait until my contract is over. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

This is the epitome of a 'screw you' organization. I signed up for a membership for 1 year, which expired in November of '09. I was sure to cancel my membership at the front desk before moving to Texas in Dec of 09.

I recently discovered that S & H was STILL BILLING ME! When I called to explain their mistake, they actually told me I WOULD HAVE TO PROVE THAT I HAD CANCELLED BACK IN NOV!!!

For Christsakes! Look at your computer system! I havent been in the gym in 8 months, yet I'm supposed to be held responsible for some front desk attendant's mistake?

To add insult to injury, they actually had the nerve to tell me the only way they would stop charging me is if I sent in a written letter. How SHAMEFUL

Unscrupulous is the word that comes to mind. These people will stop at nothing to keep billing you, and they will give you horses#*t excuses such as 'the letter' to make your life more difficult, as they try their best to get money out of your pocket and into theirs.

Add in the fact that this gym was old, dirty, and had many amenities out of order such as the steamroom and hot tub, and you see what a pathetic piece of crap this place and organization is!

For the love of god, take your money elsewhere!

Like many other gyms out there, this place is geared towards signing up as many people by whatever means necessary, not towards giving a good value. The membership councilors are sleazy and underhanded and will say anything to sign you up. After a couple months, you will realize that you are paying more than you agreed to. The equipment is old, the locker rooms are dirty, the classes are overcrowded, the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful.

Save yourself some time and money and go to Golds or Washington Sports Club.

Profit above service. The Sauna and steam rooms are always out of service. I needed a towel for the pool and they gave me a hand towel telling me it was a new policy not to give out towels. The headphone jacks on all of the equipment no longer function properly. My wife told me that in the woman's showers many of the stalls aren't working and women are forced to stand in lines waiting for the showers. The equipment is old and out dated. When I brought these concerns up with general manager she essentially told me "get used to it!" Of course she was quick to come stomping out of her office to scold some poor guy for making too much noise while lifting weights. Hello, metal weights banging against metal bars make noise lady, you want quiet go work in a pillow store. I've been a member of this gym for years and the cutting of corners has taken on a new low in this place. No shampoo, no conditioner, only new bottles that say hair and body wash. Put that stuff in your hair and watch it fall out. Even the childcare facillities have suffered to cut costs. between 2 pm and 5 pm there are no child care facilities. The only good thing about that is that there are less people in the gym than there used to be. This discriminatory practice essentially forces mothers to ration their work out times to before two or after five. Mothers, find a gym that does not deprive you of the freedoms available to men who have wives like you to sit at home and care for the kids while they get buff and pick up younger hotter chicks who see their muscles growing while you're getting flabby and ripled by stretch marks. Unfortunately the General manager either did not learn the importance of customer servicve or she simply does not care. She does not seem to understand that by cutting costs and sacrificing customer service you may boost short term profits, but fail in the long term to maintain those profits as people cancel their memberships and go to the newer gyms that are popping up all around town.
The worst part of this whole situation is that with all of the corners, services, and other things that have been cut and deprived from the member benefits do you think that those savings would be passed on to the consumer? Hell no. New members pay $20.00 more than everyone else for diminished poor quality of service.

This gym is a catastrophe, yet another example of big bussiness stiking it to the consumer. I wonder how much of a bonus the Gen. Manager is going to get for her efforts?

We've had a family membership for several years and we actually use it quite a bit - aerobic, squash and swimming. It seems that two years ago or so management changed, and is now all about profit. There are constant membership drives. Rather than buying enough towels, they keep having various rationing schemes, the latest a totally insulting "Amnesty week", which seemed to indicate that until people return towels there will be even less availability. The last several times I've come in, there has been no shampoo anywhere in the mens locker room, and the poor staffer whom I asked just sadly noted that he had informed management, but they did not seem interested.I've pretty much had it, and would happily vote with my feet, only half a year ago I bought my wife a gift card for a personal trainer, and she has bonded with this lady in a way I'd hate to disrupt. So I'll suffer for a while longer, but anyone who has a free choice should look for alternatives. This one truly sucks.

I completely disagree with the previous posts. When I first joined there were constant membership drives offering free weekends for anyone to try out the club. This was overfilling an already oversold membership quota. Space when using the showers and locker rooms was cramped and always packed with people, not to mention the unpleasant smells. Towels are no longer offered and must now bring your own. And if you like to lap swim, forget it. The tiny pool always has some sort of aquatics program.
So, we took a chance, and trasferred our membership to the Rio location. This location offers towels and a larger pool, but at a higher cost. Classes here are also elbow to elbow and pool lanes still are taken for aquatics programs where they can make more money. Here's a kicker, if you want to ride in the studio cycling, some classes charge to reserve a bicycle.
Not happy with any of the options, but that is the problem with overselling memberships, and being $ hungry.

They have a wide array of workout equipment from machines to free weights. What tops this gym off is the addition of a swimming pool and basketball court. This truly dominates over the nearby gyms (Kentlands Bally's and Gold's Gym on the Pike). The racquet ball courts are also a great plus to this gym. The membership fees are slightly steep, but they do give you guest passes to bring in your friends (aka potential new members). The personal traininers are helpful and friendly, even when they are not being paid for their time. If you are a heavy lifter and less of a all around sport enthusiast, I would go to Bally's or Gold's where a greater variety of weights and machines are available.
